Sure, Apple has pushed technology and achieved some great things, but it has certainly not pushed society in any direction. Maybe the direction that makes you think you're something special for using a Mac however lol.
The ipod has pushed space and applications, but their internal amplifiers always lack. Mostly due to the fact that amplifier quality will suffer due to size and PCB layout, also due to the fact that technology isn't THAT advanced yet.

eric schmidt is a member of the Builderburg group. The group pushing for world government and world currency. tehy also want a world bank. One bank and one money for all the world.
Apple did some great innovating. Besides them, I think a great weight lies on ISP's and wireless companies for essentially switching from dial-up of the 90's to internet that can download entire movies in minutes. Phones can send videos, play TV, etc. Hate me or not, but Google created the first 3D rendering of the entire planet, and added ways to track locations etc. off phones and computers. Intel lead the way to processors that are now dozens of times faster/more powerful then in the 90's.
This whole decade was amazing, god only knows what the future holds, but this decade made real what only sci-fi movies could envision in any moments of the past. I'd call this decade the decade of the technological revolution.
These companies all worked together to do what they did. Without Intel, computers wouldn't have the power to handle the demands of new operating systems, without Google, smart phones wouldn't be that smart. Without AT&T, Verizon, Time Warner, etc. we'd still be on voice-only cellphones that drop calls.
About the Google and 3d earth. If you are referring to Google Earth, that wasnt Google's originally. A company called Keyhole made Earthviewer3D. It wasnt free either. But when Google acquired that company around 2004, they started adding all the new/neat features we have now.
Just wanted to let you know I posted a response to this video, though I wasn't sure how to make it official. Last time I tried Quick Capture it didn't work. So, if you wanna check it out, you can head to my channel - it's latest one up.
GE. they do more than apple, but nothing we really notice. apple though consumer technology wise changed the whole game. end of story. whether or not you like them doesn't mean anything. you have to realize they changed the story. in the way we see our media.
nintendo for making gaming popular to the casual gamer. microsoft for making online gaming popular to the masses. sony for showing that a console can be a full media centre. every pc company and google for putting computers and the net into nearly every home.
Napster stole the music industry cutting into profits, allowed for horribly downgraded files, corrupt files from malicious users, and gave everyone the impression that this sort of behavior is ok. What Apple did was a good thing - copyrights are not infringed on, files are good, none are corrupt, and its perfectly legal.
Apple made it legal. Apple made it EASY to access mostly any song and have that download be great (not degraded like napster and kazaa and limewire). Apple made it SAFE from infected files from unknown untrustworthy users.
And I can see where you are going with this - that Apple did it only because they would make money doing so.... Well isn't a companies main goal - to make money? If they weren't in this for profit then I'm sure the stockholders would be kinda upset.
Its 99 when you just buy a single song. but albums are normally 9.99. Some are a lil more if they contain a bunch of extra songs or videos (10.99, 11.99, 12.99) depending on the artist etc.
And if you buy a song, and then later decide you want the whole ablum - iTunes will recognize that - there is a "complete my album" option that charges you only what you'd owe minus the 99 cents you already owe.
Were you going to insinuate Apple was ripping people off?
@CJCA915 Apple make next to nothing from iTunes. They make their money on the devices that work with it, i.e. the iPod and iPhone and Apple TV. The actual store itself creates very little revenue for them. Most of that goes to the record lables and the rest towards maintaining the service. The margins are very low. Also, you can't compare a custom rig to a Mac, just like you can't compare it to a Del lor HP. Compare OEM to OEM. Compare means likeness. You're thinking contrasts.
Its 99 cents. that extra cent adds up over time when you buy a lot of albums or songs. Nice thing about iTunes is you don't have to go out and buy the entire CD if you don't want to.
As for building a computer, maybe. Try building one like the i5 iMac. I tried. And could - but the price was about the same if not more. You guys don't know how to compare though - you take an iMac and put it up against a home-made tower. Clearly not the same form factor.
Essentially you pay LESS for an album thru iTunes 95% of the time and can make endless copies of it. You also get cover art too so that can be printed if you want.
@CJCA915 Albums cost less than buying the tracks seperately. It's part of the incentive to buying albums rather than single tracks. The record companies hate single sales, they want album sales. In the UK most albums cost about £7.99 or so, each track costs about 79-99p on it's own. Buying the album is cheaper than getting each seperately and you tend to get some extra's like a PDF of artwork and stuff too. Also I'm not sure how tax works with the iTunes Store. The gift cards are exempt.
Sorry but no, Apple didnt make it legal. Sony was the first legal means to buy/download music. Apple was only the first to make it popular.
They were the first to make PCs popular, the first to make mp3 players popular, the first to make music download/purchases popular, but they were not the first to make these things happen. All they did was jump on the bandwagon and with market hype made it popular.
Sony's attempt was meager at best. $3.50 a song is outrageous, btw!
Like with MANY other areas Apple was able to succeed where others have failed (and failed miserably sometimes). iPod, iPhone, OS, iTunes, the PC, etc. And it has nothing to do with "jumping on the bandwagon" but noticing an area where the unique Apple vision to doing things made them successful. And the sheer number of people using iPods (Nano, Classic, Touch) is an indication that it works.
