  • Roy was always classy, anyone who says he wasn't is a straight out fair weather fan who just wants to start shit. I was lucky enough to watch Roy pitch since i was in middle school right to my college days, so i know that every time he took the mound he put his heart and soul into every pitch. JP was the one who fucked up this team by overpaying for mediocre players. Roy was the reason we had many years above or around .500 and not look like the Pittsburgh pirates. True Jays fans don't bash doc.

  • @1020Shane

ya, i would bash just about any player...except for doc. he left a impeccable impression in toronto.

  • boo hooo

go cheer on the leafs legends who have never won anything until they left the team.

    boo hooo

  • 2 not hitters in a season...1 being a perfect game along with several shutouts throughout the season. I love the Doc. We Love him here In Philly. It's good to See Toronto fans be happy for Halladay Still Even though he left. Toronto fans seem to be decent.

  • @YargDisease that is because he didn't pull off a lebron james. he was classy about his leave, and showed great respect for toronto. he gave us 12 amazing seasons, and deserves nothing less than a championship ring. as a blue jays fan, i am rooting for phillies to win it all. i liked the phillies before, but i like them even more now that halladay is on the team.

  • @kennygmang1

Regardless of where he came the bottom line is he wants a championship and he felt by coming to philly he has a great chance at doing just that, sure he played over 10 years with the blue jays he even put out a add in toronto press thanking the fans. I will make a bold statement If Doc wins a W.S with the Phillies and most likely finish his amazing career with the phillies, I bet he retires as a Phillie.

  • Just got his second no hitter; first playoff no hitter. He's a Philly.

  • Roy for Cy Young. That is all.

  • what does "being classy" mean in baseball? just wonderin

  • @golsonkp not ignoring a kids autograph.... talking to people, not being a dick

  • Roy Halladay is a great representation of what PHILLIES BASEBALL is about..............Roy.....win CY Young and give philly another ring......but even if the phillies can't get a ring this year.......you are still in a class with Steve Carlton as the All-Time greatest Phillies' pitcher of all-time!!!!!!! You were WERTH (yes that is a statement that J-Werth should be resigned) it ALLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • @antman0789 no hes more of a rep of toronto baseball, people from philly are assholes lol, and im from PA!

  • @antman0789

He's not a fucking Phillies pitcher. Never will he be one.

Sad thing is, you Phillies fans are claiming him, and that Roy's the "best pitcher" that you guys probably ever had.

I don't mind if he's in Philly, or if you guys enjoy him over there, but Phillies have NO FUCKING RIGHT to claim him, even if he wins like 3 WSCs, which he won't.

He will ALWAYS be a Blue Jay, and retire as one

  • @kennygmang he left toronto to get to post season and beyond and since toronto could not do that. PHILLIES WIN BY DEFAULT BRAH.

  • @kennygmang we had carlton and schilling dumb fuck

  • @kennygmang he's on the phillies. and he's a pitcher. therefore, he's a phillies pitcher ;)

  • roy halladay will always stay a bluejay and hes going to the hall of fame as a bluejay also

  • @btdog12345 hes gonna want to be remebered as a philly...you know a winning ball club because the blue jays eat a dick..

  • Heh

Jonathan Sanchez is on pace for around 190-195 IP and 33 starts. Roy Halladay already has 171 IP... through 22 starts. He's on pace for 274 IP (!!!!).

  • I wish Halladay went to the Yankees. I modeled every way I pitch after him. He's on the Phillies though. Best pitcher in the last 15 years.

  • @Letsgo76ers

Best? Not sure about that. That title might belong to Pedro.

  • @EeVvAaNn3 oh yeah. it's hard to forgot about someone who randmly pops up in the middle of the season the last couple of years. how many seasons did he have with asub 3.00 era? i guess i don't wanna say he is he best since im a yankees fan, but he is

  • @Letsgo76ers

Pedro Martinez? He had 7 (9 if you want to include his '93 and '01 seasons). Hell, Pedro had 2 seasons with an ERA below 2 (1.74 in 2000 (the "year of the home run") and 1.90 in 1997). Pedro also had a WHIP below 1.000 6 times (lowest WHIP was 0.737).

