  • everyone...try to watch as well "philippine eagle in the wild" (the video is not in high quality) but you'll see how a female philippine eagle protects her chick from a hawk...so cool. God bless everyone

  • @sarahawardify that was a good video thanks. i love watching things about the natural world. these birds are amazing creatures. did"nt know much about these animals until i read a small book about them. i discovered that the biggest nest ever recorded was by two bald eagles. it was unbelievable 23ft high and 10ft wide. its remarkable to see how these animals instictively know how to do such things.

  • The picture of the harpy eagle at 0:49 is like o no she didnt

  • der könig der vögel

  • who they hell has a favorite bird of prey??.....is there a list too??..

  • @MarvinRobles18 aparently this guy lol

  • 0:15 very very very fake. Africans harpies? Pffff

  • @Eduranzoni

    Owned by self! xD

  • Congratulations, you compiled a bunch of unoriginal stuff into an unoriginal montage.

  • I think it's great that you have a favorite bird of prey!

  • Harpy eagles are under filmed. I'm sick of seeing the same old animals on these nature shows.

  • Harpy eagle VS Philippine eagle??....

  • @mynameispepoy Harpy is more versatile and adaptable. Not too mention it's bigger.

  • @WildlifeSeriaLKiller Not really. The Harpy, Great Phillipine and Stellar Sea eagles have pretty much the same wingspan and tip of beak to end of tail feathers measurements. Now if you are talking weight averages ...

  • You mother wins...

  • always been my favourite bird of prey, very striking, very powerfull, amazing.

  • I´ve seen this bird in a zoo in Recife-PE-Brasil. It was easily destroying a chicken with the claws and the beak. Everything, the bones was like paper in it´s beak. It was amazing to see the strenght of it eating it´s lunch. doubtless the greatest eagle of the world.

  • Harpy eagle vs philippine eagle.. philippine eagle will win :DD

  • my 3 fav animals in no order: Harpy Eagle, Penguin, Dog

  • lol a harpy ain´t an eagle it´s smt like a hawk

  • 0:41 surprise

  • owned @ 0:38

  • freagle7 - size and bulky are two very ambiguous terms. but i think we agree that both birds are beautiful.

  • 00:15 was that Harpy Eagle in Africa? because it looked like it was hunting Thompsons Gazil I thought Harpy Eagles lived in Central, South America.

  • @Dealz1988 It;s a Martial eagle africa's largest eagle.

  • looked so small on the video, but i saw a couple when i went to guyana, the thing is HUGE, like watching it fly int he air and in the zoo,

  • this eagle is badass if i saw that bird on 0:52 looking at me i would be scare

  • theyre amazing birds so cool

  • i saw one today when i went to the zoo they are AMAZING. and so pretty

  • i lovew the harpy eagle

  • goddamn that thing is huge

  • 1 of my fav eagles along with the Golden,Wedge Tailed,n Philippine birds of prey

  • is this the largest eagle in the world or the golden eagle is

  • philippine eagle is the largest eagle in terms of its size. harpy eagle is the second largest but is very bulky. its also da heaviest eagle: 9kg in weight.

  • Comment removed

  • i think the phil. eagle and the harpy has the broadest wings for its size. it seems that they both can lift pray that weighs almost as much as they do. i think the WIDER the wings are, the MORE heavier pray can be lifted. because WIDER WINGS can generate more flying power, AND slow flight in a forest canopy. wallacetic, what's the heaviest pray on record that the phil. eagle lifted.thanks XD!!!

  • Philippine eagle has the Broadest wings among all the eagle species capable of more powerful lift than any other living eagles. Their wings are short for their size but broad with rounded edge and long squared-off tail, an adapatation for quick turns and maneuveravility in dense forest.

  • the sloth was pwned!

  • For me, I believe that there is more things we can discover with the power of the Philippne Eagle. It is so rare to be photographed or even captured in camera carrying large preys however, just like wallacetic said, I respect those ornthologists who did their study and recorded the some facts about the Philippine eagle. I believe in their credibility. If the say it carried a matured macaque in one leg and a 30 lb deer to its nest then so be it even if the Phil. is just 15-17 lbs. So POWERFUL!