People that buy from the iTunes Music store are ignorant customers. no respectable audiophile would buy lossy quality, they buy the Cd and rip it in Flac or uncompressed Wav. You also are doing a big disservice to the artist when buying it from iTunes, because they make less money than from a cd or directly from their website.
People that buy from the iTunes store are the average consumer. iTunes took over Walmart in sales a while back. And what disservice? Buying a CD from Walmart and other places the music goes thru a much BIGGER stream of overheard - everyone tacking on their profit. In iTunes its more direct - less overheard - more profit for the record label in theory.
And who cares about audiophiles? They don't represent the bulk of consumers who are pleased with the product.
I have 3 Macs all with decent sound cards... music sounds good. I've used music edited on my Macs from iTunes downloads in a performance setting on VERY BIG SPEAKERS - sounds great. You act as if the music sounds like a scratchy old record player or a muffled 8-track.
loseless is only really used as a master for photos, movies, music, etc. But for the general public the lossy is perfectly fine.
Apparently you didn't hear me - I said in a performance setting with VERY BIG SPEAKERS!!! And it sounds great. Were you not paying attention?
Burr Brown PCM3052 in the G5
Intel High Def Audio in the Core 2 Duo
Intel High Def Audio in the Core i5
I mainly listen to my music on the G5 - since that has my iTunes library. The sound is great in BIG convention centers, computes, mp3 players, car stereo...
So what's your beef? Its what everyone is listening to.
I wouldn't be too sure about that myself. I have listened to music through my Genelec 2029A Studio monitors, and through my Mackie SRM350 speakers. I have compared the sound of a Korg D1600, a CD and iTunes - iTunes sounds fine.
I'm just amused that you guys still are out there complaining about iTunes. Regardless of whether you want to admit it or not - iTunes quality is fine and it is what the common AVERAGE user will listen and they will never know the difference - based on the way that lossy compression works - look it up. Kinda like DVD upconversion.
Actually no. Average users don't hear the differences - PLEASE do a google or wiki search for how lossy compression works.
I care about quality - that is why I avoid Microsoft. And i won't disagree with ya - the Apple logo looks great. And thankfully with Apple you get BOTH a pretty logo AND quality.
Thankfully I owned a mac so I know thats full of shit. if I spend 2 grand on a Pc I could get a lot more quality than a mac. better audio, better video, better performance and warranty, etc
Hey - just hopped back on line and just saw what IMF has just said. I have never used iWeb, but I can certainly vouch that iDVD, iMovie09, iPhoto and Garageband are NOT pieces of shit.
@IgnorantMF - Mind telling us what Mac you have owned and what you have tried doing on it?
Features- Ftp client, network, run virtual machines, boot Vdi images, homegroup, simulate a user environment with msconfig, ASLR, powercfg, homegroup, libraries, etc
compatibility- Windows is compatible with many peripherals, video cards, controllers, etc. Mac side is very limited in hardware selection and software selection.
Ui- opinion
performance- got any proof?
IDvd is crap, takes hours just to burn a damn dvd on the highest quality settings. Garageband is very basic.
iDVD may take a bit of time, but that is a result of the high rendering process. Also depends on the dvd content. And once you burn one copy - dude - rip a disk image and use disk utilities to burn extras. Are you new at this? The disk image will burn it in like 5-10 minutes.
UI - it just is better!
Performance - same here!
And no you said Garageband was crap.... its not crap at all.
And OSX is compatible with more peripherals. Just plug it in and it works.
ur jokes buddy GarageBand is actually amazing. It's basic only compared to sound track pro or pro shit like it. what do u have... audicity? loooloololololololol
"IDvd is crap, takes hours just to burn a damn dvd on the highest quality settings"
and win movie maker sucks it took 22 years to make me a floppy. Prove it numb nuts
Ftp client, lol got it but better. i can mount them as a drive on my desktop natively.
network are you trying to say my computer can't network? lol ever heard of bonjour?
-Audacity is fine, but I am comparing to to cakewalk or magix music maker to garageband. Sony also has some consumer level software that can edit like garage band.
-iDvd takes a long time, don't complain to me, oh and Windows crappy dvd maker is faster although it has less features.
-Please go look up what a ftp client is, I can mount hard drives, cds over a network also.
-No I did not try to say that, just pointing out Windows has better networking.
27" 2560x1440 LED backlit display integrated webcam and mic 2.66 core i5 1TB HDD 4gigs DDR3 ram Full OS X (not a basic home version) iLife DVD drive card reader multi-touch mouse keyboard I've tried to build a tower with these same specs, and the thing that trips up the user is the display most of the time. Even without it the PC is still within a hundred or two. And OEMs - well same story there. This with the understanding that all in ones are generally more expensive anyhow.
You can't compare a tower to an imac because they do not sell 27" screens with that resolution and they are not the same form factor. I can get a motherboard with usb 3.0 support and sata 6gb, 10 usb ports. how would I compare that to an imac? You can't because the imac is much slower and lacks expandability.