Halladay was able to pitch more innings than Pedro in his prime though, I'll give him that. Pedro was more dominant though, especially in '99 and '00, which were two of the greatest seasons for a pitcher ever

  • @Letsgo76ers

And as far as Halladay goes, he has 4 seasons with an ERA under 3 (5 if you want to include his short '05 season).

  • @EeVvAaNn3 pedro is #1. but halladay is definetly in top 5 if not 2. the top pitchers after pedro are pretty close i think

  • @Letsgo76ers all time ill take maddux over pedro though, maddux in his prime vs pedro in his prime would be a helluva match up but i think maddux would take it.

  • Roy Halladay=Classiest guy in baseball

  • we picked up victorino and werth off of wavers... how are the phillies flaunting a salary cap like the yankees? ... we payed big from our farm system for halladay... okay, so we payed alot of money for an ace pitcher.... the fuck are you clowns talking about when you say were buying it ... all of our stars were coached up from nothing or drafted aside from halladay ... even polanco came up in philly for the most part. you people are retarded

  • @JKaiserable I don't don't about you but I think were seeing a familiar baseball version of brett favre against the packers. J fans: don't feel betrayed he still loves you guys. Thank you for him so much!!!!!

  • he just got a perfect game, eat that grantbulldogs5 halladay forever

  • Cy Young

  • deep down halladay wants to destroy that ball and make sure it never sees the light of day. ahh doc's the best.

  • It bugs me when people say that the Phils are becoming like the Yankees of the NL because they have a moderately large payroll (148 Mil), yet they don't realize that the core of the Phils team was farm raised and to get good players like Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay, we had to give up farm players. Yes, to keep players like Utley, Howard and Rollins, Ruben Amaro had to increase the payroll, yet that doesn't mean the Phils are like the Yankees because if they were they would've kept Cliff Lee...

  • I am by no means a Yanks fan I'm a jays fan (and now a phillies fan every 5th day) but the core of the Yanks were all home grown as well. Jeter, Posada, Rivera, Pettite, Cano, Cabrera were all drafted by the Yanks. In fact last year 56% of the yanks 25 man roster was home grown. thats tops in the AL and second overall. And no team is like the yankees: payroll. they have an extra 50 mil in payroll than even you guys. So i wouldn't worry about it when people call you guys the yankees of the NL.

  • @SSrollerz Of course there are exceptions with Jeter, Posada, Rivera, and Pettite, but guys like CC Sabathia, A-Rod, and A.J. Burnette are the reason most people don't like the Yankees. The go out and buy talent just because they are a rich team. The Mets, Red Sox, andYankees are like the bullies of the MLB when it comes to the free agent market because they have all the money in the world to spend. BTW, Cabrera isn't a Yankee.

  • My prediction for world series... phillies vs red sox. Phillies take it in 6 games, everyone remember this post.

  • @gaminkalv kina like the prediction you guys made against Yanks last year in the W.S? was it rollins?...phillies in 5? lol

  • @gaminkalv failblog son

  • @gaminkalv remembered it, at least they got as far as they did with their pitching

  • i know this guy

  • that's so sad that Roy halladay is leaving the JAYS !! . But he had a pitching record for the JAYS it was 17-10. 2010 will relly change for the BLUE JAYS and phillie fans your glad you have roy halladay on your Team . i wish he whould sign another year with the jays !!

  • @forum2cracka

Roy Halladay was traded by the decision of the new GM of the Blue Jays (Alex Anthopoulos). Not that I'm glad that Halladay has left the Jays, but to be honest, I think Halladay is better off with the Phillies since he stands a strong chance of winning the World Series.

I just worry about the Jays because they're in the AL East and they just lost their best starter.

