  • Excellent!!!!!!!!!

  • Jordison can do this 10 times better...get this and other jokes by sending the word AWESOME to the 560 984 666, Vinnie Colaiuta its my freakin dad

  • Colaiuta is actually classed 1st drum player in the world.

  • Or at least it's completely unimpressive without some sort of dynamics or genuine complexity involved.

  • I don't even think I need to defend any comparison to Joey because everyone who he's being compared to in this conversation (outside Sandoval, that was a bad example, I'll CONCEDE that) is capable of much more COMPLEX than Joey and that matters a lot more than than Joey's one incredibly simple and underdeveloped style. If you're going to hang on power, then Dave Lombardo still kills Joey... but power isn't even a real criteria when it comes to drums anyway.

  • vinnie can do anything doublebass related that joey does, and joey is only good (and by good, i mean far far inferior to Derek Roddy and the likes) at blasting and simple doublebass grooves.

Vinnie's doublestrokes with the feet really do allow him to do quads as fast as joey does them with two pedals by the way... sorry you made the mistake of mentioning that.

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore But Roddy doesn't have the power that Jordison has. The beats are simple rythmically but they are incredibly hard to play. Virgil plays really complex stuff but he doesn't have the sheer speed of Jordison. These guys all focus on the wrong things. Things that don't matter for top gigs. I just watched Aquiles Priester and he's amazing - better than Jordison and in some ways better than Donati. Better in ways that matter anyway.

  • Ya know I don't wanna come off like a douche; but I prefer to hear Vinnie play within the music rather than listen to his solos. Don't get me wrong, Vin rocks his solos, but, in my opinion, where he really Kills is within a band. You can tell that's what he goes for: being a musician as opposed to a boring 30-minute solo monster like Donati.

What I really dig is Vinnie's ability to over play yet remain tasteful and not over power a song.

  • it was okay

  • chuck norris of drumming

  • Terry Bozzio & Chad Wackerman are pretty good too

  • Chad Wackerman Terry Bozzio

  • Charlie Adams, Alex Van Halen, Dave Lombardo, Johm Bohnam, Vinne Colaiuta, Steve Copeland, and Dennis Chambers. Favorite drummers and my influences

  • thats from the buddy rich memorial 1989 isnt it?

  • Which group is he performing with?

  • I love vinnie, bonham, eddie van halen, gadd, Even barker, and dominic howard. My favorite drummers.

  • @dancefool68 Wow, I can't believe I just put eddie instead of Alex, I also forgot Wekl, and Keith moon. FAIL

  • @dancefool68 colaiuta, weckl, thomas lang, deen castronovo.

    my favourites.

  • If he put a mask on like Joey Jordison, then he would be almost as good as Neil Peart. Hahahaha.

  • @tthueson i love neil peart as much as the next guy, but vinnie is the best drummer alive right now.

  • @phizzo11 why is vinnie the best?

  • Argh why fade out???!! Where can I see the whole no please??

  • dave weckl?

  • This dude is a BEAST!!!!!!!

  • Please Lady gaga Joey Jordinson, MTV, Blink 182 or Miley Cyrus fans ... in the name of the good Lord .... don´t post here !!!!!...

  • @godzuki444 funny thing is Vinnie plays on all sorts of albums by these pop stars..most demand studio drummer in the world : Billy Ray Cyrus, Pussycat Dolls, Faith Hill , destiny's Child, Backstreet Boys, Boys to men...no matter how lame your taste check your liner notes

  • Travis Barker cuts this guys lawn

  • Modern day Buddy Rich!!!

Colaiuta has always been a fave of mine since Joe's Garage. The beats he lays down on that album are just beyond belief!

  • Mentioning Travis Barker or Joey Jordison on a Vinnie Colaiuta video should be punishable by death. Oh shit, I just did it too.....

  • DRUMMER with balls,not a balls drummer!!

  • without the glasses looks just like robert downey jr lol

  • I was so amazed his letter-perfect double stroke.

  • if you as a teenager fool "who's the best drummer?" he'll answer travis or joey

if you travis or joey "who's the best drummer?" they'll answer vinnie and weckl

  • why does the clip end when the rest of the band come in???!!!! Vinnie's playing is pure Tony..... The Spirit..... The Young Lion......

  • @punkofdeath yeah man, you're pretty much an idiot. Travis blows compared to 'real' professional drummers. but then again judging by your username your'e not a very diverse musician and don't listen to music that requires any actual talent.

  • why are these fucking retards comparing travis barker and that slipknot jackoff to someone as great as vinnie

  • That's cool. I'm touring myself and I been playin all my life. (drums)I wasn't tryin to insult you so you can stop bein touchy.