  • If your not convinced with the deer.. let's just go to one of it's fave prey... The Philippine long tailed macaque which weighs 4-9 kg large males weigh up to 20 lbs It still the heaviest.. Harpy's largest prey taken/carry off was a 17 two-toed sloth and a 15 lb red howler monkey.

There's one recorded Phil eagle taking a mature female monkey flying/carrying it in one leg...Let's just put it in 4 kg or 8.2 lb and it was still able fly with it in one leg.

  • its seems that the biggest of eagles can manage to carry 8kg pray, but bigger kills are eaten on the ground.

  • Wallacetic, according to Wikipedia the female Philippine weighs 15 lbs. You mean to tell me this bird can lift from the ground prey twice its size? I don't believe it. And re the GE carrying the goat, notice how the eagle captured it cliffside and used gravity assist to glide down, the same scenario I postulated for the 30lb deer. Taking elevated prey on the wing? Yes. Lifting a 30lb deer off the ground? No way.

  • they didn't specify if they saw the eagle carrying it all the way to the nest. Those prey items that they documented was taken from different nest in Mindanao. Biologist usually gather samples of whats left in the nest like bone fragments, vertibrate of diff animals and later painstakingly identifies them and They identify the size and weight of each prey based on the bone fragments. That's how they document prey items...

  • I really dont know how the eagle was able to haul a 30 lbs deer up to it's nest? But surely it was found at one of the eagle's nest. Perhaps the lifting capability of it's wings is phenominal, remember IT has the broadest wings of all the eagle species. It can fly off almost vertically in dense foliage.

You cannot discount the credibility of these people who conducted the studies

Dr. Robert kennedy was a curator at the Hravard museum of Natural History.

  • i agree with wallacetic... if the golden eagle was able to carry it then the philippine eagle being larger than the golden eagle can carry and can kill bigger preys. However in all fairness with hork111, it is indeed amazing to know how a 30 lb deer can be carried by an eagle, but hey what the world always see is the harpy , bald, steller's, crowned eagles catching their caught in cam I do believe that if ornothologists would be very lucky they would perhaps see the Phil. eagle hunt big preys.

  • The more I think of this story the stranger it gets. Was the deer intact or partly consumed? If intact, it must have been just captured. If so, how could they miss a huge eagle airlifting a 30lb deer? If partly consumed, then it was larger than 30 lb. when captured. Something sounds fishy.

  • Fishy?!...Well let's just put it this way how did the 30 lbs deer got into the eagle's nest in the first place? which known to be 30 meters high on average... of course there's only one way the eagle lift it and carry it off. Eagles area known to decapitate their prey esp. large mammals such as deer and eat some of part of it until it's lighter to be carry-off to the nest to feed it's young. Dr. Robert Kennedy is the leading expert on Philippine eagles who studied the bird in dept.

  • Philippine Eagle has the largest wing surface area among all eagle species, meaning it has the broadest wing capable of more powerful lift than any other eagles.

Have you seen the Golden eagle carrying a goat? or gliding with it? If the GE was able to carry such a weight of prey... I think the Phil. Eagle can do much better in comparison to the broadnest of it's wings.

  • I read the article, but I still don't know what to think of the 30lb. deer in that eagle's nest. I just don't think one eagle can transport that weight. Maybe that extinct Haast's Eagle could, but no modern eagle is capable of that feat. The only scenario I can imagine is a cliff overhanging the trees, the deer was taken cliffside, and the eagle used gravity-assist to land the deer in the trees. Anybody have a better explanation?

  • well that's the sad part of it. ornithologists have documented it but haven't seen the eagle carrying the deer to the nest. However whether they have seen it or not it's amazing for the philippine eagle to carry such weight considering that it lives in the forest and unlike the golden eagle video carrying a small deer in an open area, the philippine eagle must have had flown that 30 lb deer higher than the trees for it to be carried to the nest. I have seen the phil eagle and it is indeed huge.

