Our Special Projects officer used the title "All gave some, some gave all" for the Veterans wall to honor our teachers, facility, and staff for Veterans Day.
I was about 13 in 1960 when I met my best friend's uncle on a road trip to Portland, OR. He was on oxygen from being gassed in WWI. He was the only veteran I remember from that conflict. All of the adults I knew were WWII veterans and they were my heroes, including my mother and father. My brother and I became Vietnam veterans in the 60's. Hopefully, my grandchildren will not become veterans, not from lack of patriotism, but from lack of demand of having an army. Still, I salute my heroes.

Wow... I don't really have words for this one but I'll make a stab at it. My grandfather served in WWII in the european theater. As soon as I was old enough to understand what that meant I began to study military history-- now I see I still don't really understand what that means, but I do understand this: FREEDOM WILL NEVER BE FREE!!! My grandfather's father died fighting in WWI and when a soldier came and told him and my great grandmother that he said words that my grandfather never forgot.
"He died making sure I got away...but it should have been me...I should have died that day and then he should be telling my family and able to come back home and pick you up in his arms."

I'm a rather well-educated American. I excelled in many of my classes. I have to sit in class rooms with people that don't even know if Chicago is a state or city, or they don't even know where Sweden is(probably because Sweden isn't that important anyways). We didn't get our asses kicked, we kicked theirs, it's history. When America entered the war, almost all of Europe was under German control, but we fought them and kicked their ass all the way back to Germany.
