@estarenee but who's to say God's wasn't to have her become famous so that she could reach out to others? There's more to worshiping God through singing Christian songs. It's like this. Just because we are Christians doesn't mean we have to become missionaries or pastors in order to glorify God. We can do so by living and working in a way that glorifies him, using everything he's given us to it's fullest. I do animations/write music with the mind set of worshiping God, despite my works content.

Katy Perry/Hudson has NOT fallen away from God. Even today she still proclaims that she is Christian (Catholic) and still attends Church regularly. However, she has to refrain from too obviously singing about Christianity/God, other wise many of her non-christian fans would leave. Things in her songs and her videos are displeasing to God, and they are not things she has no say over, so then she is choosing to do things contrary to what God tells us to do.
Also, in my church there were peope who went every week & spent most of the time in a corner bitching about others & judging them. Then there were those who went occasionally but were kind, God-serving people outside of church.
Doesn't it say in the bible that it's better to talk to Him just for yourself, rather than making a show of it, just because it makes you 'look better'!
Call me slow -- I just now discovered the Katy Hudson side of Katy Perry. Her music is beautiful regardless of what genre she is singing. I am a christian - a believer...however, I do listen to other music besides just christian. Does that make me a bad person? A non-believer? NO! Some people need to give this girl a break. She is human - a person. She is not a saint...none of us are.

Rather than everyone arguing over Katy's religious beliefs or salvation, go out and do something that benefits others. No one knows Katy in real life so arguing, judging, or debating what her beliefs are does nothing for anyone.
I posted this music because I love it and it has brought me insight and peace when times were rough, not to start a debate. Sit back and enjoy the music. I think it's some of the best Christian music out there. Her lyrics are genuine and her voice is incredible!

@estarenee but who's to say God's wasn't to have her become famous so that she could reach out to others? There's more to worshiping God through singing Christian songs. It's like this. Just because we are Christians doesn't mean we have to become missionaries or pastors in order to glorify God. We can do so by living and working in a way that glorifies him, using everything he's given us to it's fullest. I do animations/write music with the mind set of worshiping God, despite my works content.

But that doesn't mean that ALL of her songs are that way. Some give hope to others. We need to stop thinking that one aspect of ones work/life dictates who they are. The fact that you're born-again means that you should surrender yourself and everything that you own under God's control. However, she has to refrain from too obviously singing about Christianity/God, other wise many of her non-christian fans would leave. Someone replied to my comment I wrote a month ago. I had actually forgotten all about this conversation. As I read back through what people wrote - I am giggling. A job is a job. I would bet you that while she was recording gospel - she was getting paid - it was a job. What she is doing now is her job. How many of you truly work a job that glorifies Christ? Do you really think that when someone gets up on stage and sings a gospel song that they are without sin somewhere in their life?

Actually the presence of NO RULES makes creativity an impossibility. If you removed the rules from a game of chess you wouldn't increase it's depth, you would make it absurd and DESTROY it's depth. Furthermore given the proliferation of anti-depressants and similar meds in modern society, the disappearance of rules doesn't seem to have furnished much happiness
if men had been this miserable 40 years ago without meds they'd have been killing themselves in the thousands

She's said that she still has her faith and what she sings will never change that. She's also said that what she sings is meant to be lighthearted and funny, but there'll always be people who suck on lemons when listening to her now because you can't please everyone (not direct words, but basically what she said).

And acceptance and forgiveness are HUGE themes that ALL religions practice in the modern world. Who are you to judge how someone else lives their life? Nobody is perfect and it's her choice how to live.

Up until the '70s homosexuality was classed as a mental illness - the world CHANGES, and thank goodness it has in regards to this. Sex shouldn't be seen as a dirty, wrong thing. It's pefectly natural and should be celebrated! Sex between two people who love each other is beautiful, not sinful! Unless you're highly repressed, that is.

Call me slow -- I just now discovered the Katy Hudson side of Katy Perry. Her music is beautiful regardless of what genre she is singing. I am a christian - a believer...however, I do listen to other music besides just christian. Does that make me a bad person? A non-believer? NO! Some people need to give this girl a break. She is human - a person. She is not a saint...none of us are.
A song is a song. A voice is a voice. Let her be who she is. And who is someone her hear to judge
