Ohh, this reminds me of our German Shepered. He lived 'till he was 16 years old; we got him as a pup. He fell down a man hold and broke both his front legs. He was doing so well on recovery, but one day when we were out walking him he just collapsed; dead. ;_; We never knew why, we assumed it was the stress; he was an old boy. But we loved him very much. German Shepereds are the true definition of mans best friend :(

Sorry there is so much sadness around this for you. I am up watching videos trying to get my mind off the fact that I am about to do the very thing you felt terrible having to do, which is put my pet to sleep-in this case a cat I've had for 14+ years and Its the worst feeling EVER. I know its time but having just lost his brother in August, this has really just wiped me out emotionally. The intensity of love we share with our pets is the same reason it is such an awful ache when its gone. hugs.

exactly 5 monts ago i've lost my dog...and even if a i knew she was old it was very difficult for me to move on...even now when i remember her i always cry...everyday...she was so special to me...i had her since i was almost 10 (so for 11 years) and she was my best friend ever...i miss her so much:((...she had a tumor and that's why she died...and for a week before dying she didn't eat anything and she suffered a lot...i stayed all the time with her,inclusive the moment she died.i want her back!

@Lilit400 If you are talking about a bird, you can train your dog to love the bird(s) and protect it from others that would harm it. My Shepherd loved my rabbits & never bothered wild ones. She played with our rabbits. She was gentle and protective, even when we were not home. You have to be dominate but never hit or be mean, just stern and very consistent. Have one caged when you start. My Shepherd wanted to eat them all at first.

My dog can't get along not only with my cocktail but also with outside birds. I think what I do He will not change. But He is very pretty and kind to others

Both of your pets died? Im sorry for your loss. I felt terrible when my 5 month old puppy Juwie died in 1999. I still think of her. Now we have her sister, Tiffany who is 12 years and fit as a horse. I suppose losing Juwie made us really look after her sister Tiffany. =( I know how it feels.

I just want to say I am so sorry that your dog got sick. I know when my oldest dog passes on, I will be devastated, whether or not there is anything but old age that causes it. I have many cats as well, and the dogs are such characters with them. It's so cute. Each of my two dogs has their own "kitty", which is so adorable.

@cancankant, I think after living together for a while, Budday (the cat 7) and Shelby (the dog 4) just fell in love. To watch them together, really took over my heart. When I fist brought Shelby home, she was four months old.. she terrorized my three cats, two female tiger cats, and 1 male Siamese, my three cats quickly put Shelby in her place. After about three years together, they got really close toward the end of Shelbys life, Budday had to be put down due to sickness shortly after.
