both ec and gregg allman's versions are great. each has its own style. for me, gregg allman's got the groove i'm digging. listened to it 4 or 5 times on my drive home and 1 final time in the driveway before i went inside. dogs thought i'd gone off the deep end...haha
@arebow - oh yeah, just discovered g allman's version here on youtube and played it over and over - what alot of nuance. i'm getting it so i can sit in the driveway, too....
Floating bridges would have been even more approriate if in stead of Surrey, England, Eric had been a pre-grunge Seattle native, or an Army rocker, since "floating bridges" exist in those territories [search Pontoon bridges.]
@SteveCarras This song was written by Sleepy John Estes, In Bayou country they used to make floating bridges out of old barrels strung with cable. They were dangerous because they would rust and leak, this would put more weight on the cables, then the peoples weight would eventually break the cables loose, and down went everything. These make shift bridges were often used in out of the way places like honky tonk bars.
Gregg's new album "Low Country" whoops Clapton like a shoolboy on this tune.

They still have one across the Rio Grande in the Rio Grande Valley. You can go back and forth across from Mexico to Texas.
