Lowe gave Burke the Cup on a silver platter when he traded them Pronger. Ouch. That's why he's really pissed off. Burke's legacy will be built on the Sedin's and getting people to actually stay in their seats in Vancouver. How could I call him a bust and in the trade the leafs acquired a speedy penalty killer and an amazing defensive prospect and got rid of crap. And Burke has done a great job. The team mainly Beauchemin and Komisarek are underachieving. Trade them and get some more prospect forwards and there you go because there is plenty of defensive prospects that could fill the voids.

Lowe did not win 6 rings. Gretzky, Messier, Fuhr, etc. won 6 rings. He just happened to wear the same jersey 6 times.
He is better than Burke but DON'T claim 6 rings as IF he had something to do with any of them.

The difference between Lowe and Burke:
Lowe: patiently building a team stacked with young talent and with a great future on the horizon.
Burke: impatiently destroying whatever is left of the Leaf franchise by trading away lottery picks to a divisional rival while trading away any talent for lazy, soft, perimeter, one-dimensional players or useless thugs and forcing rookies to take the heat for his disastrous moves.
I think it's pretty clear that Burke is indeed a MORON.

@bluesgurugod I just don't think burke had a lot to trade other than draft picks. and getting phil kessel was pretty good i think. john ferguson messed the leafs up wayyyy before brian burke stepped in. the leafs are gonna have to eat dirt like boston and pittsburgh for a few years getting beaten by EVERYONE before they get anything good.
it's hard to try and get any good deals when the leafs only have draft picks and kaberle to offer.

@bluesgurugod Any Leaf fan can tell that Burke has built a pretty good team. The Leafs have a lot of good prospects as it is with Gustavsson, Kadri, Shenn, Gunnarsson, Bozak, Aulie, Kulemin, and Blacker. And he landed Phaneuf for nothing and acquired Kessel an amazing player that just needs have a good actual first line center with him and could easily be a 40-50 goal scorer with his skill. Solid goaltending for the first time in years. The only problem is Beauchemin and Komisarek.

im not arguing. u have to have a point in order to argue. they fact is we got a face of the franchise for 3 third liners and ian white, who is garbage. i could trade 20 guys for 1 and those 20 guys combined could have 200 points and the 1 could have 65 points but in your mind the other team won the trade. get real man. using words like ignoramus doesn't make your smart. so my example with crosby, is that trading away your future? admit your wrong or admit your dumb. thats all

He was an All-Star in 2006 and 2008. Then he had a career low in points with 47. He's not bad. I think you're not understanding me. He is good but not amazing. The bottom line is this: look at the Leafs in the standings. They stink! I never said I didn't love the team, because I do. They just suck.

well here's the thing
brian burke has a cup, he built the canucks to what they are today (without him, they have most of their major pieces missing)
and he's built the toronto maple leafs into a strong team on paper since the phaneuf trade. in fact, the leafs were something like the 7th best team in the league since the trade in january 2010

I love how Kevin Lowe talks about winning 6 Stanley Cups as if that's even relevant. Lowe won all of his Cups as a player, so how does that have anything to do with a feud between two executives? Burke has won a Cup as a GM, which is something that Lowe failed to do.

@LeftieJamKeenly I think cup wins are sometimes factored into hiring decisions for head office, but that aside, in Lowes case his real failure was trading Pronger to a team that was already heavily-stacked in the same conference as Edmonton. Why Lowe, why? Should have put Pronger out East with the rest of the canon fodder.
