I enjoy your channel and agree with your philosophies / observations. I live in Texarkana and recreate in the Ouachita Mountains often. Great job, keep it up.
Thank you for all your podcasts (video or otherwise) I have always tried to have a prepared mindset, but have to admit I have lived more the grasshopper lifestyle. Starting my trek to becoming an ant is going to take a while but since I am starting in 2011 and you have had over 600 podcasts already I won't run out of material to learn from any time soon. Regardless if I agree with you 100% or not. Again Thank you.
The most concening thing to me, is that everyone of the skills our grandparents took forgranted we have lost. If the lights went out and the water turned off, people would die because they are too dependent on technology.
Hi, you may well be aware. There are brackets you can add inside your attic to the roof to make it a lot more tornado resistant. I saw this on the internet a few years ago.
I subscribed to your videos. I think the US will eventually default on it's debt and the central banks of the world will issue some sort of new currency. In the time period between collapse and rebuilding, I suspect the doo doo to hit the fan.
It's cool that you had some success with your garden this year, and you have to
go with what works for you, but with all the downsides to wood mulch (nitrogen taken from the soil, nuisance fungi, mice and voles love to hide in it, not to mention the money that most people pay for it) it seems obvious to me that there are some better choices (like free leaves that your neighbours will put into bags for you). But to each his own.
@jknkers - I am sorry but it most certainly is. My results and the results of thousands of others prove it to be so. The very fungal activity you fear I encourage. Search "greening the desert" here on Youtube. Fungi in the words of Geoff Lawton are the "teeth of the forest". Be open to other methods, trust me on this. The more mulch I use the better my results. I had peppers this year so big they broke branches on the plants. I had to machete tomatillos to get between the rows.
@jknkers - Actually that is a myth on the wood chips. Check out permaculture for one angle on it. Also Mother Earth News ran an article about the wood chip myth recently. They can take up some if tilled in but even that is temporary. On top of the soil they quickly develop a fungi net that breaks them down and greatly improves soil over time. The only concern is initial application up to about three weeks, a bit of supplemental nitrogen during that time handles it, say chicken or cow manure
@manta400uk - Because you are not just betting on failure but you are betting on complete total failure in a relatively short time period. You are just as foolish to bet 100% on total failure as people are that bet on 100% success.
None of us know the future, prepping is about preparing for the good and the bad and living better either way. Those who bet ONLY on failure generally do worse then those who are totally blind to any dangers. It is all about balance.
shit...that dumb motherfucker is gonna walk right into the FEMA camp with no resistance...new report...states have killed over 170 million people in the last year alone
@armalabama - Black Helos after you bud? Guess what now that you posted to youtube they can find you, you better hide.
People like you are going to do really poorly when TSHTF. I for one won't rely on FEMA and people like me will recognize people like you swiftly, you will be fully on your own at best.
As for calling me a motherfucker, real mature. Why don't you do something to help people prepare rather than insult those who do?
Yep Sub-2000 by Kel Tec in 9mm. Takes sig mags, I wanted one that took Glock mags but they are getting pretty hard to find. This was the only Sub-2000 at teh last gun show I attended.

@thirteensworld - thanks and I hope no one ever agrees with me 100% of the time. That would scare the hell out of me LOL.

It's no myth.
Check out the article by the Ohio State University Extension on nuisance molds and fungi in mulches.
Shredded leaves or just straight compost are way better mulches for backyard vegetable gardens.

Nice looking garden!
It would do better without the wood chips though....they will definately take
alot of nitrogen out of the soil as they break down and they
tend to harbour pests and some nasty fungi that could even stain
your house or your vehicle....great idea to stay out of debt and store food, 'cause
the American economy is slowly collapsing.

Can someone explain why someone should pay off their debts with a very likely economic collapse coming?
Why is it better to pay off a non interest accruing debt than spend money for foor/water storage etc
