  • great video man, done it myself on a D6C dozer. Thanks for getting this on. Nice shop by the way just great.

  • pretty good. jus did the tracks n sprockets on my Cat 527..the sprockets were as sharp as a chipper knife

  • I agree. excellent video

    I have a Mitsubishi BD2F , and a JD 450E

  • Great video, do you know the name of the second song in this video, it came from one of the oceans movies.

  • i work with my dad and grandpa in the summer at there shop....very intimidating when there wachin over you but i learn alot...anyway nice cat

  • just the fact that you are willing to get dirty AND have the knowledge and skill to service such a vehicle puts you 1000x ahead of many an out of work MBA from the financial sector in this country. Perhaps if people learned to do things like engine swaps and sweat copper joints, we'd be in better shape. kudos to you, I love workin with my hands and tinkering and you look pretty skilled to me.

  • are you referring to me or to the guy who mace this video? im lost to what your talking about

  • of course! i am fully aware of the fact that you are a skilled mechanic and have done this before!

  • are you commenting ack to what i said?

  • the tracks alone are roughly around $2000 or more for the set. then you have labor which according to different shops might vary by hour depending where you go.there alot that goes into this stuff, and skilled mechanic i wouldnt call myself that, but i did go to college to be a heavy equipment mechanic, so im learnig everyday still.

  • nice shop

  • It's easier to roll the new tracks out on the ground in front of any track machine and drive it off of the old tracks onto the new ones. you can change the sprockets as you roll forward onto the new tracks. Use a big chain to pull the tracks up and around the sprockets while pulling the machine forward onto the new tracks. Use a chain come along to pull the tracks together while putting the pins in. No jack or jacking required.

  • We had to jack it up anyways to do the sprocket.

  • Great vid!! I'm in buisness with my dad also. Not alot of people get to work with their parents. 5 stars!!

  • what do you do with your dad for work, i also work with my father everyday

  • i dont mean to be rude, but how much would that job cost the customer? (curious)

  • more then some one would want to pay, it all depends on the shop and time and tools needed to take off old track and put new one on.if you catch what im saying.theres really no set price

  • Segments and alligator links are great.

Stay away from the system one undercarriage.

It is a big piece of junk. Give cat a few years to work out the problems.

  • i think the best thing cat came out with is segmented sproket links

  • GOOD JOB GUYS!!!!!

  • does JC whitney carry those replacement parts? Can i get jackstands for that thing at auto zone? I will never feer working on my 1980 grand prix anymore while it's up on jackstands.

  • are you kidding?

  • Excellent

  • very good more of this maintance

  • Great Video! Thanks for posting... What year D5 is it?
