The sample is 480p and it is not representative. The camera gives wonderful quality at full HD. Adobe Premiere Elements 4...8 may be used for preparing small video-clips - all video formats are supported. You may check-up my samples (Sony HDR-12). The best way to watch the video clips from the camera without processing is to place the clips on a small HDD and watch all of them on TV via HD video player (ex WD HD TV player) like slideshow.

GSMVIEW, the SR11/12 records .M2TS files which are AVCHD type of video files. They are not readily played on a computer. If you want to view them, google 'k-lite codec pack' and you'll install a viewer that can play AVCHD files. If you want to edit, you'll need an AVCHD compatible editor like Pinnacle Studios, or Sony Vegas. I myself use Nero Vision to conver the AVCHD to MPG or AVi and then I edit.
Apparently, there are 2 types of camcorder: the studio & retail model, info that is not revealed on the website, trapping you to a low-price transaction. This is what's called false advertising. If you're lucky, you'll get a camcorder (studio) that would only work after you have spent another fortune on accessories. If you're unlucky, they will debit your credit card & give you many false claims as to why the item can not get to you, giving them enough time to earn some interest off your money.

in Canada, its about 1100 to 1200 $CAN. There are no 'Spectacular' special effects, only high frame-rate recording, black and white, sephia, and i think thats it.
@JoeyJr702 - it also has a 'pastel' effect (for groovy "flower power" look) & an effect called "Old time movie" (looks rustic like the 'sepia' choice, but also 'feathers' when the cam moves (like putting a slow running fan in front of it - to give that old ragtime/western film look. There are other special effects that you can do, but it is new to me too. surely worth it though. i bought mine used for 600. super lucky- super happy. i couldn't afford the 3,500.$ one, so this is the next best.

the sr12 has 120gigs an the sr11 has exactley half of that...unless your not guna transport your pics an vids later you shoud be ok with the 60gig

The only difference is that the SR-12 has a 120 GB hardrive, and the SR-11 has a 60 GB hardrive.

What kind of computer are you using? Software? I use final cut 6 on a new iMac by log and transfering the footage.

I use Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 HD on Windows XP Pro. I have a 2.0GHZ core2Duo mobile, and rendering times are quite long. how about you?

i agree...convert to mpeg file and render same format, u can also use .avi format, but the file will b larger and take longer to load on youtube

The only reason I use AVI is when i'm gonna burn a clip to a DVD, because for storing, AVI is ridiculously big.