  • Vinnie,... style x 1000

  • Vinny... Pure style,.. from how he drums,.. to how he presents himself.

  • Do 62 people really not know how good Travis Barker is? I don't know about better but he can rip that shit the fuck up. so if you call him a shitty drummer you have no idea what your talking about. hes a top 10 drummer. Hate on blink not travis barker.

  • @punkofdeath Lol

  • @blacktalent20 whats funny? saying fuck blink?? I dont get it??? if its my credibility I'm a musician of 12 years played in 3 bands and two "school" orchestras not drums myself but guitar and violin and do some producing on the side for local bands.

  • @punkofdeath top ten drummer my ass. If you can't name ten drummers more capable than Travis Barker then you don't know any drummers.

  • not Vinnie's best solo here by any means...

  • I find it hard to believe how good a musician Colaiuta is. So musical. Colaiuta, Jack DeJonette and Dennis Chambers are my big three - and I'm not a drummer. Great chops, yes, but so musical. Between they they have appeared on so many great records.

  • WHY is it that every time i see a video of a GREAT drummer, theres always some 13 year old arguing that Travis Barker of Joey Jordison could do it better??

    1. THEY CANT, get over it.. They arent that good

    2. THEY WOULD ADMIT THAT THEY CANT!!! They KNOW that they will NEVER be as good as this man here, so stop trying to win battles for somebody that agrees that there is no battle to fight.

    3. Grow up, listen to real music, so you can understand the caliber of your n00bness

  • @elrojomuerto6x Well, Im only 14 and I completely agree with you, until my drum teacher started introducing me to drummers like Vinnie and Dave Weckl I thought Joey Jordison was 'top dog'- but now, I think completely different about it. I still love listening to grindcore and metal because thats the type of music i enjoy, but at least now I have a wider view of drummers through the geanres.

  • holy fucking shit at the lulz...Joey Jordison can play over Vinnie? hahahaha yeah, I love all the groove, really weird meters/ beat displacements on those super technical Shitnot discs...I lulz.

You little douche bag kids wearing your Hot Topic elephant leg pants and hoodies kill me.

oh yeah, you do know Vinnie ghosts on metal records, right?

  • holy fucking shit at the lulz...Joey Jordison can play over Vinnie? hahahaha yeah, I love all the groove, really weird meters/ beat displacements on those super technical Shitnot discs...I lulz.

You little douche bag kids wearing your Hot Topic elephant leg pants and hoodies kill me.

  • what ride is that

    its awesome

  • AND HE'S WEARING A SUITE!

  • Vinnie for president

  • I'm really quite surprised that people mention the names Travis Barker or Joey Jordison at all on these kinds of videos...

  • @MrOmniFreak they're asking to be embarrassed

  • @MrOmniFreak Agreed. the only people that come close are Gadd and Weckl.

  • @MrOmniFreak Amen!

  • @MrOmniFreak what's wrong with that? it's all the same type of drumming - for show and not particularly musical

  • @MrOmniFreak They don't have class. XD

  • @MrOmniFreak Joey Jordinson can do things Vinnie can't do. Don't even bother wasting my time with some nonsense about how Vinnie can do it all with one foot because he can't. Even Vinnie here is using a double pedal but he clearly can't play the ubber fast and loud double bass patterns that Jordison can.

  • wtf were dat!? this guy for real? scary good.

  • Who are "Jordison" and "Barker"??

    Two pieces of shit??? OMFG

  • @ TreacherousCretin above me: comparing Travis to Vinnie is more like comparing poo to a four course meal prepared by Gordon Ramsay.

  • Vinnie is pretty much a drummer for all occasions. I'm still floored listening to him with Zappa and thinking about how young he was then. The most important drummer of our times.

  • There is no other drummer alive (or dead) that is or will ever be as good as VINNIE COLAIUTA!!!!!!! He is the BEST drummer of all time.

  • why is everybody talkin about joey jordison? he stinks!!

  • secrets - allan holdsworth (the whole cd), against the clock - allan holdsworth (song)..

the best vinnie colaiuta i ever heard

  • YouTube's frame rate can't even keep up.

  • Joey Jordison, who?

  • Even when i'm a world famous drummer, i don't ever want to wear a suit when i'm playing...

  • mr. swing

  • Wish I could do that in a suit! Christ! The man is just frickin amaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiizzzzzing.

  • vinnie is just one of those people who was born to do this. its like a doctor who wont sleep untill he's found out whats wrong with his patient. il bet that when vinnie isnt playing he's thinking about playing.