You sure could, but you'd be lacking the screen. You are missing the point. If Apple doesn't offer a system with those specs then you can't legitimately compare it. Just like there are certain low end PCs that I won't compare any Macs to because there are none to compare it to. Same with netbooks - Apple doesn't make one... sooo I don't compare it.
Try to be sensible in your comparisons at least once.
I am not the one comparing a tower to an AIO, I being sensible by saying you should not compare a 30" to 27" because the 20" has about 45% more real estate. they can not be compared end of story unless you let me go with 2048x1152 with a 27"
Explain to me how a 20" has more real estate than a 27"?
And the only reason I compare it with a tower is because YOU fanboys always do that. So I am giving you a taste of your own medicine. And it burns you up that the iMac i5 and i7 can do battle pretty well with these big box trash cans.
a 30" with a resolution of 2560x1600 has a lot more space than a 27" with 2560x1440. the imacs do not battle well with mid-towers, the graphics card in the imac is a laptop form factor, hell a cheap graphics card beats the imacs 4850.
Glad you clarified, because you original quote said a 20" not a 30". And no the iMac didn't previously do battle with mid towers because AIO computers were generally classed different due to components and production costs, etc. But it was ALWAYS you PC lovers that though to compare your mid-towers to the iMac. NOW that the tables are turned and the iMac is an EVEN BETTER deal than it ever was and its competing well with the mid-tower - you all are crying that its not a fair comparison.
USB 3.0, and sata 3 are completely useless as of today, because speed of drives, even SSDs aren't fast enough that their bottle necked by the connection. it might actually be needed in like 3 years, but by them your motherboard/CPU/Graphics card/RAM will seem outdated, well with windows anyway
Thankfully I owned MANY PCs so I know thats full of shit. If I had spent 2 grand on a PC I know I could get more frustrated cuz I overspent on an underperformaning pile of junk that I'll have to return and get my 2 grand back so I could go out and buy a Mac again and hit myself for being stupid enough to go back to a PC.
And is your sole purpose on here JUST to be an ignorant Mac basher and to bash Apple and Mac users? Cuz your arguments are truly shallow and easily debunked.
Those are all bottom of the barrel Pc's, they do not perform like all Pc's, get something that does not suck like a thinkpad or build a pc. Your opinion does not matter because you have never owned a good Pc but just a blind mac fanboy.
Its you fanboys that always cry how we Mac users overspend - "get a pc for only $500" etc etc. So apparently you are all changing your story now? So I should NOT get one for $500?
These PCs are what many average users have bought and had to deal with other the years. The first Compaq was from back in the day when Compaq was competitive.
And my opinion certainly does matter. The only reason you say it doesn't is because I don't blindly follow what you say I should do.
When did I say buy a 500$ Pc? Don't buy crappy Pc's and complain that all Pc's suck because that is just ignorant, but I can expect it from any mac fanboy because in general they know shit about computers.
I didn't say you specifically but its a cry from YOUR camp! Its one of the biggest "anything you can do I can do better" rants that all you Mac bashers use. "I can get a better pc for $500". blah blah blah.
Don't discount the crappy PCs - they are in fact PCS! If it brings down the overall impression of quality of ALL PCs - don't blame Apple or Me or any other Mac user - blame Microsoft and the OEMS for allowing it to happen.
You are a fucking idiot, There is no camp, People against Mac Don't flock together like sheep like apple fanboys, they form their own opinions despite the apple propaganda.
Again you are a fucking idiot, Microsoft did not make your PC, neither is it their fault you bought shitty Pc's.
hahah... Why is it that its the PC fanboys or Mac bashers that ALWAYS start the unnecessary cursing and foul language?
And YES THEY DO - you people flock together. Any time there is a common idea or like or dislike - that will cause groups to form. This is basic psychology.
And Microsoft licenses its OS - it too can put restrictions on which machine it wants its OS on. But they are too greedy and want EVERYTHING! And are willing to put their OS on crap. Apple won't do that.
And wanna talk about Sheep - normally anyone that switches to a Mac does so because they were enough of a free thinker to make a clear decision to do so. Unlike the millions that simply buy a PC because "its what ive always done" or "microsoft says macs suck", etc etc etc... just like those bogus lying laptop hunters ads.
And who are you to say these machines were not decent machines at one time? The First Compaq was a nice expensive machine! Too bad it was typical of PC quality.
most Mac fans "free thinkers" no. Here is a typical scenario of most mac fans " Shit my 300$ dollar dell from 2004 is so slow, and why do I have viruses I only download porn from shady sites and download from limewire!" The Mac user tries out mac, and is amazed a $2000 computer is much better than is crappy dell" Holy shit all Pc's are like this macs are better I am buying a mac". Soon or later the mac fans will believe the mac ad's and soak up apple propaganda.
Yes Mac users are free thinkers. It does indeed take some free thinking to be able to pull yourself away from the typical droning of the Microsoft propaganda machine that has us all convinced to keep buying PCs. Typical scenario is completely incorrect. My PC which was from 2004 I replace in late 2005 - only 18 months later due to massive slow downs (even after defragging and a whole system restore) and bsods. I got tired of the crap.
