We have to stand against humanism, whether it calls itself egalitarianism, atheism, secularism, Marxism, environmentalism, or feminism. By any moniker, its mission is to centralize and consolidate the governments of the world.
This kind of thinking is what got me interested in libertarian socialism (anarchism). In particular, the idea that people should make decisions to the degree they are affected by those decisions using decentralized and democratic methods. The point is to have the highest amount of liberty and equality possible without control from above or from individuals. This is the best idea I've found for reconciling individual and group interests.
Evolution my friend. Soon the rest of the damn village is gonna start helping out with that damn kid.
Survival of the fittest will favor those of us that have the capacity to see all human beings through the same protective and sympathetic eyes with which we behold our own kin.
Interesting stuff but heres my thought: re-watch the video while keeping in mind the concept of feral children. Suddenly we all become a little less special.
I like to consider the concept of interdependency in these matters. We're all in the same 'soup' of causal relationships and when we seek to do harm or dehumanize, we create more problems for ourselves, as with struggling in quicksand - working against ourselves.
Totally agree mrmorton! From a fellow INTP I also have the peculiar (for INTP) reasoning that there is a *reason* for everything. Things just aren't or are, they have been created as a function of reason and as a function of their environment. Wow, I could go on about this for awhile. Come to INTP Central, I would like to talk to you about this.
why do we value security and comfort so much? it seems like a function of the self. the problem is, the 'us' is so big and intense to really engage and live with all the time. i dont think its poosible to truely have both 'us' and 'me'. one has to be set down.
Watching your videos, how openmindedly you approach these issues and the insight you bring to them... makes me feel really small, stupid and closeminded. I think it's good for you once in a while, and it always passes, engulfed by a deluge of rational thinking. I just thought I'd throw that out there.
I think the words "humane" and "humanitarian" are more words that developed over time, more describing how you treat humans than being human. Someone can have "inhuman" strength, or an "inhuman" form. I mean, am I wrong?
puddysma i have your same problem i so need a webcam, i want to say much more on these topics to these guys but the limiting factor of these comments or them not working at all is annoying.
i watched your vid twice in order to try to wrap my head around point you tried to make. i come away thinking conciousness/human evolution... string theory? i think you'd love michio kaku... i've been to his lectures, read his books and listen to his weekly radio program... i encourage you to google him... thanks for the vid
OK, You gave us the heavey stuff to think about and I will after I listen to your Vid. a couple more times, but on a lighter note let us know how your day went with your son Thanks Jim
You kept talking about the i/me and us as if it is different than the them...when the us IS them. Every single one of us share some things but not other things...and while individual experiences might be shared, no two individuals share every experience...we are all "them". Grim Jim got it right*S*
Damn! i wish i had the equipment to make a video...there's room to say something that way...I HATE LIMITS!!!! i am limitless...i am infinite...so are "they"
i made a ton of notes and 500 characters is not enough! But there is already a unified theory that connects us on all levels but i think you almost have to recognize that we are more than physical beings in order to realize it..but not sure of that.
hehe, nice to see this :) we are all branches of the same tree, but each indiviual branch makes up the tree therefore we have to be individuals to make up "us"

I'd love to do a Mr. Morton Mailbag, where you can just email with your thoughts and I'll read/comment on them in a viddie.

"The opposite of a Great Truth... is another Great Truth."
I've found most of my epiphanies at those points where two absolute "truths" conflict.
Question: Is is a wave or a particle?
Answer: yes.
It takes time, but you can learn to live in that uncomfortable place that has no "them".
