  • ha charming and very young with a lot of energy

  • hrm Feeling like having a little fun

  • I wonder if the writers of "King of the Hill" had this in mind in the episode where Hank has to give a sperm sample and when the doctor asks if he'd like a magazine he asks for Popular Mechanics.

  • peter cook was so gorgeous here wasnt he? and dudley ..:)

  • Mahwidge.

  • This was amazing ly funny, brits rule

  • Rape Boo Nurse.

  • Would someone please upload Goodbye Again's "Long Distance" (ATV 1968)? I know that it still exists, as there's a clip in "The Comedians' Comedian."

    Many Thanks.

  • not. funny.

  • @jdjbarnat You're an idiot.

  • not actually that funny now, is it?

  • @iBeep2009 Yes, it's as hilarious now as it was when I first saw it. Actually, I think it's Dudley Moore's finest hour.

  • @lomax343

i like the part where he makes that action 'tipping' to insinuate peter's been drinking . so funny

  • @iBeep2009 It's timelessly sharp wit...

  • Peter in all his glory

  • at 0:13 it looks like Dud goes to say "we're getting divorced" as Peter says it. Two geniuses on the exact same comedic wavelength

  • who's the boxer ? i apologise for my ignorance

  • @rayads786 - I might be wrong but I think it is the same boxer on the front of Paul McCartney's 'Band On The Run' album and just checking 'Wikipedia' I see the name is John Conteh.

  • @terrythekittie yeah it sure looks like him, ty

  • reeeeeeally reminds me of john lydon...

  • Is Dudley Moore Richard Hammond's dad ?

  • As funny as it gets. One could watch them forever.

  • Is the black guy a mute?

  • I'd love to see the rest of this old Parkinson episode- does it exist anywhere online?

  • Tears rolling down my face from laughing.....I think I need to watch again as my laughter cut off some of the jokes. Classic stuff.

  • Peter Cook was in that film the Princess Bride as the creepy bishop. He is so different in real life. wow

  • Dudley, who traditionally is portrayed as being very subservient to Peter, really doesn't seem like that here. He's hilarious. They were a bloody brilliant pair. Such a shame so many of the Not Only... But Also tapes were lost.

  • The best interview with Peter and Dudley ever!!! RIP Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.

  • I LOVED Peter Cook in The Comic Strip Presents.....so much better than shit comedy today! (Not including The Thick of It, best comedy ever)

  • Man...can you imagine if these guys were around today? They'd slaughter the media. Absolutely fucking slaughter. I mean, just picture these two on The O'Reilly Factor. Tearing him a new asshole.

  • @MsBabster There are some Whose Line Is It Anyway? skits with Peter Cook and Stephen Fry

  • Classic - the way he looks is - he is just toying with the interviewer - waiting to pounce on the slightest mistake. Try searching ' frog and peach'

  • The Cricket Innuendo's are Brillant.

  • The Spanish Peter Cook, check out the video entitled;

CASOS ATUTXA, BOTÍN, IBARRETXE, YAK 42

    It is really rather strange.

  • i'm too not-british (maybe too american) to get most of this but the parts I do get I love

  • he is so handsom and single but he is a father naneedj.info

  • Brilliant.

  • It's nice to see them both in good spirits considering their relationship was in such bad shape that year.

But great interview. Conteh's face is an absolute picture.

  • RIP GUYS

  • superb that cook is so sharp witted that he spots Conteh's discomfitude at 3:28 at the sex before a fight question and makes a quick joke to deflect- 'no sex DURING a fight'!

  • @ santefering ........ LOL ....... I think you are probably right here, and Frankie may be quite helpless for a few minutes, but imagine what it would be like when they have got going! I think both of them have always been genuinely generous towards all other comedians, whereas even here in this interview, Dudley Moore persistently tries to upstage Peter - but never quite manages it! LOL

I love Dave Allen too. Had to beg my father to let me stop up late to watch him.