I own a mac, much more free than you think. I made logical choices to choose Pc's over Apple branded pcs. I use to be a mac fanboy, but then I was enlighten by knowledge of Os's and hardware and switched back to Windows and started building all my Pc's. I tried Linux in the beginning but I realized its worse than Windows and highly illogical thinking. I don't hate Linux but it has a long way to catch up to Windows 7 and Vista. I am testing freebsd 8.0 as we speak. I don't like mactards.
Mactards? Seriously why is it that when you boys feel your supremacy threatened you resort to insults? Guess what - I don't like Wintards.
Nobody on here is worth being called a name unless they don't even try to defend their points. Neither of us are like that - even though we have differing views and experiences that have shaped our decisions - that doesn't give you any right to call someone a "mactard". By your definition if someone prefers Mac you look at them as a Mactard.
And you yourself may be more of a free thinker, but the general public has been so accustomed to the idea of when buying a new computer to just buy a Walmart or Staples PC that they don't even consider other options. Why? Its an easy decision and doesn't take much thought. And many buyers are apprehensive at the thought of trying something new or different even if its better. Thankfully I was open minded enough to try it.
And just so you are aware - to follow what everyone else is doing - that is not the sign of a free thinker. To go against the grain and do or try something different that is only done by a few - THAT is being more of a free thinker.
Its about allowing those that thought outside the box the respect for doing so. This notion that you have some right to call a Mac user a "mactard" is just absurd and just shows you have a superiority complex and feel you are always right.
A free thinker is able to think outside of the "norm". Most Mac users are people that simply got sick and tired of Windows PCs - plain and simple. Most of the Mac users I know - this is their story. Its very common among Mac users. And again, sir, I never saw the Mac vs PC ads on TV till long after I got my first Mac. I don't normally watch much TV. My openness to learn something new and better is what attracted me to it.
Mac fanboys are not free thinkers. They don't base their reasons with logic and facts. Your logic is terrible " I bought crappy Windows Pc's, that means all PC's that are not mac are crappy". Free thinkers are not wannabe non-conformists Unless emo, and goth kids are free thinkers. If Mac fans never seen Mac Ad's Why do they regurgitate the same bullshit that comes from the Ad's? You have very parochial view on technology like most mac fanboys.
Mac fanboys are just the same as PC fanboys... they love their products - they love what they use. And you can disagree all you want - but to you it seems that nobody with any amount of logic would choose a Mac - am I correct with that assumption? If those are your thoughts - then you logic is flawed.
And isn't it obvious? Think freely for a moment - if a Mac user says everything thats in the ads yet has never seen them. What does that tell you? The ads are true.
Mac users are not basing their experience and words on what the ads are saying... its the reverse, son - the ads are based on the experience of Mac users over the years and what they have been saying about their Macs. Is this so hard to understand?
And most of you PC fanboys have the same superiority complex when it comes to computers. You do not represent the average user.
Microsoft is nice enough to approve drivers with WHQL which basically is Microsofts quality control for hardware. How is Microsoft greedy for letting it run on anything that is x86? Apple is more greedy for not setting Mac Osx free, which forces you to buy apples shitty offering of macs for a high price compared to most pcs with similar specs.
Microsoft is "nice enough"? C'mon stop living a dream world and do some research into the multitude of MS's shady and corrupt business practices of swallowing up companies and eliminating superior technology. Microsoft isn't "letting" it run on anything - they WANT it to run on anything so that EVERYTHING is running their crap.
And once again your playing a difficult hand to prove - the "overprice" game. Just can't let go of it can you?
Yeah and Microsoft is smart by making it run on almost everything that uses x86, much better business model and that is why Microsoft succeeded where Apple did not. This is why Windows Compatibility> Mac Osx Compatibility
Microsoft's "greed" to make their OS work on every business machine wasn't out of charity for the business world and their act of "goodwill". They wanted to be the power that they are today. And in terms of compatibility - its Apple that has done a great deal of work to be compatible with the Windows world. Shame Windows doesn't do much of that in reverse. I thought they wanted to conquer the world with their subpar technology? Read the headlines in yahoo today?
Why would Microsoft want to be compatible with its competitor? take a business class.
Microsoft is a lot nicer than the old model IBM, Apple's model is more monopolistic than Microsoft by forcing me to buy a mac legally just to run Mac OSX which is not the best Os and neither is Windows.
Ok, so if Microsoft is buying up competing software/tech companies and then eliminating that technology and is so greedy they'll cut corners along the way just to be the dominant name in the computer industry - how is that NOT a monopoly?
That was a really stupid statement, sorry but the iPhone is proof positive that the mobile phone industry was hungry for something incredibly different and easy to use. The iPhone fulfilled that need. Has nothing to do with "sheep". And to spend just a few minutes/hours playing with an iPhone or iPod touch and you're hooked. Its amazing the sheer number of people that now have one or the other.
yeah and its incredible how many people took there iphone back or sold it for something else. people are bored with it now and want something new. the x10 and the hd2 are to phones that will make people turn away from the iphone. the nokia n series showed people what a phone can do. apple just added a touchscreen and introduced smartphones to the mainstream.
