@sorted Me and my family have a 'fend for yourself' evening on mondays where we use up the extra food before we do the weekly shop. Can you show me an easy, quick recipe to use up bread, cheese, milk, eggs, tins of beans etc. ? Please?
@silverdragon1314 it originally contained sugar and it was served as a special dessert on sundays, but someone came up with the wonderful idea of cutting out the sugar. Call me walking wikipedia
@kitkatzinix@silverdragon1314 Indeed! Note that the opposite in a way is true of mince pies, a British Christmas dessert. They were originally made with mince-meat, but now the mince-'meat' is raisins, etc.
your presentation was AMAZING.. i would have never thought of making a massive yorkshire pudding and putting the beef and vegetables in it.. respect to SORTED <3
my family after the par boiling and shaking of the potatos covers them in a layer of semolina which adds a real nice crisp to it as well. while not detracting from the flavour in any way, its worth trying at some point.
I cooked this yesterday for me and a couple of mates at uni, we're now doing a weekly dinner date - each week one of us will cook something, im not sending them to this channel else i'll have nothing to impress them with!
@xXcheeseloversXx If you're feeling lucky, go to our website and search "cheese", it'll come up with loads of recipes. Otherwise, how about just looking for our Mac and Cheese or Quesadillas recipes?
what causes the Yorkshire pudding to come out as a bowl D: how come the edges rise but not the center? Does the oil have anything to do with it? :o thanks!
Did Ben call Barry Baz at 5:21 and 6:06? I swear he did. the one with the glasses... looks like a super geeky ryan gosling. lol. love their awkwardness.
That looks sooo good!(: And those guys have the geekiest t-shirts ever, i find it especially funny how they tuck them in :P and plus they are also really awkward
I am so curious about the reason behind the difference between US and British recipes for "gravy". Here in the US, we use the renderings from the meat itself to make the gravy, so you have all the nice bits of fat and spices and meat in the gravy as well as on the meat.
Then again, we also have have "red-eye gravy" for ham and "sawmill sausage gravy" for over biscuits, which would be fun to watch you all try. A sort of Sorted Exchange.
I was going to cook this tonight but it turns out my sister doesn't like roast dinners. Looks like I'll have to wait until she's having dinner at someone else's house and my brother is at home to appreciate it.
for the gravy, what do you think is a good non-alcoholic wine replacement? i can't consume anything with alcohol in it but i'd love to try this recipe out. thanks! :D
@KiraDoofenshmirtz when you boil it the alcohol boils off, so if its the alchohol that you can't have, you should be fine. Just boil for like 5-10 mins then it'll be non alcoholic
Made this on Sunday. My yorkshire pudding was a fail. Not in taste or it rising but even with the oil in the pan it stuck. I mean superglue stuck. *sigh* So...looks like I need a new baking dish for yorkshire pudding. Other than that...dinner was fabulous.
i just made the yorkshire pudding right now and i filled it with honey beef stew from yesterday, its so good, thanks for sharing the recipe, i ate the yorkshire puddings in scotland this summer and i loved them but i forgot about them, and you brought them up to my mind again!
@sortedfood its a beef stew flavoured with chestnut honey which is nice and bittersweet and soysauce and it takes 30 minutes to make (in a pressure cooker) :)

i like my meat well done but usually when cooked all the way through the meat tends to get tough and hard to chew, how long and at what temperature do you recommend i cook the meat and do you have any tips to avoid tough, chewy meat? :)
When par boiling the pots use plenty of salt. 10g per 1 litre of water and boil for 15 mins. The salt creates micro cavitys in the potato which the oil will seep into and create a delecious crunch. Also the pot will be more evenly seasoned and have less of a starchy flavour :)
@UCShaggy There's actually a trick you can use that requires only your hand! Make the "OK" gesture with your hand and then poke at the fleshy part right below your thumb, that's what rare feels like and do the rest with your other fingers, thumb to index being rare while thumb to pinky is well done.
@msmatched brushing it with melted butter would be better, but we just save time and effort by slapping it on. Once it's melted they roll about in it anyway. :D
Hey, I've been meaning to ask you something for a while. I live in a small studio apartment with a tiny kitchen, basically consisting of two hot tops, a counter.. And that's it. I wish I could afford a bigger kitchen, but being a college kid doesn't give me that option. Do you have any recipes for wholesome meals on two hot tops? Or just tips on how to work in a tiny kitchen? I love your show, and any help would be much appreciated.