  • Among ornithologists, it is generally accepted that the Harpy and the African Crowned Eagle vie for the title of world's most powerful eagle.

  • Philippine and Harpy eagles are considered the Largest and most Powerful eagles in the world. They can both take and carry-off heavier prey as large as deer and monkeys.

African crowned eagle is truly an amazing eagle for it's size...Yes it can take larger prey w/c are available to it's homerange But even the largest female African Crowned that could weigh as much as 4 kg can only lift 3kg of prey weight.

  • i think it is because the philippine eagle is so rare that is why ornithologists have a difficult time studying the way philippine eagle hunts in actual in the wild. A 30 lb deer was recorded to be found in one of the philippine eagles' nest in the 80's, i believe for it to be carried to the nest means the philippine eagle is also very strong.

  • As far as i know the Philippine eagle is the largest bird of prey. that's what i've heard.. anyway' harpy looks ugly and scary.. unlike to the philippine eagle were it looks so majestic, beautiful and masculine.

  • The golden eagle has the largest wingspan. The largest ever is the Haast's Eagle (Harpagornis moorei) with its body 4.7 ft long, and 10 ft across the wings and weighing at least 33 lb; now extinct. Steller's sea eagle is the heaviest living eagle averaging 15-20 lbs; the Philippine eagle is the largest in physical dimensioms or size averaging a meter tall, 95-112 cm in length and baring the longest talons. The Harpy eagle is the bulkiest or lagest body mass in relation to it's size.

  • of cause stellers have the largest wingspan,2.5 meters! i am saying that the harpy and phil eagle have the broadest, in terms of largest wing area for flight in the forest canopy. an example, the giant extinct haast's eagle had a 3 meter wingspan but short for its size, cause it had a huge wing area for flight in the canopy. i am talking about forest eagles in this matter. what else would u like to tell me about this.thanks

  • Steller's sea eagles has the longest in wingspan & the Philippine eagle has the largest wing surface area among all the living egales.. capable of more powerful lift. Biologists recognize the significant difference among eagles: some are built to hunt in the tight confines of a forest, while others are designed to soar high above open plains and water. The Harpy and Philippine eagles they are rainforest eagles their wings are short in wingspan for their size but broad with rounded edge wings.

  • aqui no brasil é gavião real.

  • HARPY Eagle is Very nice too..and beautiful aswell... HOpe YOU guys Preserve this BIRDS...Try To WAtch OUR PHilippine EAGLE too..LETS HELP and Support for the Protection of this Magnificent BIRDS of PREY...

  • the only eagle i seen is a bald eagle.. but arnt eagles just magnificant creatures.

  • their huge.

  • if your saying that stellers can reach 20lbs, then they are almost as heavy as the andean condor which weighs 25lbs. are u sure about stellers weighing that much because the harpy and the stellers both are the heaviest eagles.

  • Nope! Andean condors are heavier 24-33 lbs ave. comparable to the now extinct Haast's eagle of New Zealand and are believed to have weighed 10to 15 kg (22 to 33 lb) Andean Condors are the HEAVIEST flying *(Birds of prey)Condors and Vultures are still considered birds of prey.

  • Nope...WRONG, WAY WRONG, the philippine eagle is not as heavy as the harpy. harpy AND stellers BOTH weigh 9 kg. the philippine eagle, (i will say it for the last time) is the TALLEST, not the largest among the biggest eagles. and phil. eagles weigh as much as 8 kg. one female harpy record weighed 12 kilos. the harpy is the largest eagle. its body is preety wide, and its talons are bigger the a grizzly bear. no other eagle have claws as big as that! the harpy has a larger wing area of any eagle.

  • Yup! Only the Philippine Eagle surpass its size... Male Philippine eagles are even longer than feamale Harpies averaging 1.021 meter compare to Harpy's 0.90075 meters long with the LARGEST wing surface area capable of more powerful lift than any other eagles. Philippine eagles also has the longest legs (tarsi) and claws plus a large powerful beak almost 3 times the size of Harpy's beak and a larger wider bill gape 73.66 mm vs. 64.75 mm aver.