Funny, not sure where you are getting your data from but of all the people I know with iPhones, not one of them is unhappy with it. And I still see many of my friends switching over to it. Not sure where you are getting your data from but when every new phone that comes out is referred to as "the new iPhone killer" it gives a clear indication who the leader is and who everyone is after. The Droid was the biggest one yet and hasn't done so either.
i wondered why you mentioned the droid and then seen that you were from america. the droid wasnt the biggest 1 yet. there has been a few iphone killers. the iphone isnt as popular outside of america and everyone knows that android is the best os these days. the htc hd2 and the se x10 shit all over the iphone in looks,os. performance. just go look at the videos where they have put the iphone up against these phones.
No offense but I honestly don't care. I don't even use the iPhone. My point was that the iPhone has had staggering results not just in American but all over. The Droid may have done some things right - but a bandaide to keep the battery in? C'mon!
Agreed. It's funny cause I was listening to a recording of Ashkenazy playing some Rachmaninov Preludes - such as the G major one of Op.32 - first on a sony stereo system with enhanced playback turned on. Then I listened to the same thing through iTunes - exactly the same record

Your stupidity continues to amaze, your opinion is that Apple has been the most innovative comapny of the decade pushing technology forward.
Ironic that Apple uses technology invented by other companies and people, they dont even make their own products, let alone hardware.
So what technology has Apple ever actually spearheaded the development of?
Granted, iTunes is excellent as is the iPod/iPhone OS. Aside from that?

Apple did well this decade yes, but so did Google, this decade truly set them off as a major force on the internet.
Sony launched the PS2, which in no way can be denied the spotlight it deserves.
Microsoft (Yes I know you dont want to hear it) but the xbox truly started on-line console gaming.
This list could go on, so many records have been broken in and out of tech, but hats off to apple.

Thank You Napster. for revolutionizing music, not Apple, they just commercialized it.
Se7enTips 2 years ago
@Se7enTips
Napster stole the music industry cutting into profits, allowed for horribly downgraded files, corrupt files from malicious users, and gave everyone the impression that this sort of behavior is ok. What Apple did was a good thing - copyrights are not infringed on, files are good, none are corrupt, and its perfectly legal.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
Napster stole from the record company to create the digital media, mp3's, ... and Apple took the idea and commercialized it.
and that's the history of MP media
Se7enTips 2 years ago
Apple made it legal. Apple made it EASY to access mostly any song and have that download be great (not degraded like napster and kazaa and limewire). Apple made it SAFE from infected files from unknown untrustworthy users.
And I can see where you are going with this - that Apple did it only because they would make money doing so.... Well isn't a companies main goal - to make money? If they weren't in this for profit then I'm sure the stockholders would be kinda upset.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
Don't you have to pay at least a dollar for every song on iTunes?
CJCA915 2 years ago
The price of most songs in iTunes is 99 cents. And?
endlessdream94 2 years ago
@endlessdream94 99 cents + tax.
So, if I want to get 18 songs it may cost at least $18 and I go pick up a whole album for the same price if not cheaper.
CJCA915 2 years ago
Many times when you buy entire album you get cheeper price then "song by song buy" you know.
Tjarven 2 years ago
99 cents (no tax btw)
Its 99 when you just buy a single song. but albums are normally 9.99. Some are a lil more if they contain a bunch of extra songs or videos (10.99, 11.99, 12.99) depending on the artist etc.
And if you buy a song, and then later decide you want the whole ablum - iTunes will recognize that - there is a "complete my album" option that charges you only what you'd owe minus the 99 cents you already owe.
Were you going to insinuate Apple was ripping people off?
endlessdream94 2 years ago
99 cents, round it, it's $1, period.
If not for iTunes and stuff, their computers, when you can build a custom rig with more, and pay less.
CJCA915 2 years ago
@CJCA915 Apple make next to nothing from iTunes. They make their money on the devices that work with it, i.e. the iPod and iPhone and Apple TV. The actual store itself creates very little revenue for them. Most of that goes to the record lables and the rest towards maintaining the service. The margins are very low. Also, you can't compare a custom rig to a Mac, just like you can't compare it to a Del lor HP. Compare OEM to OEM. Compare means likeness. You're thinking contrasts.
TalesOfWar 2 years ago
Its 99 cents. that extra cent adds up over time when you buy a lot of albums or songs. Nice thing about iTunes is you don't have to go out and buy the entire CD if you don't want to.
As for building a computer, maybe. Try building one like the i5 iMac. I tried. And could - but the price was about the same if not more. You guys don't know how to compare though - you take an iMac and put it up against a home-made tower. Clearly not the same form factor.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
Essentially you pay LESS for an album thru iTunes 95% of the time and can make endless copies of it. You also get cover art too so that can be printed if you want.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
@CJCA915 Albums cost less than buying the tracks seperately. It's part of the incentive to buying albums rather than single tracks. The record companies hate single sales, they want album sales. In the UK most albums cost about £7.99 or so, each track costs about 79-99p on it's own. Buying the album is cheaper than getting each seperately and you tend to get some extra's like a PDF of artwork and stuff too. Also I'm not sure how tax works with the iTunes Store. The gift cards are exempt.