  • well Thomas Lang needs a 436536 dollar drumkit just to make a nice solo

and this guy just blown out my brains with a 1500 dollar kit

  • this is really nothing....he's good, but I could do a little better....I'd challenge Vinnie to a drum off anytime....i'm joking....he's fucking phenomenal !!

  • ha, thomas lang is in it for looking good with his big muscles and stick tricks...he does have good double bass technique ill give him that, but that is all.

  • @jordangrant1989 WTF?!? Thomas Lang is a great drummer. the tricks is only for the show (sorry for my english, but i'm italian xD)

  • Are you on crack, doesn't compare to Lang? I guess you're right, he doesn't compare, just blows Lang out of the water.

  • @FoxItaly

Oh really. Why don't you post him playing, then.

  • Meu baterista favorito. Esse é mestre!

  • qué gusto tiene y tendrá el Sr Vinnie a la batería.

  • kicks the shit out of joey jordison

  • even virjil d0nati accept t0 him self that he never see a drummer like vinnie in his entire life...!!!!

  • That goes without saying man haha

  • LOL Joey Jordision, that looney toon drummer cant come near the complexity a drummer like colaiuta exhibits in much of his playing!

  • @ferginator69 in what way? joey can do anything here, im not one of those slipknot heads that are ramping about but joey could fuck the shit outa that solo, there really isnt anythin genius, narrative or interesting going on here other than triplets, dynamics and the usual duga duga. joey is a good mix of rock and metal and he does it very well, yes he wears a mask with a band who are often dismissed but keep it to this solo and yeah, Vinnie would look pale.

  • Comment removed

  • @stellarshore joey would make vinnie look pale in a drum solo? How old are you six ? you better do your homework on colaiuta , the most gifted person to ever pick up a pair of sticks

  • @lolosixfoe i dont think so, iv heard vinnie, i dont think hes amazing, joey can do anything here on this solo, they are different drummers that capture a different feel, vinnie is more versed in different styles yes, but this solo, joey would dominate. if you really think vinnie is that good then post a link or something, state why you think he is gifted, this solo does not exhibit giftedness to me.

  • @stellarshore I think Joey would laugh at you for comparing him to Vinnie Colaiuta.

  • @stellarshore Could any of the other drummers mentioned play with Sting, Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, Frank Zappa, (and read "The Black Page"?), Megadeth, Chick Corea, Jeff Beck, and basically everybody else in the whole f*#king world?? Check out his Wiki page.

It's not about the solo. It's about playing with such musicality, creativity, empathy, and feel that everyone in the whole musical universe wants you behind them on the drums. Nobody gets hired to play drum solos.

  • @stellarshore All joey can do is quads. Get over it. Vinnie is among the 10 best drummers in the world, and there are 1000 metal drummers better than joey.

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore

so true. not to mention that vinnie can hold his own playing heavy stuff too. have you heard his playing on megadeth's system has failed? it's quality stuff

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore vinnie isnt among the 10 best, vinnie is THE best

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore You are seriously fucking retarded man. Joey can play double bass patterns like mad. He's an incredible drummer not better or worse than Vinnie. But conceded Jazz fucktards who are actually stupid enough to believe that their boring elevator music is superior like to talk about how much better Vinnie and Buddy are than Joey. The reality is, if these don't play drums, I can forgive them. But any player with an IQ above 65 should know better.

  • @metalmike83 That doesn't even begin to make sense, "man."

Conceding is something you should do with this entire argument, because you're fucking wrong. "Conceited" is what I assume you meant to say so obviously you aren't qualified to call people retarded.

What's the most difficult time sig Joey plays in then? When has he demonstrated he can do ANYTHING your average run of the mill metal drummer (Say Sandoval) can't do? Where is his display of advanced polies?

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore Correcting someone's spelling is the last resort of someone who has absolutely no argument and clearly doesn't have a clue at all. You want to compare apples to oranges and say that Vinnie's double strokes are better than quads. Bullshit - it's not even possible to reach insane speeds with one foot. He can play it slowly sure but I've seen him use a double pedal to do quads. He's okay at it I guess. He still can't play machine gun like sixteenth note patterns like Joey.

  • Comment removed

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore Sandoval is ALL blasts and triggers. He doesn't have the power that Jordison can get on an untriggered kit. Plus, he's not nearly as creative with his beats. He's just static and sounds the same every single time. Jordison at least has SOME flash when he plays. And still, Sandoval is FAR from your average run-of-the-mill drummer. He's one of the best of all time for that genre - as much as I don't care for him. In some ways, he's far better than Weckl, Vinnie, etc.

