@Natthegolfer No not at all! In fact I had just got done telling my sister not to worry about the tornado warning b/c we never have "real" tornadoes in this area. (we're from Tuscaloosa so that's what we call real tornadoes)
where were driving too, thankfully I was in VA this weekend I live in Holly Glen off Avent Ferry my house was fine but wow about Avent Ferry. I can't begin to imagine how scary it must have been.
@KnTCJG we saw it taped off from the main road. We didn't realize the damage and ventured over to Harris Teeter to shop after the storm (when the sun came out and it was a pretty day). We weren't even positive it was a tornado until we saw that.
@Urgo6667 I just watched your video with the aftermath footage and shared it on my FB! Have to admit I sorta thought the people in front of the ABC store snapping pics were dumb. So dangerous with the powerlines compromised. I'm all for journalism but powerlines scare me more than the storms.
I was watching from my porch as that tornado hit by the Harris Teeter on sunset. I'm about 1 mile from there. I was trying to get a video, but my my camcorder was dead. It was HUGE. I didn't even think it could be a tornado as it was so big. Scary. The farm on Pierce Olive got hammered. Thanks for posting.
@stacianne5491 yes it touched down and there was quite a bit of damage. We went out later to get groceries and saw that it had touched down in a Harris Teeter parking lot and then went across the street and into a subdvision where it took off rooms and lots of trees.
Does holly springs have tornados often? I hope not cuz I'm moving there this spring