TalesOfWar 2 years ago
Sorry but no, Apple didnt make it legal. Sony was the first legal means to buy/download music. Apple was only the first to make it popular.
They were the first to make PCs popular, the first to make mp3 players popular, the first to make music download/purchases popular, but they were not the first to make these things happen. All they did was jump on the bandwagon and with market hype made it popular.
kaosum2 2 years ago
Sony's attempt was meager at best. $3.50 a song is outrageous, btw!
Like with MANY other areas Apple was able to succeed where others have failed (and failed miserably sometimes). iPod, iPhone, OS, iTunes, the PC, etc. And it has nothing to do with "jumping on the bandwagon" but noticing an area where the unique Apple vision to doing things made them successful. And the sheer number of people using iPods (Nano, Classic, Touch) is an indication that it works.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
Funny because your iTunes store music is horrible lossy quality.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Funny how you chose to point that out - since 99% of buyers can't tell the difference and are satisfied customers.
fail
endlessdream94 2 years ago
People that buy from the iTunes Music store are ignorant customers. no respectable audiophile would buy lossy quality, they buy the Cd and rip it in Flac or uncompressed Wav. You also are doing a big disservice to the artist when buying it from iTunes, because they make less money than from a cd or directly from their website.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
People that buy from the iTunes store are the average consumer. iTunes took over Walmart in sales a while back. And what disservice? Buying a CD from Walmart and other places the music goes thru a much BIGGER stream of overheard - everyone tacking on their profit. In iTunes its more direct - less overheard - more profit for the record label in theory.
And who cares about audiophiles? They don't represent the bulk of consumers who are pleased with the product.

If you have a decent sound card, iTunes music sounds terrible compared to loseless.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
I have 3 Macs all with decent sound cards... music sounds good. I've used music edited on my Macs from iTunes downloads in a performance setting on VERY BIG SPEAKERS - sounds great. You act as if the music sounds like a scratchy old record player or a muffled 8-track.
loseless is only really used as a master for photos, movies, music, etc. But for the general public the lossy is perfectly fine.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
What sound card do you have?
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Apparently you didn't hear me - I said in a performance setting with VERY BIG SPEAKERS!!! And it sounds great. Were you not paying attention?
Burr Brown PCM3052 in the G5
Intel High Def Audio in the Core 2 Duo
Intel High Def Audio in the Core i5
I mainly listen to my music on the G5 - since that has my iTunes library. The sound is great in BIG convention centers, computes, mp3 players, car stereo...
So what's your beef? Its what everyone is listening to.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
I wouldn't be too sure about that myself. I have listened to music through my Genelec 2029A Studio monitors, and through my Mackie SRM350 speakers. I have compared the sound of a Korg D1600, a CD and iTunes - iTunes sounds fine.
Westsound191 2 years ago
Totally agree - iTunes is just fine. Let the Apple-bashers keep spilling their hatred - in the end it means nothing.

IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
I just listed it... pay attention, genius!
endlessdream94 2 years ago
I'm just amused that you guys still are out there complaining about iTunes. Regardless of whether you want to admit it or not - iTunes quality is fine and it is what the common AVERAGE user will listen and they will never know the difference - based on the way that lossy compression works - look it up. Kinda like DVD upconversion.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
average user? I care about quality not just a pretty apple logo.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Actually no. Average users don't hear the differences - PLEASE do a google or wiki search for how lossy compression works.
I care about quality - that is why I avoid Microsoft. And i won't disagree with ya - the Apple logo looks great. And thankfully with Apple you get BOTH a pretty logo AND quality.
endlessdream94 2 years ago

Features- Ftp client, network, run virtual machines, boot Vdi images, homegroup, simulate a user environment with msconfig, ASLR, powercfg, homegroup, libraries, etc
compatibility- Windows is compatible with many peripherals, video cards, controllers, etc. Mac side is very limited in hardware selection and software selection.
Ui- opinion
performance- got any proof?
IDvd is crap, takes hours just to burn a damn dvd on the highest quality settings. Garageband is very basic.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
iDVD may take a bit of time, but that is a result of the high rendering process.
Just plug it in and it works.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
ur jokes buddy GarageBand is actually amazing.

-No I did not try to say that, just pointing out Windows has better networking.

imac
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
@IgnorantMacFannies why did you buy a computer that you hate?
IgnorantPCFanboys 2 years ago
Come again? The statement makes no sense. You must buy a mac before you can have an opinion about macs. I don't hate my mac. Do you hate your g5?
