  • Eye and ear candy! Still amazing.. Isn't the violin player from Ireland? Peace and Love all!

  • Eye and ear candy! Still amazing.. Peace and Love all!

  • Its beyond! its Beautiful! Its amazing... truly is...

  • perfect song.

  • the best

  • Best Eurovision song ever.

  • @Verrie77 Well there isn't a rule in Eurovision about how many words there has to be in the song. The swedish complained (after norway had won of course).

  • If i compare Norway 2009 annd Norway 1995 i choose Norway 1995!! Cyprus 12 points to Norway...

  • Nomiza oti panta emas pshfizate.. =)

  • lol! Koita3e.. M arese poli to tragoudi tis elladas!! Alla to tragoudi tis Norvigias me en8ousiase kai akoma e3akolou8o na to akouo!!

    gracias Kary por compartirlo conmigo..

    una joya!!!

  • very good song, for been maid in 1995.

    it is very very wonderfull!

  • "for being made in 1995" ??

    Fool.

  • I was first impressed by them and their song from this competition (live 1995!) - many years ago. ... And I've loved this song ever since! ... Fantastic! ... & I love Secret Garden's later works too!

Thank you for the clip & this nostagia : ) from the Land of Smiles ; )

  • I love this song sssoooooooooooo much!

  • perfect...out of this world...

  • This is amazing.

Sometimes music alone can be so beautiful and touching that you don't need any words to explain it.

Back in the 90s, there were a lot more classy acts like this one at the ESC than today

  • wow

  • wonderfull song !!

  • THE best eurovision-winner song ever, in my opinion!

  • You have right! In this time winners kitsch songs .

  • fully agree with you :)

  • i love it. this is amazing but you can't call it a song! it's a tune! so that why i don't understand how a tune poped into song contest!!!

  • This song best describes Norway. Nocturne and Norway go hand in hand! If you ever come to Norway and get the chance to visit our famous fjords and landscape, remember to play this song =)

  • oh my God, I so like Norwegian music!!! In 1995,1996 and 2006 there were the best songs on Eurovision ever! Amazing!

  • Is it me, or have Norway some of the best winners ever?

  • On behalf of Norway: Thank you :)

  • I think it schould have had more lyrics to it, other than that it's a beautiful piece of music..

    - Thank you, from Norway

  • magnifico

  • This song is just genius, it got everything.

But this winner in 1995 andt the winner this year can not compete, it is two totally different songs...

  • how did norway win in 1995?? she only like in like 30 secs.. but still pretty nice song and glad they won :)

  • theres is something with Norway and fiolins:D

  • that works.. =)

  • Yeah, this kind of music is really touching and peaceful ^^.

  • Yes, I guess it is.. But I wonder how Bobbysox won in 1985, though?

  • I love this song..its so beutifull:)

  • Far better than the one that this year's hobbit sang...

  • Nice enough, and at least it temporarily stopped the run of Irish wins in the 1990s, but there's hardly any singing!

  • The violinist for this song is irish :)

  • *dddd

    PRACHTIG

    BEAUTIFULL !

  • the most beautiful music i have ever seen... awesome, amazing!!!

  • Precious, rare piece of beauty!*****

  • A special song for me since we played it on my mothers funeral...

  • This is the most beautifull music, and this is honestly to me the best song i've ever heard! Secret garden just know what tones to play to just sending u to dreamland. This is my drug, MUSIC is my drug, and secret garden itself sends me to heaven just by their name. to me, this is just something beautifull! 100 stars!!

  • Very beautiful song! The time has changed a lot in 15 years - this sentimental song has very strong contrast to dance beat euro songs that are copies of each others nowadays. This song was used in Finnish "Dancing with the stars" contest yesterday by Wilson Kirwa & Susa Mattson. Their waltz was nice.

  • i don`t understand why there some people who say that this shouldn`t have won ESC `95... this was definetely the best song and one of the best ever....

had it had more lirycs, the situation would have been the same... i bet!

  • Maybe, you tell me...

    watch?v=SQTfVmlCi3k

  • nice version....but this version is much better

  • Yes I agree! this song is so powerful and emotional!

  • ...no comment...

  • SCANDINAVIAAA

  • magnifique

  • Dette er jo bare nydelig...

    This is just beautiful...

  • There was that song song better too polish ,poland and it about a lot here mute absolutely words almost

  • I wish, I could play the violin as well as she does. This song makes me dream every time I listen to it.

  • whos the girl on the violin?

  • Fionualla Sherry

  • i don't know if its the best song of all esc's but its exactly the best "winning" song

  • haha degenola, you're a god damn retard, what the hell does his spelling got to do with anything. Poor idiot. Swedes only make shitty music. And btw, check out his profile and you'll see a perfect example of a that.

  • Deginola:Well, the ESC 2008 is an example of that.I think Sweden in ESC now is like a rollercoaster, just like Norway has been in the 2000's

  • Norway

    12 HUGE points!!

  • Beautiful, but I do not understand why they chose this music, since it is not their own.

  • what do you mean?

  • Well, the musical theme, they did not compose it, right? Isn't it from Chopin?

  • it was composed and written by Rolf Løvland and Petter Skavland :)

  • Okies then. :) :P

  • This song is so beautyfoul!