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore I find it surprising that I need to explain this to you. You come off as if you actually play drums. Clearly you don't, or are not very advanced. Any advanced drummer knows you can't just go comparing genres like that. Roddy, Kollias, Jordison, Sandoval, etc - they can all do things that Vinnie can't. And he of course can do things they can't. To say that one is better than the other is assinine and shows a lack of musical education.

  • So, according to your logic, Vinnie's better because he can slowly play quads with one foot, and because he plays jazz. Something like that right? Because "polies" as you call them are everything and double bass just sucks. Polyrythms aren't even used in metal drumming so why would Joey use them? I just don't understand how someone can compare genres like this and think they are making sense. It's like saying that football players are better athletes than hockey players. Just different, man.

  • @metalmike83 ...The reason I chose to use Derek as an example was to contrast Joey to someone who isn't incredibly fucking slow and inept by heavy metal standards. It's not right to compare genres like Jazz and Metal I agree, but you're acting as if Vinnie's doublebass work isn't clearly superior to Joey's when it is. "That 16th Note" machinegunning is just that, incredibly simple licks at a high tempo. If you watched all of Vinnie's work you'd know he does more complex things than that.

  • @ScreamxBloodyxGore Meh, Derek can't be heard without triggers. Which is where power comes into play. Jordison also has some cool unique beats and he is technically slower than Roddy but not by much. Roddy relies on triggers remember. Show me the video where Vinnie clearly displays superior double bass work. All I've ever seen Vinnie do is quads - which is exactly the lameness you accused Jordison of.

  • @metalmike83 The difference between when Vinnie does them and when joey does them is that Vinnie doesn't completely lean on them like Joey does (because his hands aren't pathetic like Joeys). Also if you consider the context in which they are played, even this video is sufficient... Joey would be so fucking lost in this solo, and that's because it isn't straightforward garbage... the only thing Joey has ever played to. And there are plenty metal drummers who use polies, joey just cant.

  • @metalmike83 see jeff beck stratus at fuji speedway for some vinnie bass drum magic

  • @ferginator69 I couldn't agree any more! But every one besides metal fans hate him, but he's very modest. He even says hes not a good drummer, but he records what he thinks the songs needs. And i respected that alot.

  • @ferginator69 dude you canty ever compare vinni with joey because they play diferent genres so they cant compete

  • @ferginator69 Who the fuck is Joey Jordison?????OMG!!!!

  • @ferginator69 comparing joey to vinnie is like comparing poo to good food

  • @ferginator69 :)))) WHO THE FUCK IS JOEY JORDISON?

  • @ferginator69: How do you even compare joey with this?

  • If John Coltrane were still alive, he'd want Vinny as his drummer.

  • Me too...if I were still alive, but he just killed me.

  • VINNIE=BAD-ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • vinnie is the best

  • Hi great part but also check out te other piece with weckl an gad!!

BTW i think the snare has two strainers het puts on the second one (1.57). Ik makes the gohst note sound better.

  • this guy is so amazingly awesome but in 1:57 that's too much!!! tuning a lil bit and with his fingers, not using the key, that makes me sound such a drumming noob, but honestly that blows me fucking mind!!

  • hi! ..aaah.. he's tighting the snare wires ;) maybe the snare was sounding a little bit like "too wet" so he needed a drier sound :) you can actually hear the not-defined dry sound when he performs that crescendo right before tighting ;D I wish I could tight up the lugs without a key hahaha

  • bro i believe he was just turning up the snares....

  • He is amazingly awesome indeed! but at 1:57 i don't belive its the actual drum. I think its the snares ;)

  • He's just tightening the snare.

  • you dont need a key to adjust the snares

  • key? but no-1 uses a key for that?

  • some solo, this guys power is hard to match,he burns it.

  • I can't believe he's doing this in a suit.

  • Tbh, can we stop talking about Travis Barker and talk about Vinnie Colaiuta please. This guy is insane!

  • Travis Barker doesn't deserve the title of "drummer".

  • if all the youg drummers look up to travis barker theres not going to be no buddy's or enyone like that a not cool a travis barker is a average drummer

  • i am a young drummer and i don't look up to him :)

  • You'll get places with that attitude.

  • @borishog I'm 16. I first got into drums when i was 10 when i saw Neil Peart do his massive drum solo live. Then i got into Joey jordison bad idea. Then my drum teacher (he was one of John Bonham's teachers) said joey sucks and showed me a vinnie solo and a gadd solo and i was like. Joey sucks this is the shit right here. :)

  • @zackspoz

Odd; my drum instructor rates/recomends Joey Jordison. His first training was apparently in jazz and (so I'm told) that's a breeding ground for good technique.

