contour is so much nicer. go pro is like having an ugly plastic box strapped to you. and in my opinion contour looks so much nicer, even the roam which costs far less that a gopro

Mount options: GoPro (chesty mount, I think they are more solid/less jittery video)

Flexiblity: Contour (rotating lens, blue tooth, gps, less obtrusive)

Either way you go, you will soon realize that you really aren't going all that big :(

Could this finally give the go pro a run for its money? Any chance of a remote for starting filming does anyone know? Also where are some more technical specs, stabilization, v/lux capabilities, sensor etc. How much abuse can it take? I think the big thing with the gopro is duff the casing no problem replace without having to get a new camera all together, can the contour handle the same amounts of abuse?

Is this the one with the internal video stabilization? I thought about getting a contour awhile ago... I wasn't please with their base products video quality. A video stabilizing codec was needed during editing to some what match video quality of a gopro for the same cost. I understand the premium models comes with this, but have they made their base models with this yet? I would rather pay about 150 for a gopro with the same video quality instead of about 250 for the contour.

@JTGrg I am not hating on contour. I would love to get one because I am not a big fan of the gopros and their less than pleasing aesthetic design. I guess if some one a bit more in the know could provide some light on this that would be rad.

@JTGrg Well, its not like GoPro has in-camera video stabilization either! The new ContourROAM is $200 and has the same optics as the $500 ContourPLUS.

It's not the same as the GoPro... It's better.

I did allot of comparing and I'm glad I chose the Contour.

The only advantage the GoPro had was the optional viewer attachment to instantly review videos and a time lapse option. Now the newer Contour has a Bluetooth viewer that you can use your smart phone as a monitor. It also has a remote mic input now.

The compact profile is perfect [more aerodynamic] and doesn't look like a white box on your head or car.