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
endlessdream94 2 years ago
You can't compare a tower to an imac because they do not sell 27" screens with that resolution and they are not the same form factor. I can get a motherboard with usb 3.0 support and sata 6gb, 10 usb ports. how would I compare that to an imac? You can't because the imac is much slower and lacks expandability.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
You sure could, but you'd be lacking the screen. You are missing the point. If Apple doesn't offer a system with those specs then you can't legitimately compare it. Just like there are certain low end PCs that I won't compare any Macs to because there are none to compare it to. Same with netbooks - Apple doesn't make one... sooo I don't compare it.
Try to be sensible in your comparisons at least once.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
I am not the one comparing a tower to an AIO, I being sensible by saying you should not compare a 30" to 27" because the 20" has about 45% more real estate. they can not be compared end of story unless you let me go with 2048x1152 with a 27"
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
30"
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Explain to me how a 20" has more real estate than a 27"?
And the only reason I compare it with a tower is because YOU fanboys always do that. So I am giving you a taste of your own medicine. And it burns you up that the iMac i5 and i7 can do battle pretty well with these big box trash cans.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
a 30" with a resolution of 2560x1600 has a lot more space than a 27" with 2560x1440. the imacs do not battle well with mid-towers, the graphics card in the imac is a laptop form factor, hell a cheap graphics card beats the imacs 4850.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Glad you clarified, because you original quote said a 20" not a 30". And no the iMac didn't previously do battle with mid towers because AIO computers were generally classed different due to components and production costs, etc. But it was ALWAYS you PC lovers that though to compare your mid-towers to the iMac. NOW that the tables are turned and the iMac is an EVEN BETTER deal than it ever was and its competing well with the mid-tower - you all are crying that its not a fair comparison.
hmm!
endlessdream94 2 years ago
dude that's only like 2cm more height on average pixle density
xsonicbladex 2 years ago
USB 3.0, and sata 3 are completely useless as of today, because speed of drives, even SSDs aren't fast enough that their bottle necked by the connection. it might actually be needed in like 3 years, but by them your motherboard/CPU/Graphics card/RAM will seem outdated, well with windows anyway
xsonicbladex 2 years ago
Thankfully I owned MANY PCs so I know thats full of shit. If I had spent 2 grand on a PC I know I could get more frustrated cuz I overspent on an underperformaning pile of junk that I'll have to return and get my 2 grand back so I could go out and buy a Mac again and hit myself for being stupid enough to go back to a PC.
And is your sole purpose on here JUST to be an ignorant Mac basher and to bash Apple and Mac users? Cuz your arguments are truly shallow and easily debunked.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
Tell me the name of each Pc and how much each one costed?
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
I don't recall the price of the first one but it was about 1300 or so - came with a monitor. 75mhz compaq that needed its HD replaced after 2 months.
Packard Bell processor may have been 200mhz. Can't recall price - its been years. failed on me - had to restore the OS.
WeBase (custom i think). 400mhz. 600 i think for just the tower and keyboard/mouse. Thing got sooo slow - even after many defrags
Compaq laptop 800mhz - 1200 POS!
Compaq tower 2.7ghz - 700 POS power supply failure.
endlessdream94 2 years ago 2
Those are all bottom of the barrel Pc's, they do not perform like all Pc's, get something that does not suck like a thinkpad or build a pc. Your opinion does not matter because you have never owned a good Pc but just a blind mac fanboy.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Its you fanboys that always cry how we Mac users overspend - "get a pc for only $500" etc etc. So apparently you are all changing your story now? So I should NOT get one for $500?
These PCs are what many average users have bought and had to deal with other the years. The first Compaq was from back in the day when Compaq was competitive.
And my opinion certainly does matter. The only reason you say it doesn't is because I don't blindly follow what you say I should do.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
When did I say buy a 500$ Pc? Don't buy crappy Pc's and complain that all Pc's suck because that is just ignorant, but I can expect it from any mac fanboy because in general they know shit about computers.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
I didn't say you specifically but its a cry from YOUR camp! Its one of the biggest "anything you can do I can do better" rants that all you Mac bashers use. "I can get a better pc for $500". blah blah blah.
Don't discount the crappy PCs - they are in fact PCS! If it brings down the overall impression of quality of ALL PCs - don't blame Apple or Me or any other Mac user - blame Microsoft and the OEMS for allowing it to happen.
Ignorant Mac Hater.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
You are a fucking idiot, There is no camp, People against Mac Don't flock together like sheep like apple fanboys, they form their own opinions despite the apple propaganda.
Again you are a fucking idiot, Microsoft did not make your PC, neither is it their fault you bought shitty Pc's.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Apple won't do that.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
And wanna talk about Sheep - normally anyone that switches to a Mac does so because they were enough of a free thinker to make a clear decision to do so. Unlike the millions that simply buy a PC because "its what ive always done" or "microsoft says macs suck", etc etc etc... just like those bogus lying laptop hunters ads.