SOURCE: Haribon/The Largest eagle in the world

  • Steller's sea eagle ave. weight 15-20 lbs

Harpy Eagle ave. weight 13-18 lbs

    Philippine Eagle ave.weight 14-17.4 lbs

In Zoology the Heaviest means the largest.

But it still depends on how you define the meaning of largest?...Largest in Size od dimension or Largest weight?

Philippine Eagle largest eagle in size

    Steller's Eagle Heaviest eagle

Harpy eagle Bulkiest eagle -meaning largest in body mass or stocky built in relation to it's size.

  • wrong on that....the Stellar's has the largest wingspan of all eagles. Look it up in a scientific description of the birds. I'll find a link and post it when I have time.

  • By far my favorite bird of prey

    (so far)

    second favorite crowned eagle =]

  • My favorite by far... Philippine eagle - It hunts more ferocious prey like large snakes, monitor lizards and can carry heavier prey like deer, macaques, small pigs and dogs.

  • i can agree that the Philippine eagle is a larger prey hunter then the harpy and crowned

  • anyone want to chat

someone smart please help me 9i

  • im on cam and bored

    comment me back BC

  • Hey...does anyone have the pic at 0:52?^^

    badass bird:D

  • very cool animals

  • 0:16-0:19 its a martial eagle not a harpy eagle.

  • You are correct!

  • I love harpies!!!! they're so cool

  • i like eagles they got balls

  • Oops sorry to be redundant, someone already beat me to the correction.

  • dang, that thing is huge.

  • Too Short + Harpy Eagles = Classic.

    LOL.

    Classic!!

  • If anyone on here likes harpy eagles youd probly like african crowned eagles as well, and most people havent heard of them cuz they rnt new world birds, but they look like harpys and are bigger!

  • the harpy eagle is the worlds largest raptor. trust me, i work at a zoo.

  • first off jus cuz u work at a zoo does not mean anything. second ur wrong, the largest bird of prey on earth is the Haring Ibon better known as the phillipine eagle, its larger than the harpy in every measurment and body part, bill gape, bill culmen, bill to tail feather tip, foot length, talon size, wing chord, wieght, every measurment you can take, do ur research before you pop off like you know shit cuz u work at a zoo, any shmuck can get a zoo job, u only need a b.s. degree or less.

  • certainly not in weight! both male and female harpy are heavier than philippine eagles. and you're still wrong : the largest bird of prey on earth is by far the steller's sea eagle. "do ur research before you pop off like u know shit"..

  • certainly not in weight! both male and female harpy are heavier than philippine eagles. and you're still wrong : the largest bird of prey on earth is by far the steller's sea eagle. "do ur research..."

  • Nope...WRONG dude! Male Philippine eagle are heavier and larger than male harpy eagle in fact they are even longer than female harpy eagles; Harpy eagles on average dont even reached 100 cm. Harpy's weighs 18 lb on AVERAGE while Philippine eagle's averaging 17.4 lb it's not that much and IT has a far larger skull and bill than Harpy eagles. Longest recorded Philippine eagle from tip of the bill to the longest tail feathers 112 cm.

Source The Largest eagle in the world.

  • Steller's sea eagle is by far the HEAVIEST eagle it could reached up to 28 lb with full belly however it lag behind in other measurements with the Philippine and Harpy eagles. The Philippine eagle is the tallest, longest and with the largest wing surface area among all the living eagles. the most beautiful too with a blue-gray eyes and bill.

  • Actually this video shows an African Crowned Eagle at 0:15, not surprised it was mistaken for a Harpy.

  • yeah youd think the guy that put this together would have noticed the gazzels native to africa all in the picture, guess he missed it

  • South American bird attacking African gazelle? Something isn't right...

