You hit the issue on the spot! I agree 100 percent with you that ASL is better than oralism. I admit that I been in just deaf programs then mainstreamed in high school all my life BUT I always used ASL and had many deaf friends who used ASL. My parents know sign language luckily! Oralism really infects all programs and school for deaf children and we gotta fight for their right to sign! You did good job, LChaim2007! Oralim SUCKS for deaf kids and ASL rocks! :-)
This morning, I toured an oral deaf school and met some of their students. The students tell me its easier to find summer jobs than if they had been using ASL all their lives. Theyre happy theyre not going to be a part of the turbulent ASL world.
I didnt know there was a Kendall school in Tulsa Oklahoma.. Interesting.
