  • not close enough :( digital glich cheese

  • Even the diehard fans would have to agree that there is little difference between the two, its at least 90% close. To my ears its a remarkable achievement and also the fact that the pro12 is polyphonic and a fraction of the price with midi. No doubt the Pro one excels in some minor areas but honestly, if you wanted the sound of the Pro one or Pro 5 you can't go wrong with the emulation.

  • Honestly, in a mix no one would know the difference. Use what works for you. I used to own a Pro One but had to sell it a few years ago, later bought an Alesis ION as my new lead synth, and haven't looked back. Gained patch memory, stable tuning, ring modulation, and 3rd oscillator (and an extra octave of keys) while making money off the Pro One in the process. A win-win for me.

  • pro one more musical and low fi depth and grit, smoother resonance. Pro 12 sounds good but there is no denying it sounds like an imitation, The pro 12 will work well with other digital synths, but if you where working with other analog synths it will get lost. I have a prophet 5 and prophet 8, The prophet 8 can replicate can of the p5 sounds but there not as big are defined, the P8 could easily replicate and sound fuller than the pro12. The pro12 sounds digital crap at the end of this vid

  • the p-one is more fat

  • thank you. Very interesting.Creamware is close of the pro one but still not as warm as the pro one

  • Excellent demo, thank you

  • wooow nice!

  • I actually thought the Pro12 had a more pleasing voice.

  • you can clearly sea a difference on several aspetcs (the filter and the pulse where for me the most obvious)... but for the price the pro12 seems amazing!

  • Thanks for posting, wish the pleasures of an old school physical interface combined with modern conveniences were feasible for more manufacturers.

  • What a fantastic demo!!!!!

    can't believe I haven't seen similar vids!!!

THANKS for demonstrating the power of digital! I've had my eye on the creamware for awhile, and by golly, your video almost made me cream! Such pure emulation the creamware produces, which is made obvious thanks to your wonderful video demonstration!

    MUCH LOVE!

  • Even on my lousy computer speakers, it's clear the original Pro One kills the digital clone.

  • @phreon1 Don't underestimate the power of this machine, its absolutely stunning. If you listen to 4:10 onwards the creamware sounds even fatter than the Pro one! But the bonus is I also have the Moog, Odyssey and a superb DX7 emulation and Vocoder too in the same box for silly money. I am referring to the plugiator not the dedicated synths. Worth every penny and I'll probably buy a replacement its so good.

  • @maccagrabme I'm not sure what you mean by "fat". I set my audio for mono and put on the good headphones to null out your panning and give both a level playing field. The Pro1 seems deeper/rounder in all examples, though the Pro 12 certainly seemed louder. The real analog filter is clearly superior to the digital approximation; in many examples, the Creamware is noticeably thin.

  • @phreon1 I think you are expecting too much. You are forgetting that the Pro 1 is one of the fattest synths ever and to expect an exact replica is a bit much. I think it comes very, very close to fooling 90% of ears. In a mix it doesn't matter, anything else can be resolved through EQ. I can listen to a Pro 1 sound and replicate its tone, thats good enough for what I need. The point is the Creamware is reliable and cheap and the tone and most of the depth of the original is definately there.

  • @maccagrabme I also agree with the previous poster who said the Pro 12 was too bright. You might like that sound, which is fine, but it's not how the original was, which is the whole point of a faithful emulator.

Creamware got quit a bit right and the additional features are cool, but in the end, it certainly misses that warm analog sound. In that respect, it fails. For the price though, yeah, it's cool.

  • @phreon1 It might be missing a tad of the warmth of the Pro one (what isn't?) but its not missing the warmth of analogue. It compares favourably with my Juno6, Korg DX8000 and JX8P, the only thing making those warm is the chorus anyway. I really don't think it fails in any respect, if thats the case then 100% of software synths fail too as none of them come close to the Creamware.

  • @maccagrabme Everything else aside, this is a flawed test. You're putting a Pro One up against a Prophet V emulator. Even the real Prophet V sounded different than the Pro One.

If you're going to spend around a grand for a Prophet V emulator, you might as well pony up the extra $500 and get Prophet 08 module from Dave Smith instruments (the Prophet V's creator). Its signal path is all analog.

  • @phreon1 Yes its a flawed test but it shows how good the CW is as it can emulate the tones of both. I've heard the Pro8 and its not a patch on the Pro 5 and not as nice or as flexible as the CW. I've heard all the same arguments with the Minimoog VS Moog Phatty so it shows how picky people are. The CW can emulate a very decent Moog too, some say better than a Voyager but I'll be the judge when I play one.

  • @phreon1

The pro-8 isn't that warm in my opinion

  • The Pro One has more balls in the low end, is more instable in tune, his oscillators (waveform generation) are also less regular. A little distortion too.

During a sweep, the filter makes a little "oomph" immediatly after you release the key. Brief, a VA simply CAN'T sound analog because it is NOT. Bare none.

Furthermore Creamware/Scope emulations are just too bright, agressive to my ears to sound convincing in isolation.

  • wow - the Creamware/SCOPE emulation is pretty damn good - one of the few that are genuinely close (MINIMAX is also good)

  • That Yazoo bass let it down at 1:39. A Lot thinner than the real thing on bass but the rest is strikingly similiar.

  • haha! that creameware piece of junk is a joke!

  • when you started sweeping the filters the pro12 got dusted.

  • the Pro-1 is more raw and has deeper low end.

    nice!

  • Yay! it works!

Very similar, but I think the Pro One is alittlebit nicer in most ways

wich is to bad cus the Pro 12 got MIDI and USB control and is cheaper.

I wonder if it has the same circuits as the Scope XITE-1
