@stonyhillpo Hahahahahah I saw the one with the red jump suit, which you performed on a Top of the Pops episode from 10th April 1975. It would be interesting to know, whether this episode showed a repeat performance from the 10th April 1975 show or whether it was a new performance. Unfortunately we will never find out, as the BBC wiped this episode !!!!
@MrTelevisionradio I dont think it was the red jump suit...I recorded about 6 top of the pops. ..Hurt so Good..jumped up from bubbling to the 40's to 25 to 11 and then to 4 and then I did "Love me baby" the follow up too. I remember shopping for all the different gowns for TOTP with Pete Waterman!! hahahaha..
@stonyhillpo On this episode, your track "Hurt So Good" was at number 4. Interestingly your songs was played 6 times on TOTP throughout 1975, but only one has survived and thats your 10th April 1975 performance !!!!
@MrTelevisionradio The first time I did TOTP was the red jump suit!...after that , the song jumped into the top 40! I did one in a black gown, one in a green gown, (the one on the album cover) one a blue gown with a flower at my neck...I also remember a peach gown...I really wish I could see them..maybe while i am there I will ask BBC if they are in the vaults!!
@stonyhillpo Unfortunately the BBC wiped many Top of the Pops episodes. In fact there were 6 episodes featuring you in 1975. All of them, except one were wiped by the BBC. The only surviving episode featuring you is the 10th April 1975 !!! The BBC in the 60's and 70's destroyed many episodes of TOTP and other programmes. Reason, because video tapes (they were size of car tyres !!!) in those days were very expensive, so TV companies basically recorded over (i.e. wiped) programmes !!!
@MrTelevisionradio How sad.....I suppose unlike newspapers they could not be saved on reel to reel....I wonder if anyone taped any of them??...anyway...have to make some new memories...Love, Susan
@stonyhillpo Don't forget in 1975, very few people had video tape recorders. In the UK, video tape recorders in 1975 was worth thousands of pounds to buy - it certainly wasn't something for any ordinary family to buy !!!! It was basically at that time, a toy for the very rich !!!!
Memories of a very different time
