@Tamisings Thank you for supplying her name. I have been looking all over for her name. She sings this song so beautiful...it really does give you chills. So much better than Jevetta, Barbra, or Celine. Just wonderful. Again, thanks for the name. Have a wonderful day.
Words are just not enough to describe just how good this song is, George sings it by far the best. I was lucky to be at this concert many years ago, I tell you, there were grown people around me with tears in their eyes. LOVE IT LOVE IT.
Damn I have had this song on C.D. for years and someone posted this song with Celine Dionne singing it, and it here is with George singing it live! Love it! Thanks for posting!
Amazing song.. Parallels today with the exodus from Egypt. Weather a bagabon walking down some unknown road to who knows where, A prostitute that just cant do another john. An Egyption parent crying out to God from the death of a frist born son. All have walked this road and can relate to this cry. When our dreams no longer glitter, and become more like hell. We all walk down this lonely road crying out to God. God is also crying out to us. Beautiful, beautiful, soulful song. All can relate to
no one is bigger then GM... the way he sings a song like this.. with so much feeling.. he touches me everytime.. cant wait and hope that he´ll return to denmark and play for us again
one of the best performances of a song ever. who is the woman? she is phantastic too! Thank you so much for posting. It is one of my most beloved songs.
This (promo)recording is from one of the Wembley concerts in March 1991 (not New York 25/26. August 1991). It was filmed with others Unfortunaly he never released this material offically on video. Just "Don't let the sun..." was released and recorded in USA (not Wembley). Tonight is also recorded but very very hard to find.
I love love love this song it's officially my favourite song. I love you but I wish you sang Desert road from vegas to nowhere Dear friends So dear friends your love has gone Only tears to dwell upon I dare not say as the wind must blow So a love is lost, a love is won Go to sleep and dream again Soon your hopes will rise and then From all this gloom life can start anew And there'll be no crying soon I love that part ..... I wish you (GM) could sing that for Micheal Jacksons tribute.
you wouldn't possibly believe that he is afraid of such a thing would you? i rather think he wanted to make the song into a dialogue-like song. guy sings, girl replies. i'm pretty sure there is more concept in that than george being afraid to hold a tune.
Hey that's amazing. Please tell me did he sing this part ? Desert road from vegas to nowhere Dear friends So dear friends your love has gone Only tears to dwell upon I dare not say as the wind must blow So a love is lost, a love is won Go to sleep and dream again Soon your hopes will rise and then From all this gloom life can start anew And there'll be no crying soon if yes how did he sound? I can just Imagine YOU ARE SO LUCKY Almost as lucky as someone that saw MJ live.
Looks like the cover to cover tour which I was at at the Garden 17 years ago....... saw him again at the Garden last monday for 25live....... the man is magic, pure magic. As awesome as ever!!!!!!
Most certainly did - unfortunately if I heard corrrectly 25Live is his last tour ..... hoping it's not. Would love to be in Coppenhagen on 8/30 for the last show of this tour - supposed to be huge and longer, special thank you to fans over there ..... Damn
The only person better than George Michael is Freddie Mercury. George couldn't touch him. However, nobody could, so there's nom shame in that! George is unbelievably good in his own right! Superb!
Everytime I see him or just hear his voice I assure that his is absolutely inimitable. I've never heard anyone better than him. He is unique. My love forever.
Ms. Steele is perfection on this song! She released the original from movie Bagdad Cafe. Great flick! I saw it back in the early 80's and still love it. Very haunting yet hopeful song.
sharob1958- this song and 4 other songs appeared on a EP in the mid 90's - "Five Live". Along with "Somebody to Love" with Queen and "These are The Days of Our Lives" with Lisa Stansfield and Queen. The duet with Lisa sounds great. More than likely it's out of print. Good luck.
Ha, I had that EP! I've probably still got it somewhere. I remember this song from it. These are the days.. was pretty good as well. Ahh, I had it on cassette, those were the days.
Amazing man, amazing voice, could never state that enough. Love Lynn Maybree too. Powerful lyric, people need to just be real like that. Friendship and communication can be so powerful when all parties involved put forth the effort. Great song.
One of my faves too. It's from the film "Bagdad Cafe" filmed in 1987 and released in 1988. I recently visited the location in Newberry Springs, CA and posted a tribute video on my YouTube site at /bobstone1907.

According to my research:
"Recorded Live At Wembley Arena by Chris Porter."
The actual "day" is unkown, but it was either March 19, 20, 22, or 23, 1991 during the Second Leg of his Cover-to-Cover Tour.
I personally saw him at the Tokyo Dome on March 9, 1991 during the First Leg of his Cover-to-Cover Tour and I saw him perform this song.
It was GREAT!

There needs to be a thank you for the song writer, who actually wrote this song. A timeless masterpiece...

A timeless master piece, no one else should really try to do.
The songwriter who wrote this should really be the one to thank... None of these performers wrote it..so kudos to the writer...
