In fact, we do have a democracy here, technically called an indirect democracy, which is when the people vote for representatives to represent them. I'll also go as far to say that this country is failing almost entirely because of the people we put in power, who, as DEMCAD explained, are only restricting civil liberties and individual freedom every day. We aren't a democracy.

The founding fathers intended this country to be a type of democracy at it's core because of the fact they were oppressed by Great Britain and their king, George III. We are a democratic country at our core. A "representative" democracy. Sadly, I think you speak the truth. Your thoughts are very relevant and accurate. As to whether things can be changed or not, it still remains to be seen. There is an important difference this election cycle. It is the "new blood" being injected into leadership through the Repoublican Party. I've seen it these past several months with my own eyes when I began attended local Republican Party meetings here. The meeting was packed with other newcomers (and candidates!) - who I all recognized from local Tea Party events.
When the republicans make gains in November it will not change the two headed snake. Tea party will be largely co-opted and neutralized. I hope I'm very wrong about that.

In fact, we do have a democracy here, technically called an indirect democracy, which is when the people vote for representatives to represent them. I'll also go as far to say that this country is failing almost entirely because of the people we put in power, who, as DEMCAD explained, are only restricting civil liberties and individual freedom every day. The founding fathers intended this country to be a type of democracy at it's core because of the fact they were oppressed by Great Britain and their king, George III. We are a democratic country at our core. A "representative" democracy. I've seen it these past several months with my own eyes when I began attended local Republican Party meetings here. The other problem I foresee is that too many people have there own agenda, they talk a good game but they really don't believe in our Constitution, hell most have never even read it. I agree with you Demcad. Everything you said is correct. When people vote they need to stop voting for the popular parties or for their favorite team. Start thinking about our society and how a certain person, their character, fits with our nation and constitution. I think that political powers brainwash before the elections and try and force us to pick either Dem or Rep. There are other parties which needs to be looked at hard. Remove the corrupt if possible.

Even if they have "repented" of their spending sins, they need to tell the public a sobering fact or they will risk not only permanent rejection, but even revolution. That fact?
