  • what program use?

  • That is unbelievably clever!

  • Where can i find the software?

When you make a movie about softwares like this, post a download link in the description so we can get it to!

  • If only there was a way not to use a webcam and to mount it directly to the screen without the colour... man.

  • You probably could, but with added cost of creating a bag that could hold all the liquid at an equal spacing while being flexible enough to press on.

You could probably created smaller bags within a larger one, but now you're essentially recreating bubble wrap, but with liquid in each pocket, but smaller bubbles of course.

Liquid could probably be something that blocks a lot of IR and is more-or-less clear. (anyone?)

  • so mount the bag on the screen of my mac pm me back please

  • I spilt the bag of blue water on my lap top and it is destroyed i am going to sue you, what is your name and address?

  • You dumbass! It is so your fault for putting a BAG OF WATER on your $2,000 PIECE OF MACHINERY! GOSH, SOME PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID!

  • take it easy man calm down it's just youtube

  • ahahahhaa

  • no way...

  • haha nice one, some people dont get sarcasm

  • could you just upload the source code, or at least a source code template, for one to use with this? also, maybe someone could use some oil-based liquid or something that would stick to the sides, and you could use a very small camera and make a large-ish touchpad? I would try, but I have like no money.

  • Awesome... I want to get this.

  • yay, now i just have to mount the sack of dyed water onto my monitor...

  • Thats Ingenious.

PS. whats the song name/ whats this genre?

  • Not sure of the song, but it sounds like some dark-ish DRUM AND BASS.

    Love that shit.

  • It's Shadow of the Beat.

  • it costs 2$ only if you already have a glass table. but if not then you have to buy one :D

  • And if you not have an extra web cam, you need to buy that to :P

  • Its fake

  • Lol you're such a fuckin idiot.

  • no it's not... i've done it with a different program.... but is still the same...

  • What software did you use? TouchLib?

  • where can i get the software or is it like homemade?

  • dude he can't buy stuff to do the real one so what makes you think its home made just look around you tube for the programe

  • ok, well the actual amazing part is the software, not any thing else, its been done before, but not DIY and with infra red cameras, already calibrated to special positions, i doubt this is real, or you are some sort of genius.

  • The software isn't rocket science. You segment the image into three parts: Background, shadow and touch point. The blue dye makes the touch points more easily visible. Excluding QuickTime boilerplate to get the camera running, it was about 80 lines of C. It posted mouse events for single touch and broadcast multitouch data through 'notifyd'.

Since there's immediate feedback, there's no need to calibrate the screen position.

  • yea its actually quite simple im just suprized by the way he did it

  • What software is that?

  • it's more like a multi - touch pad than a touch screen.

It's next to my computer, it's not the screen that I'm touching. But it is a neat idea.

  • It's actually more like a Tactiva pad, since you can see where your fingers are on the screen. It's too bad those never made it to market -- it seemed like a good compromise: You get to see the whole screen (even while gesturing), *and* you get to keep your hands in an ergonomic position.

The main problem I had was camera latency. The Tactiva pad seems to have had a *real* touchpad, so I assume it would respond instantly (only the ghost image would lag).

  • can u add the software? i bought the dye but didnt realize u didnt have the software up XD

  • Good job, but don't think the camera worth less than 1$

  • Brilliant!

reduced hardware to almost nothing making all the work done by the software. very smart. Nice video btw, I like minimalism

  • I salute your ingenuity.

  • what softwere are you using?

  • cooooooooool were did you get the softwere

  • this is brilliant!!!!!!!! bet you see alot of this kinda stuff... better bags

  • LOL!! nice try

  • .................pointless................

  • If you used that at a real bar it'd get damaged and spill everywhere. It's a nice idea however. Put a lamp under the table.

  • That's so hot and I want it.

  • fake

  • Do you even have a reason for that statement?

  • even if it is fake, that is a great idea

  • what do u mean if? ov cource it's fake, r u retarded? its a plastic bad with some water in it!!!!! and it's not a great idea, its pointless.

  • it's not fake it uses a camera under the glass table to track his fingers&change that into input

  • Are you retarded? Can't believe anything is doable if a TV Zombie can't do it? The way it works is so dead obvious i can't believe anyone could have difficulties understanding how it works.

Camera points from below to bag - Where bag is pushed - water is pushed aside - camera only has to track where the image isn't blue. Thats it. There are ready made libraries for stuff like that for many programming languages.

