You're welcome. My mother had the album, "Look Out For No.#1" when I was a kid and the song as well as Louis Johnson's bass playing brought back memories.
Got it on cassette tape. Our R&B station in Philly broadcast it via satellite and I stayed late that night up to record it. 32 years ago. Whew!! Gonna run it through my Mac to make a digital copy.
You're welcome. My mother bought this album featuring this song back in the late 70s when I was just a kid. The other song on that album was the original version of Quincy Jone's "Tomorrow" which was all instrumental. A young Tevin Campbell did the vocals on Quincy's version.
Louis and George were ON THE ONE back in the day. I was fortunate to have met them after a performance in Atlanta Ga a few years ago. BEAUTY & FUNK PERSONIFIED!!
I was at this concert!! Most amzing concert I have ever been 2. With the festival style seating place was jam packed & the air was so thick you got a buzz whether you wanted 2 or not! On the floor & I remember people were so f'd up they'd just pass out, crowd would stand back, they'd get carried out & you moved up in their spot. It was the battle of the thumbs. That night both LG & LJ looked there thumbs were a foot long and a blur. I think Ray Parker, Jr, & Raydio opened . Memories!!
the first time I saw them was the same night I saw Larry Graham & GCS @ the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland, on June 17, 1977 my first "big" concert. Lotta bass that night. On one song Graham broke the G, then D string and never missed a beat. It was incredible. It would have funked you up.
It would blown you away because it was festival style (no seats on the arena floor) so more people could pack into the place. Lightening hit the bldg prior to the show and the power was out for 2 hrs +, not one person left. Larry's 15 minute bass screaming solo was incredible at the end of "Earthquake" blew everybody's mind. Obviously, I'm a big GCS fan. LOL.
the only thing i ever have seen of them, before youtube, was the "stomp" video, and even that for only 2 times....I'm a real great admirer of Louis, and i cannot tell how glad i am whit all this......
That lad can play bass
