  • its a double rainbow... what does it mean?

  • "Oh the sweet sound of that butt."

  • Sorry of topic but If you have spacecraft why not bring in a couple of large comets rather than trying to condense moisture out of desert air, making it even harder on your skin?

  • Dantooine is the planet that formerly had a Jedi Enclave. Until Malak came along... he kinda ruined that...

  • "oh the sweet sound of that but(t)!"

  • Actually, I haven't seen Star Wars xD any of the series.

  • @Dekutard *YOU...what have you NOT done?* lol! :)

  • How do you orbit 2 stars and its still -225 degrees????????

  • that picture is of jupiter.... not saturn

  • 1:57 French the llama thats cold.

  • Here are the temp conversions for those asking for them:

In Winter it would be -170.5 degrees

In Summer it would be 20 degrees

    Hope it helps :)

  • There is a new hope!!!!!!!!

  • god i love the sweet sound of butt

  • Star Wars planets out there were coming for u just wait oh u just wait.

  • Another geek famous planet with two suns? Gallifrey.

  • I haven't seen star wars..

  • some how it orbits 2 suns but its cold there

    somebodys lie'n

  • is that planet really bigger than the stars?

  • Wait a second... you said it is too cold to live there so wouldn't that make it Hoth instead of Tatooine?

  • @MrBelchinator no it wouldnt be hoth because hoth did support life unlike kepler 16b remember there were creatures that they rode on like horses but i allways thought they looked like llamas and there was that animal that tried 2 eat luke but he chopped its arm off. so yeah hoth had animals and people were able to b there kepler 16b does not

  • @jackskellington6277 Otherwise known respectively as tauntauns and wampas.

  • @jackskellington6277 But doesn't kepler have the giant eating thing that mr.bounty hunter fell in?

  • I really like this show. But in the spirit of science it would be nice with the temperatures in Celcius (or Kelvin if you rather prefer that).

  • wrong planet that is jupiter

  • Science: A new hope

  • he should do a video about absolute 0

  • Why cant you be my fucking science Teacher :(

  • It's Hoth!!!!

  • Was watching this and for whatever reason like 3 Star Wars commercials came on the tv in my living room.

  • So I was watching your videos maybe two nights ago? (Such a fan)....and today I had discovered Think Geek after looking at the merch on the Minecraft website(I have a Creeper obsession) And.....after maybe 3 hours of looking at everything...I found your 2D glasses......I got so pumped. :D

  • you remind me of vsauce

  • Orbits 2 stars, too cold to live there.

    What at troll planet

  • @bobtheman1y you mad bro

  • wait...I thought Tatooine had 4 stars?

  • Scientist are nerd when they are little, and nerds like Star Wars, so why didn't they name it Tatooine?

  • "A binary star system, just like Luke friggen Skywalker's Tatooine!" made me lol!

  • Why don't you use Celcius?

  • @vgmaster831 Ahaha. I was just about to post the same when I noticed your comment.

    But maybe he changed that in following videos, I still have some catching up to do before I can say "Y U no °C?" or something. <_<;

  • @vgmaster831 most of his fan base is probably American.

  • ...you remind me of my friend David so much that it's scary.....

  • Oh! The sweet sound of that but. Great video, poor choice of words.

  • Dantooine is where Leia told that asshole admiral where the rebel base was located and he destroyed it using the death star. DUH.

  • 1:33 sorry. i already came

  • ...........ive never seen star wars. but i did enjoy seeing Hank in a robe-thingy! :)

  • Never seen star wars muaha

  • Is it bad that I've never seen Star Wars? Ever?

  • @BrokenByAChord Depends on the people you're telling. In my case, I'm not going to beat you down, but I am going to say you're kind of missing out. Prequel trilogy's skippable, but I'd recommend getting on seeing the original trilogy (there's also a fantastic radio adaptation of the original).

