  • @kanishta108

the pleasure was all mine : )

  • mon re monwa, moner moto pagol peelam naa...

( My mind, i could not find a madman like you dear my mind)!!

  • @abagchi77

thats wicked.. thanks for the translation

  • In my opinion the translation would be:

"ami moner moton pagol pelam naa" that is "I could not find a pagol of my choice" here "pagol" does not translate to its literal meaning, which is a lunatic, but here the word "pagol" is used to refer to a true devotee of god -- or one who is truly in search of truth.

In fact many of the great Shakti Upashaks (Worshippers of the mother goddess) were referred to as khyapa or pagol e.g. Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Sadhak Bama Khyapa

  • Thus "ami moner moton pagol pelam naa" -- would translate to "I am yet to find someone who is a true seeker of truth/god/nature or a true yogi"

Then he says "Ami tai to pagol holem naa" -- "thus I did not become a pagol myself" - which is to say: since I could not find a true teacher I was not motivated to leave everything behind and go out in pursuit of the truth or go out in serch of god.

  • After this he goes on to say how a true pagol shoud look like, and cites the example of the Hindu mythological charcter : Shiva and says how Shiva consumes poison* (garal) instead of nectar and spends his time in graveyard/burning ghats (shashan) instead of staying at home (dalan)

He also says during the Koli age the true pagol was Gaurango who shirked all his friends and relative (lajey shango pango) and how he inspite of being a kid caused such an uproar or change (korley ki rango)

  • (korley ki rango -- ths literally translates to: made such a drama) and finally gave up his life by exclaiming "Jai Radha" by jumping into the sea (kalo jaal - black water)

then at the end he says "ami nakol pagol shokol dekhi ashole pagol dekhi naa" -- which means "I only find fake "pagol" and havent found a true "pagol" yet" this further corroborates his first line -- "am yet to find a true pagol".

  • To sum up: Its very difficult or almost impossible to find a true master or someone who is gebuinely in search of God. God here does refer to any partcular hindu diety but it means the one true god.

    Hope this helps !!!

  • @abagchi77 Hi : ))

In my opinion : moner moton pagol pelam naa -- would mean couldn't find a pagol to suit my mind. eg "moner moton jama pelam na" OR "jinishta thik moner moton holo naa" -- please let me know if you think I am not correct

    Thanks. : )))
