@Mraustinpen well at least he is giving people a chance at seeing him. If he wasnt doing that then I would never get the chance to see one of my heroes live
Gilmour, Waters, and Mason lost money on the tour. Wright was placed on wages, since he "left" the band, so he was the only "member" to make a profit.
Rick was fired from the band while The Wall was being recorded. However, for the tours, he was brought back at a salaried musician. The tour nearly bankrupted the other members, and Rick was the only one to gain any sort of return on the success of the album
Why doesn't EMI/Capitol release a DVD of some of these old The Wall live performances? There are clips of this live show on The Wall Movie DVD in the extras section of the disc. They have the tapes of the shows!
well, officially the Wall didn't go on tour - they played 3 cities (as he said he probably would).. 3 cities is not a tour, it's a 'series' of gig's - ask any recording artist. Unless your including the Wall live he's doing now in 2011 - but i don't think Roger is talking about that in this interview.
And the best part of all is it seems that all is forgiven between Dave and Roger. In my opinion even if they never work together again (tho I hope they do) the fact that rift has been repaired is what's most important. I think losing Syd and then Rick really made them think things through.
@SecretTimeWarp Really?? From what I've seen the actual length of The Wall from end to end doesn't look nearly as wide as the original shows, but I don't have the actual stats. You 've got to remember, over the years the Floyd brand has made so much money; they're just that much richer. In 1980 they were actually struggling a bit for money (which is why the show wasn't filmed) They'd been screwed over by an accountant among other things...
@DanLetts97 It'd have to be as wide, if not wider - the edges of the Wall actually extend up into the balcony seats, completely cutting off about 1/3 of the venue.
@Jagethemage Obviously the musicians themselves don't put their own personal money into it, their record company gives them a budget and pays for it. So, it's what the record company is willing to put up. The reason the original shows were filimed is because they couldn't afford a film crew because they had no money left. Obviously, when I say they were tight for cash I mean the band as a business, not each individual member themselves.

@Deltarogers Rick's profits got him fired by the band after that. They were pissed.

In this case, thank god for technology! If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have been able to him last December in the little city of Anaheim, CA.

@SecretTimeWarp Don't quote me on this, but I don't think the present tour for The Wall is quite as big as the original shows in 1980.
DanLetts97 8 months ago
@DanLetts97 Are you kidding? The present Wall tour is MUCH, MUCH more elaborate than the original, in many aspects.