  • @miranda669 i don't really get the impression of upstaging, Peter clearly has the most airtime and I thought Dudley gave a worthwhile contribution, but that's just my perception. Comedians often tend to interrupt eachother as thoughts come into their heads, and it can make it funnier. However I think the way Dudley reacts to Peter interrupting him at about 2:11 kills me.

  • Interesting at 3:15 the Fighter was ask if he had sex before a fight?? He never answers the question. This energy-wipe-out-after the sex act may be the reason the Sports beings are told Not to have sex before a game. My question on this issue came up after dicussing energy + the sex act. A friend sent me a link: A person using a dowsing rod said," the pattern he gets dowsing a dead body is the same as when he dowses a being that just had sex." So "NO SEX for the SPOTS GUY Before game. ;-) Hmmm

  • @santefering

Frankie Boyle! To have had Boyle, Cook and Fry sitting chatting together would have been hysterical.

  • @miranda669

I agree, though I feel that Peter Cook would reduce Frankie in to tears of laughter.lol

  • I'm 22 and I have a such a crush on Dudley, always have.

  • These guys hated each other.

Cook hated Moore for his films love hate relationship.

    I miss Cook and moore.

Guys iam sure your still not getting on in Heaven.

  • @kirkwanglers32 these guys DID NOT hate each other. There was a time when Dudley went to hollywood and Peter stayed home and hit the bottle. But they are two people who actually, genuinely loved each other.

Just look through some of their work together and you'll see it.

  • @kirkwanglers32 Not so!

  • This is better than Health & Efficiency

  • the blonde guy looks exactly like

    Stewy in Mad Tv

  • One of the funniest interviews ever! Haha they were on fire...seems to me that peter ignores some stuff dud says but still amazing!

  • what year is this? i'd say like 1976 or something...

  • @georgeharrison22543 The year is 1978. At one point Cook talks about the "story of the test tube baby". The first test tube baby was born in July 1978 and this was filmed just before that. Cook & Moore were on the show to promote their final feature film together "The Hound of the Baskervilles".

  • The discourse, the banter, the satire, why it's the stuff of pure comedic genius, Thank you Pete and Dud, God Bless ya, Neville Bardoli

  • These guys hated each others company.

  • @kirkwanglers32 It was, eventualy, a love/hate relationship.

A marriage, bliss at first, then nnnnnnngggghhhhhrg!

  • A curious feature of Cook the raconteur was his own feigned slummy estuary accent. The funny voice was a big part of his comic performances; usually mocking some northern European sophisticate or pretentious little domestic proletariat. His humour was symptomatic of a transitional period in television when the establishment wasnt sure whether it should be laughing at the masses or with them.

  • @johnsammyanfal oh how times have changed .... oh ... wait...

  • @johnsammyanfal Sorry could you run that past me again, it got lost somewhere in translation.

  • @johnsammyanfal That is a very deep observation which I will certainly chew upon.

  • haha, whao settle down there, perhaps you're in need of sexual healing

  • wow, peter cook has so much of john lydon in his eyes in this interview. or vice versa, rather.

  • John Lydon Eh?? I cant see that at all, John Lydon has that stare. Peter Cook hasnt got that has he???

  • The English are just so embarrassed about sex, that they all find it hilarious.

  • Exactly. We find room to laugh.

  • twat

  • and what nationality are the comedians??? dick head!!

  • Actually i think american is much more reserved..and this was the 70's. the US was much more reserved then and still is

  • they arent even embarressed they are JOKING

  • he looks like johnahan ross

  • A prize fighter being intimidated by two comedians... It's sad, really. Poor chap.

  • I used to live at 14, Croftdown Road, Parliment Hill in 1972 and John Conteh had the ground floor flat. He was a really nice guy and i am sure still is.

  • Simply Superb Stuff - pure genius Neville Bardoli

  • 'I like John' Great line..Cracks me up the more I see it.

  • RIP Dud-Peter.

  • Dislecktix yoo tube : it's the bast ?

