norway is an ancient and mysterious country indeed. i even have a nisse here at my farm helping me. also, they are most likely invisible to people that dont believe in them. my father saw a troll footprint once, he said it was like 2 times bigger then him. one of those mountain trolls i guess. occasionally i take a trip to the forests or caves/mountains to look for these creatures.
Nice video. Norwegian folklore is a very interesting subject. I believe that most of these creatures, but only because it is tradition. My family have believed in these creatures for many, many generations, and I don`t want to be the one who stopped believing in them. I still write stories about the nøkk and the kvernknurr, which I do believe was not mentioned here. But, I have heard that a male Hulder is called a hulderkall. Huldermann might be correct as well, just pointing it out.
The nisse of our house is epic. Last winter I gave him a little cup of beer (placed it on one of his favourite spots). And the very next day I found an item that i had lost and thought long gone =)
I belive in nisser a bit :) but im not sure about the others. They never had a large presence here in my area, so i will decide when i move to the mountain villages, thats where the folklore creatures presence has always been strongest.
hey if anybody knows of some good websites about folklore from any country please send me a link. i really love this kind of stuff. things like the baba yaga and koschei the deathless.......
hey i'm looking for a myth or legend that was told to me,about a dream warrior or something, used astral projection to posses his grandsons body?curious if it was real saw it in a book about a norwegian family
I bet the Nisse is why my great great great grandfather moved from Norway to America. :P

Lumsk - Trolling Tekst:
OrthrusTails 11 months ago
Dei tura i lag
og natt blei til dag
men med dagslyset kom også sola
det øyeblikk strålane følgjet traff
var dei ikkje blant oss her på jorda
Ikkje ein jotne held seg på beina
følgjet blei som forsteina
det hjelpte ikkje å verte gal
dei står der den dag i dag

Nøkken also do play the violin, with a magical tune he make their victims turn into some sort of trance, and make them follow him back to the lake...

"Huldra" form Norwegian folklore remind me of "Iele" from Daco-Romanian folklore... are they related to summer or to any summer festival?

Actually, Storåsfestivalen is an annual festival here in Norway, during summer, that got two of them in their logo. :]
