We need that Harvest for the World today now more than ever. Repeating history's mistakes over and over again is senseless. Nation after nation hear the voices.......we're speaking for the children!
I have not lived in 70 years, but I like a lot and have much respect for singers and groups of black music that came out of this wonderful time of musical culture worldwide. Listening to this song reminds me of when I was a child and saw all parents dancing and singing these songs happily. Now that's real black music.
Quanto è bello quel passaggio armonico D11 Gmaj7 C11? Oppure, in altri termini: C/D Gmaj7 Bb/C...
@luvureally Thanks Rudlof Isley..i will remember that...geez that guy doesn't look any bigger than the others until you take a closer look..Thanks and good day. namaste'
Thought about this song on Veteran's Day "Dress me up for battle, when all I want is peace, those of us who pay the price, come home with the least..."
@12rdbk When Jesus returns...this world is in desperate need of a savior..some will be saved and some will not just the truth..wish ppl could see we need to prune, get rid of all those cobwebs and weeds that obscure the view so the truth can truly be seen..God I pray that he send our deliverance this world truly holds nothing anymore..killing all around us, death, it will never end till Jesus comes back
just because everybody after 79 likes different music doesn't mean anything

"Dress me up for battle when all I want is peace, those of us who pay the price come home with the least"- this is a shame that over 34 years later, we are still talking about solving the problem of homeless veterans, it makes no sense whatsoever!!!!
@gotham531 Your right on the dime. He describes our living conditions today. We continue to wait for Christ's return. In the mean time, we are commisioned to continue His work and sow the seed for the great harvest, the rapture. So....suit up with your armor, the armor of God, the bible says, and if words are not listened to, this song will be. What a great way to reach the hearts.
As I listen to the words, I wonder if the message I got from them will translate today. Will this new generation take the challenge put forth during the 70's? Will they take the mantle? Do they understand what was meant when Ronald asked the question "When will there be a harvest?" Maybe the 70's was TOO deep. So many visions of a new world with the same objective. Very few get the message James Brown was trying to convey. How do we expect the new generation to grasp Lonnie Liston Smith?
@tendure00 --LOVE the IB! I remember Lincoln Heights (where the IB are from) My grandma lived on Schumard Ave--anyone from the hood remember? LOL The Harvest is coming--I'm glad people are now recognizing the genius of the Isley Bros--too bad only Ronnie.

we the people of this country, the usa have been for many, many years made it very possible to take a stand and provide enough for everyone but ourselves, we are the most strongest nation on the planet and we still seem to have a homeless and hunger problem here in our very own backyard and that our government seem to still not be able to fix it, so why not a harvest not only for the world but the usa as well...
@arthurpaddlesme ??? We don't necessarily have homeless and hungry people here in the U.S. because of the "government" unable to remedy the issue. I'm not talking about all homeless people, but you also need to address the issue of substance abuse, people having kids out of wedlock and that they can't afford, and some who fail to take charge of their destiny. We have a myriad of charity and social programs for the poor here in the U.S.....poor people don't have to go hungry. Peace!
This is such a gorgeous song from an incredible album. This band is one of the greatest of all time and should get WAY more respect than what they do. When you realize that they've been going since the 1950's and had a hit in all of those decades, it's truly amazing and the 1970's was truly their peak of creativity. Great Post
@Soulman785 ....1976, it was. I was only 13 ..3 that come to mind ''Right Back Where we Started From'' ''Wake up Everybody'' and ''50 way to leave your lover'' Just to name a few !!

