I luv dis sh%t! I love TCM late at midnight+ they should kick the horrors on at late night. Hound of Baskerville or sumthin. They showcased Buster Keaton a few nights ago--what a treat! To me this aint EVER old--it's gold. It's simply classic. The nicks and pops in the film celluloid--you just don't see that anymore. And i was born in the 70s. An era where film was being used. And 'Fright Night' came on late with Chistopher Lee. Koloff. I've learned love and respect these movies. Beautiful b&w!!
such a great little flick! i watched most of this with a friend, and it was the first time we'd even heard of it. so, when we watched it, he had to leave near the end! i thot tht was funny cuz tht was the best part. does anyone here remember the dancing scene in the ballroom?
I have certain favorite horror flicks that I watch every Halloween. Horror Hotel is in the top 5 must see movies for that holiday..Felt bad for Lotte..
i got to buy me some of these old movies, the plots are fantastic! I never watched horror growing up...and never watched anything in black and white until youtube when i watched 2 kill a mockingbird..but i am loving all these black and white movies!
What an awesome movie! I remember as a kid my sisters and I watching this in the dark on the sofa. Then my oldest sister had to turn the lights on upstairs before we could go up to bed. We climbed the stairs as a group...Terrified! Great memories!
What a wonderful movie! Good Quality. Excellent. It's good to see a scary movie can be done so well, especially regarding the genre of Witchcraft- so spooky. this movie does it right.
i saw this film for the first time on a Saturday at noon on the old "Creature Features' in New York. I couldn't been more than 7 years old, and it is still the only horror movie that ever scared the crap out of me...that and the American versoin of ,The Conquereor Worm", two years later with Vincent Price. The greatest genre in the history of film!
1:24- Lee looks absolutely sinister coming out of the shadows.great shot!
As to the eerie silence and strange inhabitants, it maginifies the horror knowing that somewhere as we speak, there are some places that embody that disturbing trend.
You too huh?!? I got MY initiation to Horror Hotel on WNEW 5's Creature Features (Channel 5 New York) same as you! Early 70's as far as I can recall.
CF died out in 1980 after about 3 years of "all nighters" hosted by "The Creep" Lou Steele. I remember him sitting under the studio lights with his leisure suit and shades, speaking in those menacing tones.
Someone NEEDS to find a CF opening and video and post it at YouTube!
This movie is also the very definition of atmospheric. I enjoyed just looking around the town and at its strange inhabitants even when then was absolutely no dialogue evident on screen.
This is one of the very best old B & W horror movies from the golden age of horror 1955-1965.I used to watch this on Saturay nights on Creature Features or Chiller and it still creeps me out a little.
Happy Halloween from the Horror Hotel! Having a Wonderful time! Wish You were Here!

I love these old horror movies. I wish they would air the older ones during October instead of the newer ones.

SEE IT! Sorry for the caps but this is as good as the early 60's B movies get.
Very atmospheric and quite sinister..it's like a short story out of one of those old horror comics that came out in droves around that time period.
The uncut DVD goes under the title "City Of The Dead." Belive me, you won't be disappointed.

"Horror Hotel" moved to WOR later on during the decade. I believe that's where I first saw it.

It was really cool to hear Christopher Lee play a straight American accent too. That was really unique.
And the ending scene in the graveyard at the stroke of midnight was a really great, very cool. A very different ending.
The imagery and the story remind you of something from those old "Weird" and Tales From The Tomb" pulp rags by Myron Fass' eerie Publications.