  • @nairblin ... you guys have some great young talent, kyle drabek is a huge prospect, travis snider will develop into a power asset in the lineup, and your farm system looks tight ... maybe phils and jays '93' rematch is in a 5 year future ... your squad will be fine bro

  • @forum2cracka well 2day hes gonna try to win

but he sill loves u guys

its brett favre all over again

  • Lets go Phillies

  • it wouldn't surprise me to see doc win 25-30 games with that team you've got there. remember hes coming from the AL EAST and he CARVED the competition to pieces every. single. time. you guys have no idea how good of a player you just got, but you'll see. consider it reprerations for '93...

  • Thanks man. I can't wait for the Phillies season and see what Halladay can do. Sorry you guys had to see him leave. I know he was very special to that city. But look at the bright side of it. I think you guys are going to love Drabek. He's a very special prospect who I think will be big in the majors.

  • I can barly hear what there saying LYRICS PLEASE

  • Lee didn't want to be in Philly, it was all business. Halladay is thrilled to be here. Can't wait to see this guy eat Yankees and Red Sox for dinner while wearing red pinstripes. This guy is super talented and a class act. Philly will fall in love with this guy and totally forget about Lee.

  • i liked what you said here...lol

"Can't wait to see this guy eat Yankees and Red Sox for dinner while wearing red pinstripes."

    Go Phils!!!!

  • @johnph96 LOL! World Series 2010 seems to be destined to be Phillies vs. Red Sox, but I want the Phils to dethrone the Yankees. I want the Phillies to be the ones to strip away their pride and silence Yankees fans!!!

  • @WorldTradeCenter2011

    Yeah baby!!!

  • @Jasafar hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha look at philly now

  • I can't stand some philly fans that can't let go of Lee. Sure he was amazing in the post season. But he was a philly for only HALF A FUCKING SEASON. You guys are making it sound like he is long time and loyal philly ace. Just think about Jays fans losing Halladay after 1 2 years. Halladay has the superior stats over 6 years. Lee has had good years for only 1.5 seasons. So give me a break. Phillies have pretty much locked up their division.

  • @gaminkalv this person has a point(spelling?) I was thinking the same things to and i'm a Phillies fan, I liked Lee but I understand what had to be done for the team in the long haul and trading Cliff Lee for prospects was it.

  • hes called doc becuase he regularly pitches clinics againt opponents. the doctor is in folks , good luck in philly, welcome to toronto drabek wallace and d'Arnaud.

  • Actually hes called doc for doc holliday from the old west.

  • this dude used to throw overhand at around 100 but no control they changed his arm slot to add movement and no hes the best in baseball

  • I'm just takin it in he's gone... Man I've been a fan since 2000 this is gonna be so weird not seeing him it gives me chills

Wish you the best man much love from some jays fan

  • anyone knows why he's called the DOC? seems kinda weird

  • Doc Holiday and his last name is Halladay so broadcasters call him "Doc" Halladay or "The good doctor"

  • I thought they the doc because his pitching is so precise... like a surgeon.... and thus, a doctor.

  • well do you know the real Doc Holliday? the one famous for the gunfight at the O.K. Corral (western thing), thats where he got his name from

  • @YXdude They call him "Doc" because of his percision. Like a surgeon? Get it? Doc = Doctor! Not some western gunslinger.

  • because there is a character from the west side

called doc halladay, and one of the old commentors called him that

  • and because he visits the medical doctor every few times during the season because of injuries

  • When did I act like I knew everything? There is nothing that knows more than facts, which clearly state Halladay is, and always has been, a better pitcher than the 2 hit wonder.

  • You responded to my comment pretty fast. Get the fuck off youtube and get a life. Beurhle said it himself, lucks gotta be on your side to have a perfect game. Haha well your the first one to resort to insults by calling me an old fashioned idiot. So you set yourself up for it. And the fact that your freaking out about everything i say means im getting to you and you know im right.

