  • I am not fully raw, but I do want to start my baby on a raw diet. Everywhere I look they say to steam the food. What is the purpose of steaming? And if you not steaming, what do you do to get the food soft?

  • avocado and spinach puree

  • Hey, mashing raw stuff is great, but if you wait till your baby is trully ready (sits up unassisted, lost tongue thrust reflex, developed pincer grasp), you don't even have to do that - just give them pieces of food that you normally eat they way they it is. If you wait till they are ready they are totally cool with just munching on it :) Makes busy mama's job a lot easier :)

  • I wouldn't give my kids spices, it's not natural and not food in the wild It is hard for me to get off them but I wouldn't give my future kids any, they wouldn't need it for anything, I hear Raw kids prefer the fully whole raw food (a whole apple) instead of a dish prepared, like Raw apple pie :)

  • Both of my kids first baby food was mashed banana at about 6 months old. B/c it is so easy to do and I always have bananas in my house. I Breastfeed both of my kids too.

You guys should do a video about breastfeeding. Look at the 'The Ecologist Magazine - breastmilk vs formula - April 2006' for more info on how good it is for babies and how 'green' it is.

  • this baby food is great.

if the baby doesnt eat it, it doesnt go to waste. you can eat it.

my morning smoothie is baby food anyway.

  • Hmmm..

    Future baby meals?

     Mashed mango with strawberries.

  • Does Lisa have a book with maybe all this in there? If not please suggest it to her! It would be something I would love.

PS I vote for you guys in the best of raw 09, wish you luck!

  • Be careful with the avocado. Avocado makes my husbands and sons throat irritated andthey say it feel like is is closing a little.

  • Thank you :-)

  • Awesome!

  • what about berries that turn out very liquidy when mashed?

  • Probably just mash them with banana or avocado, pear, or apple or a thicker fruit but I think some berries might have to wait for the baby to mature but I'm not an expert!! :) just be careful and start with small amounts of a new foods and check for possible reactions!

  • So many of the youtube mommies are making baby food for their children now. I think it's awesome because it saves SO much money.

  • if i ever have babies i know I'll probably start off with mashed berries because i don't want them to start off with the sugar addiction my mom did to me. o_o

  • banana+mango sauce with a dash of cinnamon.

Oh wait, I think that's for me haahha.