  • Peter cook has that ( I could say anything look in his eyes here. This was bloody good but I was bitting my fist watching it.

  • coming slowly over the wicket here's michael parkinson hahahahaha

  • Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were two of my favorite comics / actors, and Dudley plays a mean piano too.

    Nice upload :)

    tnx

  • bullshit !!!! moore died : 27 March 2002 and cook died in 1995

  • he means PARKINSON - he was reclenlty on tour in Australia....

  • This is when Cook was at his funniest just riffing and bouncing off Dudley. I remember watching this as a 16 year old back in 1978. Saturday nights would involve going to the pub and then coming home in time to watch "Match of the Day" followed by Parkinson. I think John Conteh had lost his voice.

  • He look a little like Jonathan Ross.

  • Dudley is soo good looking

  • Peter is way funnier than Dudley.

  • Well done. Go to the top of the class

  • Dudley was more the straight man to Peter Cooks characters, but Dudley could stand on his own in the movies. Then again I don't think it is possible to be more witty then Peter Cook.

  • Peter Cook is one of the great Comics of our time, and probably even a time after that. Not only is he funnier than Dudley, but he's funnier than nearly all people in the comic proffesion.

  • yes but when the two were playing off eachother Dudley equalled Peter. Their chemistry was great! plus Dudley was a musical genius!

  • I would sell my kids to see peter cook n stephen fry in conversation

  • Check out Cook's perfromance on "Whose line is it anyway" with none other than Stephen Fry. It's on Youtube.

  • they said that earlier in the day when they had been rehearsing he was brilliant, however his performance was slightly hindered on the night by his intoxicated state.

    doesnt matter though.

  • I don't think Peter was that drunk on the night because compared too when Parkinson interviewed all four of the Beyond the Fringe team. There Peter was much more pissed while that interview than he was here

  • Comment removed

  • no, i was replying to CNicol40 for when peter was on Whose Line is it anyway?

i'd imagine peter was sober here, not that i watch each of his interviews and judge his alcohol consumption level.

  • yeah, anyone who thinks peter is pissed here hasnt seen peter really pissed. he could get the drinks down him like fucking nobody's business

  • @MsBabster I'd sell my kids...period.

  • @MsBabster some parent you are!

  • @MsBabster YES!

  • I love how Peter Cook almost never blinks. He'd be champion, in a staring contest...

  • I couldn't put my finger on it, I just thought he had very piercing eyes, but it's true, he hardly blinks. He has real Scorpio eyes. And you can almost see the wheels are turning in his head as he's speaking, always thinking ahead of the others. Very intelligent eyes. The guy is brilliant.

  • I saw John Conteh in Finchley Road Sainsbury's a few months ago.. in the 'Organic' section! Still looks in great shape, I wouldn't fuck with him.

  • What a life Parkinson has got to live. Imagine getting to talk to all these people. Even if it is somewhat staged.

  • Peter and Dudley are the greatest duo ever. But I feel Peter Cook on his own is the greatest solo comedian EVER!! If anyone can recommend to me a comedian that may come close please let me know, as I would love to give them a try.

  • accidentally thumbed you down when i was meant to give you a thumbs up

  • I'd love to say there was another, but the word 'unique' seems to have strung itself together from a disparate collection of idle letters, mearly gathered for the sake of describing Peter's great brilliance. Sorely missed, a real one-off.

  • @santefering carrot top

  • @santefering Spike Milligan.

  • @santefering I know you must have heard of him but george carlin was pretty funny too!

  • @santefering

Frankie Boyle! To have had Boyle, Cook and Fry sitting chatting together would have been hysterical.

  • @santefering Stewart Lee comes close, but such is the genius of Cook that its difficult to parallel any comedian, past or present, with him

  • Spike Milligan...and that is the ultimate compliment to the genius that Peter Cook was

  • Comment removed

  • @santefering If it's clean a comedian, there is the best of the best Ken Dodd, another clean comedian not as great Ken Dodd but lot better then Jerry Seinfeld, Brain Regan. But the best not clean comedian is Eddie Murphy, then other not clean but great comedian's are Eddie Izzard, John Cleese, Robin Williams

  • @santefering HICKS :)

  • Two geniuses at work. Poor guy on the right couldn't get a word in.

