Back to your dojo or gym and learnd Moreno about martial art and tell you sensei or
@DbzmasterdbzNecrossR and i think that my ex jkd masters never really fight in the streets... and they pretend to teach you how to survive!! and the concept of street fight is absurde... the real winner is the guy with more friends!!! you can maybe (near impossible) disarm a knife but if there are 2 people with a knife?? martial arts exists only one vs one and the most effective martial arts have showed their power in the cage in mma.. the rest is pure fiction... a lot of people agree with me..
in my opinion if you want REAL defend yourself buy a gun, if you want REALLY fight learn MMA and consider it a sport.. wing chun and the other self defence fighting style don't have any place in our days i think they exist only for your money... a lot of so called "master" put in your head a lot of stupid ideas like you are invincible only with trapping, strike to the groin/eyes/throat and you can fight 100 enemies alone.. wake up because the reality is really violent and unpredictable..
or consider martial arts like wing chun, krav maga or traditional kung fu only an ART like drawing or playing the music not for thinking that you're invincible and get killed by real criminals... and remember that a lot of masters maybe have some street fight experience but more than half never really fight in all their life.... and they pretend to teach you some deadly skills.... however respect for good masters that have an opinion different than mine bye...
I'm going to guess you watched one Jackie Chan movie and said "normal people can't do that! It's all fake." These are not only arts, but MARTIAL arts. Designed for war. Created to defend yourself and maim and kill others if needed. I dare you to go up to a qualified martial arts master and attack him, or better yet, whip out a gun on him. They don't make you think you're invincible, they let you know to be prepared.
@DbzmasterdbzNecrossR yes that's a good concept but martial arts are degenerated in our time..i've done jeet kune do for two years (and my masters never allow us to make full contact sparring). trust me in full contact sparring vs my friends from muay thai or bjj i've never been able to use any of the move that they teach me like trapping, wrist lock, groin strike ecc. and i was considered one the best in my jkd class.. only when you train agaist a reactive target you can see what really works
All I'm hearing is "Look how fucking pumped my ego is because I do MMA. I am invincible because I do MMA. No one beats an MMA guy."
When there are two people with a knife you either get the hell out of there, or you take your chances and try to take them on individually while avoiding the other person. And you said two guys. When you use BJJ, fighting more than one on one will get you killed. So you just admitted your own martial art is ineffective. Also, kung fu can be (cont)

used for more than one on one. And the thing about octagon fighters is that they train with rules. Kung Fu guys practice killing, maiming techniques every day, because they do not fight for sport, they fight for self defense. You're just another arrogant teenage douchebag who thinks that he's invincible because he does MMA and thinks he's the freaking future of all martial arts.

It is worldwide spread since the early 1990. There are over 1000 branches or styles of it. I recommend IWTMA, EWTO or EBMAS, but there are some other good teachers of wingchun. If you see someone doing wingchun like this Master Wong-Example, do not go there. Look for a wingchun wich is not seeming to be forceful. Wingchun looks soft, but it is strong. Type `Kernspecht Chi Sao´ into youtube and get a impression of the smoothness of real wingchun.
Thats bull crap, you karate is like dancing, in no way will it help if the other person is trying to hurt you, I know this because I do marshall arts and I have never lost to a karate fighter and I have fought at least 60 of them.
Flamingaxe791, you are totally right. I used to be a blackbelt taekwando fighter before I got my ass totally kicked by a wingchun fighter, in a matter of seconds. I then realize wingchun is a no nonsense fighting art that I must learn.
i was wondering because it looks like just a lot of quick slapping and i know it isnt but im asking anyway is it really effective when trying to defend yourself in a fight
most definately is; one of the core concepts in wing chun is technique as opposed to brute strength, so making use of what you do have and mastering it is very effective and anyone of all sizes is able to adopt this style. another key concept is speed, knowing how and when to strike and knowing how to react!Wing chun also focus' on 'going in' nd by this i mean constantly harassing your opponent so they are mentally disabled and are forced to block and be cornered mentally /and or physically etc
The name wing chun is also a play on words from what I understand and means "fresh spring." The word reference refers to a new opportunity for growth for China to defeat the Manchus and overthrow the current ruling at the time. Also the spring part of the meaning I think refers to the springiness of the style. If you notice by the footwork the stand uses body mechanics in a kind of loaded / spriny manner of movement. It makes it so that telegraphing strikes or kicks is not needed.
According to legend this is the system that was taught to an orphan girl named Wing Chun or perhaps even Win Seung. A warlord and also a master of many styles had bullied her village and wanted her hand in marriage so Ng Mui ( a friend of her father's ) taught the girl the system and in one year the warlord came back to accept a challenge... if he could beat her in a fight he could have her hand in marriage. No matter what he did he couldn't beat her and he studied multiple styles.
The power in this system comes from body mechanics and things like hip torque or inertia. It is all based upon physics and is very scientific. For instance if you pak sau while shifting 45 degrees and using the hips for torque then your power isnt really coming from the wrist or arm, but instead from your entire body. This fools alot of people because the wrist stays relaxed and is able to adapt while the arm is locked into it's 35 degree angle. The power of Wing Chun is in the structure.
Since Wing Chun is kung fu there is of course soft energy that is used and as someone mentioned earlier it uses the strengths of feminine energy or softness to overcome powerful brute force, just like water flowing around a large rock or a large tree blocking a river. The forward movement of the system allows the fighter to continue moving in and limits the range of motion of the other fighter and when the back foot slides forward the fist flies forward like an iron ball on a chain
All intertia is transferred through this mechanism of movement and also the system uses the other fighter's motion against them. If they move in then you stick to them and lop sau for instance and use their forward movement with the power of inertia from your strike to hit them twice as hard. If you do this the correct way you can generate tons of power. It does not look very powerful but it is. Looks can be deceiving. This system was designed to defeat bigger larger stronger opponents.
The story of wing chun is based upon a system that was designed based upon the other animal styles. A Buddhist nun named Ng Mui stripped the styles down with some help from the other monks before the temples were destroyed, and only the most effective and deadly techniques were retained and only the most scientifically based principles. The system was invented because it was taking too long to train warrior monks to fight off the Manchus and a good style was needed that didn't take long to learn
I got all 3 levels and wooden dummy training. I am on this chum kiu but dont want to advance any further until i play with my dummy, which i got yesterday
its like 6 pounds, it was 5 when i bought it but still
Probably, the guy's a martial art master, plus he's really fast. If you look up some of the Taiji Pushing Hands competitions, some people just go flying.

Lol, Wing Chun was originally a women's self defense technique so it has a lot of fast striking. So naturally it would take the strengths of a woman.
