  • lol. oops. I meant to say that it's probably the clarinet that cause the fingers to be brought out when playing legato.

  • Gosh...the fingers slamming kind of take away from the legato. This piece is really easy to play but as for showing great musical taste really seperates the professionals and the young artists. I can hear the growing musician. I like what he is trying to do. Has some good ideas.

  • Very Good!

  • Very good!

  • asians...

  • wunderbar! Bravo!!!

  • Can I please know what clarinet brand you are using?

  • Great musicality! Geez!

  • perfect. a very beautiful, warm clarinet tone...

  • That was so amazing!! I really liked how he put his feelings into his fantasy pieces :)

  • your good cllaboration is impressed to me.

  • excelent

    and

    soooo cool !!

  • FOR GOD'S SAKE,

    WHO IS THAT BEEAAUUUTIFUL PIANIST??

    and btw, excellent interpretation...

  • @franciscocio it's in all the credits... woori ko.

  • @franciscocio The pianist is Woori Ko :)

  • bravo han

  • absolutely perfect!

  • Really fantastic. How longer I listen to this video how more I´m coming beware of how fantastic (musically and technicaly and tone) this kid plays this. Best Schumann sonate on youtube! (12 years old-.-)

  • No, it is a piece of CHAMBER MUSIC, he's not a soloist, they are equal musicians.

  • @carlnielsen1 How is it a chamber music i dont get it?

  • It is chamber music because the voices are equal entities: piano and clarinet work together to create a common colour, as opposed to 'accompaniment', where the pianist either provides the orchestral reduction or constant, motorised harmonic stability.

  • You play it really really beautifull.......

  • Wow, his playing is so smooth and controlled, but still flowy. He's such a great player. (:

  • absolutely brilliant probs a bit too much body movement but thats just picky, beautiful tone all the way through

  • This is a chamber work, and if your pianist is using music, then so should you. This Schumann is not a vehicle for virtuosity, but rather intimacy.

  • @carlnielsen1 I agree which is why I only play concerti/solo pieces from memory.

  • @carlnielsen1 I think because of the type of recital it is a better idea to play from memory, since the point is to show off players and such. I duno. But your right Schumann was very good at writing intimately. I guess with such romantic dark music came a sad and suicidal work of art.

  • Well, if his aim is to 'show off' (which, in my opinion, is the lowest form of musical integrity), he perhaps shouldn't have programmed this work for a recital. Such intentions should be reserved for competitions: and all the same, it is a CHAMBER work, and he should use music out of respect to his pianist.

  • @carlnielsen1 Well the point of this recital was to show off koreas best. So in this case he had the luxury to do so, or was told to do so at least. He seems very disciplined and probably would play it with music since it is a common rule among musicians. Then again he just does not need to see music really to play it xD haha

  • Très beau phrasé

  • impresionante :)

  • Bene

  • That was quite a remarkable performance, and to think that you were only 12 in this performance. It was a pleasure to listen to. The only thing I would say is that excessive movement can sometimes distract the listener/viewer from the music being made. You have a very mature sense of musicality for someone who is your age, continue to post videos, it really is a treat!

  • Pretty little dance.

  • Comment removed

  • are you playing the A clarinet with this?

  • a este xaval ya no le hace falta estudiar mas..... su expresividad es impresionante!!

  • i really like the way you played this song. im like your age and played it not about 2 years ago but it wasnt good like this..not close

anyways keep up the work i really like your sound

  • Very nice Michael!!

  • a little flat ...

  • wow! you are really good. i wish i could play the clarinet like you!

    :)

  • but musicwise, I liked your interpretation. you are certainy improving day after day!!!

  • really, I'm not totally against body movement while playing, but I do dislike nonsensical movements. I can kinda tell when movements fit the music and when they don't.

in this piece, your movements certainly didn't match your music. Always think whether the composer would be pleased to be present at your recital. Schumann composed this when he was in emotional distress.

I'm not pro, but I hope you do heed my advice.

  • argee

  • His showy and tasteless stage mannerisms will undo him sooner or later. They're pushing him too hard, too fast. To see such a young musican postureing like that is really distressing.

  • yes, i very much agree with that. I like ur playing and it was an intersting interpretation but i disliked the continuous movement, particularly in the 3rd movement. Also, i did find the 1st movement slightly fast, however, despite this there was some exellent playing. I like your tone =__=, it suited the movements well. For your age, it was a great performance, you communicated well. Keep up the good work.

  • thats just rude, his movements are real. the KID is freakin 12 yrs old and blows away most pros, stop hatting!!!

  • I hope that wasn't directed to me; I didn't say anything rude. I just expressed my concerns and gave some "advice."

His skill I have no doubt about. but I don't like excessive body movements.

  • That was my NYSSMA piece last year, you played it really well. A little flat in the eight-note runs though.

  • Your playing is not bad...but all that dancing around the stage won't do. Forget all the so-called "showmanship" and be a real musican!

  • Han Kim... great playing, and you have improved your musicality. Gorgeous.

Your tuning in the technical sections is off (you're usually flat, like at 4:51). You also get flatter throughout the piece. You would really knock the socks off the experts if you could improve your tuning.

Good luck, and keep working as hard as you have been. You are inspiring.

  • wow..ur a great player!

    ill get there soon :)

  • beautiful!! :*}

  • Pure, Even and Clean! Kudos

  • Wow, sounds so good ! I love this piece ( I work on it with my teacher), youve done a great job !!!!!

    kisses from germany

  • hey a new video...... nice musicallity,All the way Han kim

  • OMG ! You are very gifted guy!

  • Way to go Han !!! I'm proud of you.