  • that picture you saw was actualy an african crowned eagle not a harpy eagle, so yeah ur right it wasnt a harpy, but african crowned and harpys kinda look alike and have both have those head feathers

  • stupid music, makes no sense at all why u put such senseless good-for-nothing hiphop tune, it doesnt have anythng to do with these majestic creatures.

  • That's a good song. What, are you old? Or a nerd?

  • I like big or medium size birds like hawks my favorite are goshawks but they are very aggressive

  • Sick

  • i have one too and legals ,for sell

  • they look like a evil pigoen and there my favorite bird of pray i have a green cheaked conur

  • Harpy eagles are fucking sick. Def. my favourite bird.

  • harpy eagles my favorite bird too :)

  • wow troll....

  • harpy eagles my favorite bird too :)

  • thats one mean looking bird

  • falcons are way better

  • man. that bird IS pretty gangsta! ..haha.. good video.

  • Well aren't you just a huge retard? It killed a sloth...what is it supposed to do for nourishment? Go to a BK drive thru?

  • yes but think about this way. The poor harpy eagle wanted to eat because she was starving and had chicks to feed and is like when you are starving and kill a chicken or a cow (is a sample what we're talking about) you feast yourself with that. u got it? know what I mean?

  • a Haribon in Leyte snatch up a little child and dropped it.

    true story.

  • nice video ,the music haha good to so all together the mother fucking sloth got mother fucked of that eagle and eaten in the mother fucking forest

  • yeaH! they look so cool and soft!! fluffy cuddly dino kill snuggly monster birdy<3 !

  • Talk about being somewhere at the right time to catch that on footage! Didn't realize how large those type of Eagles are.

  • lol sloths would be so easy to catch. thats awsome

  • ...youve got gangsta music playing with..NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC!!! hahaha...not the best combination

  • Damn, i think they can grow as large as 4 feet tall! The damn thing ate a sloth?/ape!!

  • ur not the only one whos fav bird of prey is a harpy...they RULE!!!!!!!!

  • Eagle smoked that crackhead sloth!

  • hahahaha lol

so you wannbe a gangsta that eagle is BORN GANGSTAH he scooped that dumbass monkey of the branch that was PIMP as fuck. i love that raptor

  • philippine eagles are bigger

  • try searching the latest documentary about the philippine eagle at the national geographic magazine. you can surf it on the net to see the video and photos.

  • Couldn't have picked a more idiotic song. If you want to call it a song, that is...

  • Humans can't defend themselves from a harpy...

    not without weaponary anyway.

  • DUDE! You've got a picture of a MARTIAL eagle attacking a THOMPSONS' Gazelle in there! Thought you "loved" harpys? Martials are the equivilent in Africa, actually, not as heavy as the Harpy.... better re-edit man! hehehe

  • They aren't "gangsta" because they actually raise their kids.

  • too $hort and the harpy eagle.

  • I find those birds really really scary.

  • the song sucks

  • goddamn that shit is HUGE

  • the chicks are adorable.

    go birdies!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ive never heard of a harpy eagle before but they sure are monstrous

  • the phillipine eagle (raptor) is much more stunning but i am amazed at how easily it snatched that sloth from the tree...poor sloth.. but love the bird!

  • Because sloth are probably the slowest arboreal mammals. Monkeys are more tough to

catch as pery especially the larger males.

  • hmm interesting :]

  • :40 STFU that wuz crazy! that sloth was haulin ass "like oh sh1t" haha damn...

  • why did you have a clip of a MARTIAL EAGLE attacking a gazelle in there?

  • I have seen Harpy eagles lift 50lb monkeys and fight them in the air before landing. The most intense battle ever, I have a Wolley monkey bite and cannot imagine a full out hand to hand with one strong friggin mini-humans.

  • There is no such thing as 50 lbs monkey in S. America?

  • Actually, crontrary to popular belief, the Monkey-Eating Eagle (or Phillipine Eagle) is actually bigger, making the Harpie Eagle the second largest.

  • Its just larger, though. Keep in mind the Harpy Eagle is still the most powerful and deadly.

  • the king of the eagles!!!!!

