  • This is incredibly beautiful.

  • What camera make and model are you using? Very crisp!

  • @bonbon1985 The camera I'm using is a Sony HDR-XR500V

  • From one Skip to another.....This is a outstanding effort and shows tremendous details in cloud structure and movement that if often not seen at normal speed. Will recommend as spotter training material to our crew.

    .... Skip Voros, Milwaukee Skywarn.

  • @MilwaukeeSkywarn Thanks Skip... you guys are welcome to use this for your Skywarn training.

  • 5:30 omg thats crazy how it all just spins. really nice vid this is too cool :D

  • your videos are amazing

  • this is so cool....just wish i could really drive that fast. =)

  • what camcorder you used, if you don't mind?

  • smart you got the camera on your roof. And very great quality i must admit.

  • This is truly amazing. Guys GREAT job on this. I literally was mezmorized watching this. You can actually see how the tornado begins. This WAY better than just using hand helds. You can see how everything starts and ends. AWESOME job guys. Please keep posting videos like these.

  • Incredible! I was chasing that storm too. What a treat to see the storm's evolution so well documented! I love how you can see the gradual formation of the RFD and low-level rotation. Thank you!

  • Fantastic video!!!!!

  • great stuff matey!

  • Simply incredible. Hands down THE best timelapse I have ever seen. Very nice work Skip!

  • This has to be one of my favorite time lapse videos of all time! Great job Skip...keep 'em coming! How many miles do you think you covered?

  • @mmcgwire About 100 miles in that video, probably over 600 miles for the day, and over 2600 miles for the entire trip

  • Amazing vid

    Fantastic job

  • Wonderful video. Loved begining of it where u showed exploding updraft towers of some good looking storm, then when turned cam down and it was amazing how fast base of storm changed into mother of monsters lol. That's actually the only vid around showing end of that huge wedge. It fell apart just after being reinwrapped, right? Sry for my English btw.

  • @polishchaser1 It doesn't actually show the end of the wedge, it continued on for a few minutes and did rope out to a certain extend from what I've seen in other videos. It did become heavily rain wrapped after that though.

  • Epic.... Really cool to see the storm go thru its different phases at 16x.

  • Skip that thing as always simply amazing!

  • awesome vid Skip! I posted on SCL also for our subs to see - this is good stuff!

  • Im lovin it Skip!! Been wanting to do this for a while. Do you have a monitor to see what the camera sees inside the car?

    Very good!

    Mike/W4UAV

  • @W4UAV Yes, I have a tuner that creates a webcam out of the camcorder's video out and gives me a preview on the laptop screen, which is what I also use to stream over the internet

  • Epic.

...And then Skip wept, for there were no more tornadoes to conquer.

  • so this camera is mounted to the top of the car?

  • Wow Skip... great video. Love the sound of the 16x tornado siren when you went through that town (assuming that's what it was!) Very cool.

  • @leporinis That was indeed a siren. It sent shivers down my spine to hear that siren and then turn the corner and see a huge wedge coming in.

  • I have to ask. Is that a Bubble Cam? how was it made?

  • @TheStormchaser09 It is indeed a bubble cam. Its a camcorder mounted atop pan and tilt servo motors and housed under an acrylic dome. The whole assembly is custom built and bolted to the roof rack.

  • @SkipTalbot How hard is it to make? And can it work on a roof without a rack??

  • @TheStormchaser09 Not too hard, and where there is a will there is a way. Without a rack you could strap it down or drill through the roof (or build your own rack).

  • @SkipTalbot What are the Basics on making one? Something like that would be pretty tough for me without the right tools!!