  • i think it is JOHN Contey (?) who was a good boxer in the 70's

  • Fabulous--another classic Pete and Dud exchange!

and Peter is outstandingly brilliant !

  • ha ha yeah, derek and clive - hilarious

  • cunt

  • fucking cunt

  • Peter was so damn handsome and funny, what a shame. Of course Dudley was a genius

  • Peter all the way!

  • Is this after Dudley became a star in America?

Peter was always the funniest one and he usually had the lead, but Dudley seems more loved by the audience in this clip. I guess they changed roles after Dudley's movie success.

To bad, because Peter Cook is better

  • Heh, I bet Pete was really pissed off when Dud was getting all the laughs doing his schtick whilst Pete was trying to get his verbals out.

  • Dudley Moore was far more visual humour where Peter was much wittier. It's quite a shame that they didn't last much longer, because, before they seemed to try to out-do each other (like here) they produced some pretty magnificent sketches. But, I suppose, one must move on.

  • "No, it's during the fight."

I wish i knew more (anythong) about wicked cricket

  • hahahaha :)))

  • At their best

  • Absolute Legends!!

  • i would have married peter cook and put up with anything!

  • Does anyone know the year?

  • The year is 1978. I remember watching this show when it was first transmitted. At one point Cook alludes to the "story of the test tube baby". The worlds first test tbe baby was born in July 1978 and this was shown just before that.

  • Thanks very much for the info. I appreciate it...

  • the high street shop'mr cheap'and this is my day!!

  • has parky got a wig or is it a shitty 80s comb over

  • heh, this is very clearly the 70's, kid

  • the third guy is a boxer if i'm not mistaken, name escapes me... if he's the guy i'm thinking of, he had a lot of talent but ended up getting carried away with all the booze and birds... cant say i blame him when it's that or getting the shit knocked out of you in a boxing ring...

  • Looks like John Conte to me

  • The third guy was the boxer John Conteh

  • World Light Heavy Weight boxing champion from Toxteth Liverpool

  • Who? Parkinson? I never knew he boxed!

  • They make a monkey out of Parky here. He starts stuttering, twitching his ear and moving around in his chair! LOL!

  • May have spelt his surname wrong.

  • John Conteh, British boxer

  • Who's the third guest? Please respond to this comment

  • Your spot on Hove - Moore and Cook were astonished that anybody found Derek and Clive funny and they became completely disillusioned and depressed.

  • They are funny blokes.

  • This made me laugh

  • I knew you'd be an old bastard, it seems the Derek n Clive stuff was ahead of its time

  • Does anyone have this entire interview?

  • Peter Cook especially was a comic genius.

  • well john do you have it or do you not?, he never answered!!! hehe!!!!

  • such handsome devils, i really can't think of anyone of these times that match pete and dud.

  • Yes, you say they arn't good yet you have a 'Derek and Clive' and a 'Not Only But Also' sketch in your favourites. I think your just jealous.

  • No I am just stupid.

  • HALE AND PACE? idiot.

  • their the best

  • Never mind whether or not comedy has changed or society has changed, there's a celebrity smoking on television!

You honestly cannot get away with that these days

  • 'maybe you'll score later'.

Funny how comedy has changed. These days if a comedian said that there would be complete silece as no one would find it in the slightest bit funney.

  • It's true. Though I think it's not comedy that's changed, but society. Nowadays we've become more accustomed to explcit contents, and subtleness has lost nearly all its value. There's a certain social candor that I feel has been lost.

  • That's a very good point.

  • If you've ever heard any of the Derek & Clive recordings, done at about the same time as this interview, you'd know that Cook & Moore were pushing boundaries back then that very few comedians up until the present day have ever the balls to push.