  • Haribon-"King of birds"! The best bird in the world, First of the 50 best birds in the world. The largest, tallest and among the most powerful raptors in the world.

  • Aren't they extinct? : p

  • No. They are not yet extinct. Here in Brasil we have several conservation projects that are being successful on restoring harpia populations on nature. Yet, it is a very difficult work because of the destruction of their habitat. But still we hope this animal do not disapear of nature.

  • Harpy eagles are awesome

  • Birds Of Prey are cool and the Harpys the coolest.

  • sick, how u gonna mix it with devin the dude though LOL

  • It is Too $hort rapping not Devin. Listen to the song he actually sez his name.

  • tru tru, my roomate told me thats too short when i was playing the vid. I didnt pay attention to the song that much u gotta admit though devin and too short sound similar no?

  • Talons as big as the claws of the largest brown bear. Eight daggers comin at you fast. In 1/10th of a second you're suddenly impaled by every one of them.

  • WTF....daaaaamn

  • that sloth got owned

  • That sloth got tooken out.

  • all I have to say is..... ALL YOUR SLOTH ARE BELONG TO US

  • Sloth sucks

  • THE SLOTH BELONGS TO THE EAGLE.

  • wats ur 2nd fav

  • lol, i demand a top ten list!

  • Dude that sloth got owned lol

  • what is the documentrary film name ? i wanna full video. please answer me .

  • they are awsome and they know it too.

  • The Harpy eagle is an awesome animal. The only problem with this vid is the martial(sp?) eagle at 17 seconds. Harpies live in south america, not africa where martial and thompson gazelles live.

  • right, he looks freaking badass :) and he is, look at his claws and legs, so powerfull!

  • Is my favourite!!!!

  • the harpy is no match to the haribon(philippine eagle). the harpy may be heavier but the haribon is larger. It deserves to be called the "Haribon" meaning "King of Birds".

  • the harpy is no match to the Haribon(Philippine eagle). The harpy may be heavier but the 'haribon' is larger. It really deserves to be called "Haribon" meaning "King of Birds".

  • The harpy eagle... the only bird that I respect 'cause it just looks so freakin bad@ss. Phillippine eagle might be just as capable a predator, but it just doesn't look as nearly as cool. Just my two cents.

  • The Great Philippine Eagle is one of the best looking eagles, remarkably the largest wing area among all eagle species capable of more lift than any other eagles. The top predator in the ecosystem it inhabits, Air's noblest of fliers, the largest eagle species still living.

  • For me... Both are equally beautiful and ferocious coz' they share almost the same habits, in hunting, feeding and even breeding ecology they are both magnificent large forest eagles and the most powerful

    eagles in the world.

  • I dunno. I guess it's all preference. I just dig the harpy eagle's physique/profile. Check out those LEGS for crying out loud! It looks like the Mr. Olympia of all birds or something!

  • yeah maybe... Harpy has a thicker powerful legs but the Haribon has a longer powerful tarsus and claws that could almost encircles a human neck, a grip 3 times the strenght of the strongest man on earth.

  • Fucking eagle! still no match to PHILIPPINE EAGLE in terms of size power and beauty...PHILPPINE EAGLE is still the BEST...and still the "KING OF THE BIRDS"

  • That sloth never stood a chance. I love birds of prey, I even work with them. the Harpy eagle cannot really be called beautiful, but they can be definately called magnificent. Beautiful is not... The essence of the creature; cold perfect effencicy, deadly skill, handsome features...Not beautiful, beautiful is... much alike but not so... perfect.

  • When God was creating Eagles he took a break and Let the Devil have a go! One mean machine Eagle.

  • Oops, I reacted too quickly. Although it started with a darn slide show, the video followed. Sorry bout that.

  • I'm sick of these still shots. Is this youtube or the freaking slide-o-rama?

  • I was seen a golden eagle kill a cow in hills of scotland!

  • bomb ass music n bomb ass eagle

  • according to prey size... royal eagles kills full grown wolves and reindeers calves... documented footage exists.

  • i wonder if they could lift people?