  • Like always does Norway have the best songs in eurovision.... beautiful

  • Molly:

hehe, you havent seen us(norway) so many times :P

  • Thank you for saying that, but we havent won so manny times, only one I think

  • twice; "la det svinge" and "nocturne"

  • I havent underastand why.. I really liked the one "Alvesongen". It didnt deserve to be one of the last in eurovision... that song was sooo nice

  • "Alvedansen"

  • i love when she sing: and the night will awaken for you

  • heheh

  • Wtf?

  • Ohh...I may thought your'e were a swedish.They also sayed that it did'nt was'nt a song,but Europe decided that it was the best.Luckilly for us norwegians :)

  • Wtf you're trying to say?

  • Comment removed

  • This song remind me very much about the forrest, and elfs and such. I like it very much :)

  • so magic....love it

  • The song is beautiful; so serene and peaceful. It's just a shame there isn't more singing, because that girl has an AMAZING voice.

  • Those were the good years when Eurovision was still a Music Contest!!!

  • a song doenst always need voice!

Also, the form couple-refrain-couple-refrain is just the form that prevails in morfology, it istnt the only form.....

This song is perfect and diachronic

  • The piece got some crtisism from certain countries, because of the few words in the song. However the rules of the competition stated that only a certain amount of words / time of singing was needed to be approved for the competition. " Nocturne " was well within the rules of the competition and has become one of the standouts in the history of the competition.

  • Rolf Løvland & Petter Skavlan composed the song and wrote the text. Both Norwegian.

  • The fiddle is from Norway, and it is a Norwegian folk instrument. It is called "Hardingfele / Hardingfiddle"

  • well, it's a songcontest (Eurovision SONG contest) so basicly there is nothing wrong with it. And it doesn't mean that, even there is no singing, the song is a good one.

  • solomente tengo que decir Increible

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful ...its amazing! like from a forest story or something

  • what happened with Gunnhild Tvinnereim? :\

  • vaaaay be ne sarkidir bu!

  • amazing

  • egentlig er det bare en melodi

    men fin uansett

  • Greattings from bosnia..thanks norway...for beautiful magical song.

  • No problem angooo1!

  • Magical.

  • Fantastic!! Music of gods coming down from heaven! Greetings from Greece

  • I mean too not to... typo. Anyway...

    Good Song~

  • WONDERFUL!!!!!

  • the violinist name is Fionnuala Sherry. hope this helps

  • What to say???? Is fantastic!!!!!Really!!!!!I am from Greece but i haven't listen a song like this

  • very good

  • Svenskt*

  • The violinist is Irish. Trying to find out her name - can't remember it and it's sending me insane. Magical song.

  • Fionualla Sherry is the name of the violinist.

  • it's one of my fav melodies of slow waltz...unfortunately when I hear it..I want to kill myself..:(

  • why? :(. this song is positive

  • the reason is that it gives me a great pain cause I often danced a slow waltz on this song. It's one of the most popular melodies in Russia and abroad.

    Fantastisk nationalhymn. Drömskt.

  • Det var fantastisk snilt sagt. I appreciate it, mate.

  • this song is unbelieveable.thank u NORWAY.I think all of theworld love this song.Especially GREECE

  • Yes but we in Greece dont have this kind of hearings. This reminds me more of China...

  • This in one of the most beautiful songs ever. I always get tears in my eyes when I hear it...

  • In the memory of my vacations in Geilo, Norway.

  • I think it sounds like traditional Japanese music

  • Painfully beautiful...

  • translation: Nocturne Nocturne

La dagen få sin hvile nå-- Let the day get its rest now

Og natten vil våke for den-- And the night will guard in its place

    Nocturne- Nocturne

Selv mørket må en gang forgå --Even the darkness must disappear sometime

Så natten kan føde en dag-- So the night can give birth to a day

  • Or...

    Now let the day

    Just slip away

    So the dark night

    May watch over you

    Nocturne

    Though darkness lay

    It will give way

    When the dark night

    Delivers the day

  • the name of the song is nocturne, and she is singing in norwegian.secret garden is the name of the band.

  • this is the best one

    u deserved to win

    congratulation

  • secret garden is teh name of teh song?? what language is she singing in?

  • Secret Garden is the name of the group. The name of the song is "Nocturne". She's singing in Norwegian.

  • tnx:)

  • That was 12 years ago but i still remember this breathtaking feeling when i watched Eurovision. I was hoping that the representant of my country, Poland will win (Justyna Steczkowska "Sama") but when i heard "Nocturn" i was knocked out.

After few weeks i've bought an audio casette that i keep till today.

EVERY sound of this piece is a masterpiece.

    Thak You, Secret Garden

  • secret garden is great. This piece is wonderful to listen when you sleep at night. But here is my problem.I've heard the piece sang in english and Norwegian. And i prefer the piece that was sang in norwegian.Anyone have any idea where i can find the norwegian version?their first album "songs from a secret garden" only has the english version.Any information is greatly appreciated.

  • Ya,same as me :)

  • Wow anede ikke den var norsk. Stor respekt. Episk...

Hilsner fra Danmark om alt det bedste

  • great song, bravo norway

  • I remember as a child the cool afternoons and cluded skies in Cuba and it gives me goosebumps heraring this song. Gives me such sadness to remember those who I left behind, only to seek freedom :(