It's an age old Question, when will there be a harvest for the world? No time soon I think but the Isley Brothers did a beautiful job in asking this question. A heart felt song with not just a social conscious issue but no matter what background you come from you're wondering and asking the same question I know. This song has a very simple down to earth feel about with the instrumentation, just a simple piano, drums, bass and a 12 string guitar. A down to earth arrangement for classic song.
Gather every man, Gather every woman, Celebrate your lives, give thanks for your children! Gather everyone, gather all together, overlooking none, hopin' life gets better for the world!
Nice song. When will there ever be a harvest for the world? NEVER. Sadly, the world is just too messed up. Too bad too. This song really does bring out the peace and love that so many people desire. TT-TT Let's all just hope that we aren't alive when the real serious troubles begin.
Who here remembers 1976 and this Isley Brothers song? Does this song have a good message and can you understand what lead singer Ronald Isley meant when he said "When Will There Be A Harvest For The World'?
@kjchicago1 I LOVED this song in 1976...and Harold Melvin & Bluenotes "Wake Up" and Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin On"...not that they were all 1976, but that genre of music...social statements. I still play those tunes to this day!
Can someone help me with the artist/group and title of a song? The song start with "We gotta dance, just me and you, it´s so romantic, let´s see what we can do" and a little later in the song: "The man i just found expected to be alone"
This song goes out to my mom Sharon Newton I can remeber you dancin in the livingroom rite while I dance with u I truly miss u thanx for my memories Isley's one of the greatest songs from the rhythem to the lyric powerful
One of the greatest R&B bands of all times! And this is one of their MANY CLASSICS! Ron Isley has an AUTHENTIC male soprano voice. That's not a falsetto he's singing in. He's one of MANY great R&B males vocalist... he's right up there with M.J., Stevie & Marvin. Thanks 4 Posting. This is one of my all-time favs!
this should be played to all the war starters," dress me up for battle, when all i want is peace" shame on you all killing for oil and heroin control!
@MOLLIEfranksjones It was the time that makes this song so good. Now is it the best Isley Bros jam? Probably not. But for some of us growing up (black) all we had was this music to get us thru each day. Those times were hard and these cats, along with Teddy P., and Marvin G. saved us from ourselves, not to mention EVERYONE ELSE!!!
It's a warm summer night-- the whole world is out groovin-- me and my buddies drive our street machines, or old beat ups to the appointed place, break out the cans of soda and the snacks, sit shoulder to shoulder and drink in the warm summer air filled with so many unspoken poems and sighs on it - and shoulder to shoulder we sway side... to side, to this wonderful song. Every night should be like this.
why oh why does'nt this kind of music exist any longer. Songs with meaning, inspirations, concern about the world, people just stopped caring about it, now its all meaningless, repetitive one liners, sex, violence, more sex, cussing etc. etc. Thank God for Utube, here you can still find peace of mind. EPIC ISLEY BROTHERS
There is so much happening in this song. "Half of us IN NEED.........As the seasons come and go, greater grows the pain....and far too many, feeling the strain...Ohhhhh, WHEN will there be a harvest, FOR THE WORLD?" Gather every man. Gather every woman. CELEBRATE your life..........Gather everyone. Gather ALL TOGETHER.........Open up your LOVE. HOPING life is better - FOR THE WORLD.
to the 16 dislikes...y did u listen to it if u don't like it? pls don't say that was first time hearing that old song. u know u like it. u just wanted to be different.
When i listened to this song in a presentation in assembly at school once, i fell in love with this song, and the words are so true, when WILL there be a harvest for the world?
Dear sir, it's only a joke and no more. Please learn to live with the fact that there will be people who sometimes like to joke around ESPECIALLY on the net. I'm not assaulting the Great Steve!
16 dislikes? Hmmmmm. They all must have hit the wrong button by mistake! This is some of the finest music you will ever hear. Gotta love the Isley Brothers! Thanks for posting Crustybrown.
@cwash2005 I think that the dislikes were due to that dumb carton or commercial when you first click this song. People are growing angry at posters who ad their own advertisment and jokes before the clip we want to see or hear. Some of these links say thing like "The video the Government or youtube doesn't want you to see" then when you click on it, it's some clown with a con game or some stupid video thats disrespectable to President Obama or something. Malik Jubal
This is a song with a message, but you know people don't get it, they didn't get it then and don't get it today, and for all the greedy political folks who sponges off poor and helpless people and never STOPS, how can the harvest ever be enough for the world?
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE RECORDS. When will be a Harvest for the World!!!!! MIN R.E.Cummings JR. WAI inc circa, 2011. Longevity thats The Isleys. With That LADY!
WHEN THE EVIL OF THIS WORLD BEGINS TO BECOME TO MUCH TO BEAR, LOOK TO JESUS AND HE WILL GIVE YOU PEACE, AND COMFORT AND UNDERSTAND UNTIL HE RETURNS............
We need that Harvest for the World today now more than ever. Repeating history's mistakes over and over again is senseless. Nation after nation hear the voices.......we're speaking for the children!

He's one of MANY great R&B males vocalist... he's right up there with M.J., Stevie & Marvin. Thanks 4 Posting. This is one of my all-time favs!

@MOLLIEfranksjones It was the time that makes this song so good. Now is it the best Isley Bros jam? Probably not. But for some of us growing up (black) all we had was this music to get us thru each day. Those times were hard and these cats, along with Teddy P., and Marvin G. saved us from ourselves, not to mention EVERYONE ELSE!!!
sexybisquit 11 months ago 2
@sexybisquit Real jams like this kept me in line with reality, I was a child when this was played on the radio back in the day.

Peace

why oh why does'nt this kind of music exist any longer.

Thanks for posting Crustybrown.
cwash2005 1 year ago 39
@cwash2005 I think that the dislikes were due to that dumb carton or commercial when you first click this song. People are growing angry at posters who ad their own advertisment and jokes before the clip we want to see or hear. Some of these links say thing like "The video the Government or youtube doesn't want you to see" then when you click on it, it's some clown with a con game or some stupid video thats disrespectable to President Obama or something. This is a song with a message, but you know people don't get it, they didn't get it then and don't get it today, and for all the greedy political folks who sponges off poor and helpless people and never STOPS, how can the harvest ever be enough for the world?