  • @MatlockJack Well i guess everybody has different tastes. Don't get me wrong, Joey is a great drummer, i've just never seen him play anything apart from big fills and fast bass drum grooves. I suppose i was being a little naive.

  • travis barker a show but not a drummer, nah! ...vinnie an artist yeah intersting that is the same name of vinnie paul from pantera! yeah the best.

  • Travis Barker got lucky and that's all there is to it because with all due respect, he's not that impressive at all.

  • why is travis barker always a comparison with people?

  • cause he's the most known drummer out there pretty much and one of the most weak drummers technically at the same time.

  • ..because a good majority of drummers think speed and sound is all that matters. They don't look into the Colaiuta's, the Rich's, or the Gadd's - who are in innovators and the true musicians.

  • I think people just go to these drumming videos and say something about Travis Barker knowing full well it pisses everyone off. It's actually kind of funny.

  • It NEVER FAILS! No matter what drum video I go to, these idiotic Travis Barker fans just show up and start talking trash. They have NO IDEA how stupid they look when they do that.

  • comparing travis to vinnie is like comparing poo to good food.

  • @TreacherousCretin HAHAHAHAHH everyone needs to know that travis barker REALLY REALLY REALLY isn't good.

  • @lydianflatseven Travis Barker is REALLY good. But Vinnie Colaiuta is REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY good. :)

  • @lydianflatseven Travis Barker is REALLY good. But Vinnie Colaiuta is REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY good. :)

  • @TreacherousCretin hahahahahahah XD

  • @TreacherousCretin LOL!!!!! no doubt is good in his league of pop punk ... one of the best ... but yeah .. what u said ahaha so true ... and made me laugh so hard

  • @TreacherousCretin i agree. poo isn't very good food.

  • Travis is cool and all but if you went to a clinic where these guys were playing side by side, you would notice a huge gaping difference in the depth of talent. Kind of like when I went a clinic with Kenny Arronoff and Mike Derosier played together. Kenny did circles around Derosier, who is a good drummer, but Arronoff is great .... Vinnie is better than Arronoff too.

  • i enjoy both Travis' and Vinnies drumming, but holy fuck they are worlds apart from each other, Travis is a punk/rock drumming Vinnies is a extremely talented Technical drummer. Your an idiot if you try to compare them or say one is better than the other. Each drumming has his own style and that makes him unique.

  • Is that a... Grestch ?

  • yamaha 9000 recording custom

  • Barker i a complete joke compared to vinnie

  • To make you understand the difference:

    Travis Barker = A dummer

    Vinnie Colaiuta = An Artist

  • travis barker is gay...

  • The real question, can Travis Barker play this good while wearing a suit jacket?

  • please stop all this "who's better" stuff, they are all great but for different reasons, it's not a question of who's best, one may be a good time keeper, another a good pocket player, but they are all individual players, who cares about names, as long as you like them !

  • this is just amazing! I'm gettin pissed off with people on youtube always sayin that travis barker, or neil peart, or joey jordison or whoever is the greatest drummer ever.....what about if you love all of them for different reasons. Every drummer is different so stop having your stupid little fan-boy arguements and appreciate what these immensly talented people can do. Ps. I'd love to play in a suit!! :P

  • its funny how people such as uranus2208 can say travis barker and all these modern drummers are better than the old greats but i bet travis barker would disagree and its hard to be an innovator do something new what has any new drummer done that the greats didnt pretty much create theyre following the path that the greats paved so that makes uranus ignorant as fuck if he think travs got ne thing on vinnie

  • That's a good joke. I laughed. Hard. That's like comparing a Ferrari to a Civic and a Corrola

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!Everyone who agrees with this guy, reply this post :) it will be a looong list.....

  • ummm, are u stupid or something? i love travis, but he aint got shit on this guy

  • Wow dude you need to get out more. Barker has no chops for anything but punk, and little punk chops at that. I almost pissed myself i laughed so hard when i saw your comment. Travis has nothing on Colaiuta. End of discussion. Now go cry yourself to sleep.

  • all the comments against your comment make justice. you are comparing one of the greatest drummers to some people that just know how to play drums. let me ask you something: what's their legacy? you are either an idiot, or just don't have a clue. what's your answer?

  • ...

Blink182 and Fall Out Boy are posers bands.

And her drummers are a shit comparing with other big drummers likeVinnie Colaiuta, Mike Portnoy, Mike Mangini...

    Don't be ignorant.

  • lol travis barkers a joke compared to this guy

  • @UrAnus2208 you should really do research man... and dont shoot yourself on the head after you find out vinnie is the best drummer out there

  • Dear God... He's better than Neil Peart. Impossible...

  • Beautiful playing...........