And who are you to say these machines were not decent machines at one time? The First Compaq was a nice expensive machine! Too bad it was typical of PC quality.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
most Mac fans "free thinkers" no.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Yes Mac users are free thinkers. It does indeed take some free thinking to be able to pull yourself away from the typical droning of the Microsoft propaganda machine that has us all convinced to keep buying PCs. Typical scenario is completely incorrect. My PC which was from 2004 I replace in late 2005 - only 18 months later due to massive slow downs (even after defragging and a whole system restore) and bsods. I got tired of the crap.
endlessdream94 2 years ago 2
I own a mac, much more free than you think. I made logical choices to choose Pc's over Apple branded pcs. I use to be a mac fanboy, but then I was enlighten by knowledge of Os's and hardware and switched back to Windows and started building all my Pc's. I tried Linux in the beginning but I realized its worse than Windows and highly illogical thinking. I don't hate Linux but it has a long way to catch up to Windows 7 and Vista. I am testing freebsd 8.0 as we speak. I don't like mactards.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
By your definition if someone prefers Mac you look at them as a Mactard.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
And you yourself may be more of a free thinker, but the general public has been so accustomed to the idea of when buying a new computer to just buy a Walmart or Staples PC that they don't even consider other options. Why? Its an easy decision and doesn't take much thought. And many buyers are apprehensive at the thought of trying something new or different even if its better. Thankfully I was open minded enough to try it.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
And just so you are aware - to follow what everyone else is doing - that is not the sign of a free thinker. To go against the grain and do or try something different that is only done by a few - THAT is being more of a free thinker.
Its about allowing those that thought outside the box the respect for doing so. This notion that you have some right to call a Mac user a "mactard" is just absurd and just shows you have a superiority complex and feel you are always right.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
a free thinker makes informed decisions with facts, most mac fanboys don't make informed decisions or use facts so they are not called free thinkers.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
A free thinker is able to think outside of the "norm". Most Mac users are people that simply got sick and tired of Windows PCs - plain and simple. Most of the Mac users I know - this is their story. Its very common among Mac users. And again, sir, I never saw the Mac vs PC ads on TV till long after I got my first Mac. I don't normally watch much TV. My openness to learn something new and better is what attracted me to it.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
Mac fanboys are not free thinkers. They don't base their reasons with logic and facts. Your logic is terrible " I bought crappy Windows Pc's, that means all PC's that are not mac are crappy". Free thinkers are not wannabe non-conformists Unless emo, and goth kids are free thinkers. If Mac fans never seen Mac Ad's Why do they regurgitate the same bullshit that comes from the Ad's? You have very parochial view on technology like most mac fanboys.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Mac fanboys are just the same as PC fanboys... they love their products - they love what they use. And you can disagree all you want - but to you it seems that nobody with any amount of logic would choose a Mac - am I correct with that assumption? If those are your thoughts - then you logic is flawed.
And isn't it obvious? Think freely for a moment - if a Mac user says everything thats in the ads yet has never seen them. What does that tell you? The ads are true.
endlessdream94 2 years ago

IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
dude compare the 27" iMac with any i7 machine, you won't come anywhere near the $2400 offering from apple
xsonicbladex 2 years ago
Microsoft is "nice enough"? C'mon stop living a dream world and do some research into the multitude of MS's shady and corrupt business practices of swallowing up companies and eliminating superior technology. Microsoft isn't "letting" it run on anything - they WANT it to run on anything so that EVERYTHING is running their crap.
And once again your playing a difficult hand to prove - the "overprice" game. Just can't let go of it can you?
endlessdream94 2 years ago
Yeah and Microsoft is smart by making it run on almost everything that uses x86, much better business model and that is why Microsoft succeeded where Apple did not. This is why Windows Compatibility> Mac Osx Compatibility
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Microsoft's "greed" to make their OS work on every business machine wasn't out of charity for the business world and their act of "goodwill". They wanted to be the power that they are today. And in terms of compatibility - its Apple that has done a great deal of work to be compatible with the Windows world. Shame Windows doesn't do much of that in reverse. I thought they wanted to conquer the world with their subpar technology? Read the headlines in yahoo today?
endlessdream94 2 years ago
Why would Microsoft want to be compatible with its competitor? take a business class.
Microsoft is a lot nicer than the old model IBM, Apple's model is more monopolistic than Microsoft by forcing me to buy a mac legally just to run Mac OSX which is not the best Os and neither is Windows.
IgnorantMacFannies 2 years ago
Ok, so if Microsoft is buying up competing software/tech companies and then eliminating that technology and is so greedy they'll cut corners along the way just to be the dominant name in the computer industry - how is that NOT a monopoly?

you just have to look at the iphone to see that there sheep
dirtygore 2 years ago
That was a really stupid statement, sorry but the iPhone is proof positive that the mobile phone industry was hungry for something incredibly different and easy to use. The iPhone fulfilled that need. Has nothing to do with "sheep". And to spend just a few minutes/hours playing with an iPhone or iPod touch and you're hooked. Its amazing the sheer number of people that now have one or the other.
endlessdream94 2 years ago
yeah and its incredible how many people took there iphone back or sold it for something else. people are bored with it now and want something new. the x10 and the hd2 are to phones that will make people turn away from the iphone. the nokia n series showed people what a phone can do. apple just added a touchscreen and introduced smartphones to the mainstream.
dirtygore 2 years ago
