  • Nice rifle, I am enchanted with the idea of owning the Pedersoli Kodiak in 72

  • IF YOU ARE GOING TO AFRICA BETER GET IN SHAPE..

  • The recoil on mine is not too bad, using the traditional four dram (110 grain) load of Swiss FFg. The steel buttplate exacerbates things, but with a bit of padding (I use a PAST pad) it's acceptable, even for an 8.5 pound gun.

It's worth noting that even four drams exceeds Pedersoli's (admittedly low) recommendations. I would go up to five drams (135 grains) without much concern, but 200 grains would be excessive IMO. Neat video, at any rate!

  • Lovely rifle,I seem to remember reading in one of the old books about hardening lead bullets and balls with antimony.Either Selous or Cornwallis Harris mention the amount of lead and antimony they are carrying in their wagons to cast with.

  • @stricklandsahib Yes, for dangerous game the Brits used hardened bullets. A fellow named Sir Samuel White Baker wrote a book called "Wild Beasts & Their Ways" in 1890, that is the best hunting book ever. He gives lots of info on guns and loads across his career starting in the 1850s.

  • The recoil isn't bad...about like a 12 ga shotgun...maybe a bit harder than that, but not much

  • Nice gun and hat.

  • what a beautiful rifle you have there! that is like a cannon almost! how is the recoil?

  • Beautiful.