  • song name anyone?

and what software plugin did u use for this

  • the song is a website at the end. along with the blog and more info

  • you genius

  • Yah only thing is. Its upside down and reversed. lol retards. this would be horrible to work with. to go left you'd have to go right etc. Good idea. Horrible exicution

  • you're stupid, just reverse the crap

  • And you really believe it's that hard to mirror the image? ;)

  • that would be really easy to fix with the camera program.

  • I dont think anyone should even try to tell you how dumb what you just said actually is.

  • You are a genious!!!

  • ....genius. not genious.. geezus

  • hi, whats tha name of the track in background??

  • you are so sexy, you are the sexiest programmer I have ever been aroused me. you are a thrifty sexy man. I am in love with you currently. when I think you I multitouch myself and I see max headroom. thank you, you brilliant brilliant man

  • son of a bitch hunder of dollar shelled for a touch screen compter when all i got tos save a few buck

    "SWEET"

  • Do you need a mac?

  • did you write this interface

  • How what where, Max MSP is it?

  • QUESTION if i use say vodka would i get the same interface? sences over time water fade away =/???

  • hehe i would drink the vodka

  • 00:38 is the software used?

    pretty cool.

  • Made using Adobe After Effects. He used footage of his hand as an alpha channel which was layered over footage recorded on his computer. He then used the stroke function to make cursor follow his finger. Though, I must say a green screen or even a white background would have worked better. Looks like Full Sail student based on poor quality.

  • some people don't clue in

  • Cool...thanks for sharing!

  • How this works is the blue dye filters out the light and only when you press the bag that light gets to the camera, thus sensing motion and responding to it. It's nothing amazing.

  • What's with you people trying to put other people down. Standing on your head balancing an apple on your nose may not be amazing either -but who says it has to be? Maybe there's people out there for whom it is an amazing achievement. I think this video is cool.

  • or maybe its a plastic bag with dye in it and serves no actual electronic function, but was cleverly cut into a video of a plain computer performing mundane, plain computer tasks

  • wow...

  • iSight cameras are like a hundred bucks US. more like a $102 multitouch

  • he probaly using an apple pc with an isight camera under it i just dont know how he used the camera as the mouse sensor

  • he hooked up his camera to his computer and had some software running that would use colors to figure out where he's touching (as seen in 0:31) and then made it so he could use his mouse and other stuff using that.

  • justin wins!

  • Very cool! I might even give this a try one day. Such an ingenious use of water and a camera.

    Inspirational! 5 stars!

  • it's the greenscreen effect. or in this case, blue.

  • What the hell is it, and what did it do, how does it work, plz tell me

  • just like a touch screen but this one is a poor mans touch screen, all you need is a plastic bag, any color dye, and a camera to your computer running off motion capture software.

  • what is the software used for that, I like the Idea :)

  • How does the computer overcome the single touch interface?

  • that's sweet, i'd sure like to try it.

  • Fcuking stpid

  • FU this is qwesome

  • how did u end up an the computer

  • lol

  • cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool

  • zzzzzzzzzz

  • aint you a smarty pants

  • I don't get it.

  • What software did you used for this? RoboRealm?

  • Total Shit.

  • omg thats so cool

  • Very cool, but where was the bag? It was strapped to the monitor, right? Or was it on something else...the iSight is the webcam...cool nonetheless.

  • Super clever, but I only see one cursor: single touch, not multitouch.

  • Watch the video again more carefully...

  • Wow cool!

    Whats the songname?

  • can you uhh actually teach us in detail, i have a bet with my dad that i can make this, with YOUR way.. cmon man i dont wanna lose 5 bucks haha

  • Great !!

  • this is pretty amazing...

  • Which song is this from shadowofthebeat?

  • Wow cool!

    Whats the songname?

  • Internal Liquid Dye Displacement

    Very Nice!

  • Ha, clever!

  • what? I am really confused at what happened

  • I've done some DIY multitouch myself, using the bag is an intersting idea. But doing it the "real way" using IR light isn't really that more expensive.

  • Although having said that the IR methods take longer to setup having to modify a webcam and solder leds etc. This is a very creative way to quickly test out multitouch technology. Good job :)

  • could you explain this to me please? how does this works? can I use it on my iMac?

  • Wow pretty smart trick , it could actually work ! :D

Please could you post a tutorial to reproduce it at home ?

Could you also go a step further and use a videoprojector on the plastic bag to enhance the interactivity level ? (even if I guess adaptation and looking at the screen could be enough)