  • I happened to be on youtube.. you responded to my comment very quickly too..? "you're so fuckin retarded its nasty".. pretty sure that's an insult. It wasn't directed at me but you still started w/ the insults. Please, show me one form of proof that shows that Buehrle was better this year, or at any point in their careers. You won't find one because Buehrle is garbage and won't even finish in the top 5 for AL cy young voting while Halladay will win it. aahahahha Buehrle what a joke ahahahaha

  • nice try but i can respond to your gay comments from my phone.

  • Too bad you didn't on that occasion.. If you do, I really feel sorry for you. Going on youtube responding to comments while you're "out" (which you pretend to be, although you clearly aren't) is pretty pathetic.

  • Your so ignorant it's nasty.

    Career Stats - Halladay - 142-71 - Win% .667 - Era 3.45 - Complete Games 45 - Shutouts 12 - 20 win Seasons 2 - Cy Young Awards 1

    Buehrle - 133-92 - Win% .591 - Era 3.80 - Complete Games 24 - Shutouts 8 - 20 win seasons - 0 Cy Young Awards - 0

  • If you're talking about this year he has more wins, a way better ERA, way more complete games, way more innings pitched (in less starts), way less runs allowed, less home runs allowed, less walks, and about 60 more strikeouts. Better win % on a worse team, a lower WHIP, a lower opponents batting average, a lower opponents slugging percentage, more ground ball outs, less pitches per inning.. I could do this all day.

You're totally right though, Buehrle is sooooooo much better.

  • thanks for agreeing that Beurhle is better. And please do it all day, waste your time giving me meaning less stats that i dont give a shit about. :] but thanks again for saying Beurhle is better. I appreciate it

  • ..because you're just an old fashioned idiot who knows nothing about the game of baseball. He hasn't even earned 2 no hitters.

  • haha i bet i no more than you. Maybe you no more about MLB player stats than i do. But thats not knowing more about the game of baseball. You think u know more because you jack off to sportscenter everyday and memorize every stat possible. Your a disgrace to baseball. And Buerhle does have 2 no hitters. No hitter in 2007 and perfect game in July 2009. So shut the fuck up, get a girlfriend, get off the couch, and stop acting like know everything. Douche

  • What more is there to know? Halladay has been better than Buehrle, whether it be this year or his entire career. There is not a thing that proves otherwise (oh ya, 2 no hitters!!!!!) The perfect game wouldn't even have been perfect if it weren't for Ozzie Guillen and Dewayne Wise.

    2. I have a girlfriend, thanks. The fact that you're resorting to insults is proof that you've given up and finally realized you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.

  • @billgridzak LOL someone was comparing Buehrle against Halladay?!?? Buehrle isn't even in the same category as Halladay! LMAO that's hilarious! lol

  • @billgridzak dont fir get the perfect game! GO PHILLIES

  • @billgridzak

Wins and losses (for pitchers) are a stupid stat, as it has more to do with the team (run support, bullpen, etc.) than the pitcher himself. But yeah, this isn't really close

  • @billgridzak

lol who said Buehrle was better then Halladay?

  • @billgridzak haha. did someone really say that buehrle was a better pitcher than halladay? that's got to be one of the dumbest things i've heard in a while.

  • @billgridzak make that 2 cy youngs.

  • theyre both fuckin nasty but a no hitter or a perfect game is very rare and has a lot to do with luck and halladay has more wins than buehrle pretty much every year and he has a lower era so even though he hasnt thrown a no hitter halladay is still the better pitcher

  • Ah, idiocy shows.

  • He has the most complete games since 2003, the most wins, the best win % for pitchers who've pitched 100+ games, one of the top ERAs, one of the top WHIP, the most innings pitched, etc. What does Buehrle have - 2 no hitters that are mostly determined by chance? Would he still be as good if he had allowed a bloop single in both of those games and didn't have a no-hitter or perfect game to his name?

  • its wierd if you look at alot of the pitcher who ahve had no hitters n perfect games, alot are not ur top pitchers, i mean there are some on there but... n halladay is the best pitcher in baseball ur right, burhle cant compare to him, santana n lee might be only to near his league, but burhle isnt a scrub either hes top 10 pitcher

  • naw, greinke, hernandez and lincecum are the only players who can compare to him, santana hasn't been doing that good and Lee was terrible until he moved to the NL which is easier to pitch in. I'm a Jays fan but I hope the Phillies win the world series, Halladay really deserves it considering he's been the best since 03 yet he hasn't even played a playoff game.

  • not like stats wise like how they pitch smarts wise, how they set up hitters, hernadez n lincecum got nasty stuff but n grienke, n santan had an off year cuz he was hurt, n lee was awesome past two years for indians he had great era n tops in quality starts , but had one of the worst run supports per start, felix just start being top of his game he was good but not great years b4, same with grienke, also with him his competition level isnt high but hes nasty, lincecum is dirty though

  • thats why i said they only compare to him cuz they been doin consectively n way they work on mound, more santana then neone compares to roy

  • I hope you know you're just about the only person in America that thinks Mark Buehrle is the best pitcher in the AL.

  • hes not going anywhere........ ACEPT NYC BABY

  • hes gonna represent nj hes going to be a yankee

  • F*@k the Yankeeys!!!!

  • @Chicagoathletics f the popo

  • But I still can't believe that the Phillies rejected a deal that could land halladay in philly.the blue jays wanted J.A Happ,Kyle Drabek, and Dominic Brown for halladay i'd make the deal!

  • LOL at yankees fans- i thought you had the reputation of being knowledgeable? the yankees have ZERO chance of getting halladay....hes going to philly

  • is he going to Philly? Looks like hes still in Toronto. Why would the yanks have had 0 chance of getting him? They have the prospects and the cash to afford him after his contract is up. LOL at dendenod. I'll slap you right in the dick

  • I will really miss Doc in Toronto. He deserves to be on a winning team, and if it can't be Toronto, then he will have to go somewhere else. We'll miss you Roy. You are 100% class. Wherever you end up I hope that team wins the World Series.

  • roy halladay yankees

  • Never, unless you throw in the best package. JP would NOT deal inter league UNLESS you put in the perfect CAP FITTING (Yankees have the biggest payroll) package the deal wouldn't be done.

AND PSSHHH he wants to go to a contender anyway. Yankees always choke in the playoffs.

  • I believe contender would mean make the playoffs. Which is where the yanks always end up. I cant stand when people make stupid comments. Yankees have the most WS titles in the past 15 years. GET SOME YOU DUMB BITCH

  • 2004 playoffs good shit boys nice choke!

With that payroll it should be 15 WS titles in 15 years.

  • months later but, i cant resist a lil JP bashing.

riccardi was a fucking moron, i havent liked him for years.

lets see what this new GM can do.

the jays got some good blocks to build around:

hill, lind (silver sluggers and hill would have a gold glove if werent for polanco), romero, and a bunch of other promising starters, mills, rcepzinski, cecil. marcums mcgowan has heat but injuries mbe not back in 2010

i hope halladay is not a jay next year cause he deserves to win which aint happenin here

  • I think we took care of that for you in the last 24 hrs :-)

  • come to the phillies, pick any 4 prospects you want

  • Nah he is GOING to the YANKEES

  • YANKEES BABY

  • Roy Halladay Future YANKEE

  • Keep Dreaming!

  • i'm a jays fan and a halladay lover

we need to trade him for the sake of compassion...the man has given us so much, but he deserves so much better

greener pastures ahead Doc! We'll be with you all the way up here in Canada!

  • Agreed. I'm also a Jays fan, and let's face it, this team is going nowhere anytime soon. Doc deserves a chance at a World Series ring. I hope they trade him because I'd love to see him compete in the playoffs.

  • HE BETTER COME TO THE YANKEES

  • semir313 u are not right i have played and loved base ball all my life and where we live the baseball is actually really good....btw we live in nova scotia canada

  • I live in Newfoundland, Canada and I agree with you 100%. Canadians do in fact care about baseball. Heck half of the Seatlle Mariners fans are from British Columbia!

Roy Halladay is a fan favourite all over Canada. I don't understand how someone could say Canadians don't like baseball. Clearly an uneducated douchebag remark.

  • right!!!!

  • halladay has a serious chance at winning the cy young this year. we'll see how he does once he gets back from injury

he is straight up the best pitcher in baseball, the only reason he doesn't get that much hype is cause he plays in TO. if he played in NY or BOS, he'd be a god. toronto first basemens always hear opposing players on base, saying halladay is the best in the league.

    hall of famer for sure

  • hes the best

    roy halladay 08/09 cy young

  • Roy is the best pitcher in Baseball Period...CC who??.....but Cc plays for a bigger market and will win the WS before Roy will....Roy needs to go to a bigger Team....Dodgers...Red Sox..Mets...Tigers...and WIN a Title.....Canadians dont even care about Baseball

  • I wish doc would show more emotions during the game. His head is always down after every inning.

  • He is all business like.

That is why he is so good. He doesnt get phased by anything. He just goes out and does his job.

  • what a horrible comment... this guy plays as competitive as anyone.. very hard on himself and a proven winner. bravo to halladay for always keeping his emotions in check!

  • a horrible comment? how? i never said he's not competitive, wtf? i just said he doesn't show his emotions, ITS A FACT

  • Obvouisly you've never seen Doc pitch before because everytime he makes a stupid mistake like letting off a SINGLE on an 0-2 count he'll usually look pretty pissed.

  • i've watched doc pitch a lot of times, both on TV and at the game, i meant emotions when he did good things, like no joy

  • Ah Well its better than acting like Joba Chamberlin.... giving fistpumps every time he strikes somebody out

  • yep, i hope roy pitches good tomorrow in the all-star game, he's had a few rough starts since coming back, mostly because of lack of support from the offense.

who do u think would be the closer for the jays now that blow job ryan's released? downs?

  • When Roy was a junior in high school, he told me he would win the Cy Young Award. He's a man of vision. Gotta love the Mormon Ace!

  • He doesnt talk during games becasue he is in the "Zone" bitches

  • Not now chief, I am in the fucking zone!

  • fav player....best pitcher in the game.....cant wait for next year...hoping for a surprise run!

  • Comment removed

  • the blue jays aren't in the AL west

  • lol n00b Mnuts94

  • roy is a great pitcher thats why we should not trade him stupid j.p. and that bird nose

  • I actually agree with that now becuz aj is gone and we should get some prospects in return

  • dude cmon the jays came close this year with 80 som wins like the yankees suck this yr the and tampa bay got soo dam lucky this is the jays time to step up and shine

  • wow, do you know anything about baseball?

Arguably the Yankees have put together the best line-up and rotation in the majors this off season, The Rays were not lucky, they have an incredible team and proved it all season long.

Bassplays prediction: Toronto in the basement of the ALEast this year... and hopefully JP gets fired.

  • yeah ur right but when i wrote that two months ago i was speaking from my heart not my brain but also at that time the jays wer in like 1st in the AL east for spring training u cant blame me for hoping for the best

  • oh and btw look at the standings right now yo whoes winning what? whoes playing over 500? yh thats wut i thot

  • Man, this was posted before the season started. No one is more pumped about how the Jays are doing than me.

Should work on that spelling... maybe figure out what by the way means.

  • lol man you were a bit off with your prediction...

The Yankees better have a good team with their budget, its insane how much money they can spend, the cap rule means nothing in baseball, thats what pisses me off..

And whats with the Rays?? I really enjoy watching them but theyre sucking this year

  • maybe when he's older they can trade him to give him a shot at the WS if he doesn't win it by then but for now they absolutely need him if blue jays want to win.

  • Fuck That hes gonna retire in Toronto

  • Nah, I think I'd like to see him get traded to a contender in 5 or 6 years, get the Ray Bourque treatment. If anyone in baseball deserves a shot at a ring right now, it's Doc.

  • Doc is a great guy. Thats why he is my hero!

  • ya but he doesnt tak during games.

  • Roy is great with the fans.