  • @g2theIrishPianist Lol Thank You :D

  • FANTASTIC COINCIDENCE! I was watching this and to thinking about absolute zero. I was very curious, so I googled it a little and what is on the first website I click? A discussion board about absolute zero, with the first post written by someone called...

    ...wait for it...

    ...HankSolo.

  • im only 11 and i luv dis!!!!

  • "Good stirrings of chemistry is basicly how life happens" ahahahaha.... I love how casually it came out. Almost sounded like a proven fact ;)

  • Why does the planet Kepler16B have such a wide variety of tempatures compared to Earth?

  • @lololpwnedlolol atmosphere

  • Dantooine is rural and farming. Mostly plains and fields. Yavin IV is what your thinking of thats swampy with a rebel base.............3 cheers for us REAL fans :P!

  • @celticdude234 I think he was just so flustered that he made a mistake.

  • @celticdude234 You're*

  • @celticdude234 You're confusing Dantooine with Tatooine.

  • Haha. You said Saturn. That was clearly Jupiter 0:25

  • Comment removed

  • Gallifrey? Maybe they all just have a TARDIS to stay in for winter.

  • The weird moment when the advert before the video is for star wars.

  • finaly a nerd i can look up to.. just dont get blinded by the double sun..

  • You said Kepler 16B was about the size of Saturn and then you used an image of Jupiter to represent it.

    That is all.

  • I find it beyond incredible that as geeks and nerds fall in love with sci-fi the intentionally go and discover things in sci that aren't so fi after all.

  • yay...lemons

  • It's planet namek!

  • Hank, please give us the temperatures in Celsius, too.

The US is the only developed nation that doesn't use the metric system and I'm not from there

  • "And oh the sweet sound of that butt..."

  • He says size of Saturn, why is there Jupiter?

  • ugh converting farenheit to celsius can be tiresome at times.

  • I wrote a paper about this last year!!!!

  • You're stretching really far. However, being a Star Wars fan spans the gap.

  • "the sweet sound of that but"

  • You know what's funny? I actually HAVEN'T seen Star Wars! XD

  • @Wandergirl108 um...

  • @TullyBuddy Yeah, I know, right? XD But hey, if you think THAT'S bad, listen to this: I have no intention or desire whatsoever to ever see Star Wars, EVER. *trollface*

  • @Wandergirl108 No stop! You're going to make me cry :'(

  • @TullyBuddy Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't know it mattered so much! XD I'm sorry for avoiding Star Wars like the plague because in my mind it is sort of a plague of mainstream anti-nerdness that I hate the thought of at all being associated with... *trollface*

  • @Wandergirl108 hipster girl say waht now? Hey, you! you're dogging on my religion here..

  • @DoomzdayDarling Oh, I'm so sorry. XD No, really, I am - I know what it's like to have something I'm religiously obsessed with slammed on like that, and I know it hurts. I'm sorry for being unable to resist the trollish impulse here...Hey, if you like it, I have nothing against you for it! Go do your anti-nerd nerd thing! ;D *trollface*

  • @Wandergirl108 I'm not really too obsessed. I didn't grow up with it. But cleanse your mind! Its mainstream BECAUSE its full of nerd-dom!

  • @Wandergirl108 Why not?

  • @g2theIrishPianist Why not what? Why do I not want to see Star Wars? Uh, read the other comments in this conversation. Why can't I resist the trollish urge? Um...I don't know! ;D

  • This may be a little pedantic, but I'm pretty sure that, when using this particular system to name distant stars and planets, a capital letter at the end of the name is for a star and a lower case final letter denotes a planet. "Kepler 16B" would be referring to the second star in the system, not the first planet.

  • Isnt it possible for life to exist in different conditions? Or has this been tested? It seems like different lifeforms would be able to evolve for different environments.

  • @KrykoStorm yeah, they proved life could be created or reproduce, in ammonia without nitrogen I believe. I may be wrong on the nitrogen part, but a scientific test to see this found out that life can form in ways that it doesnt have to form using elements "as we know it" (oxygen, water etc). We always search for life based on conditions "as we know life can exist" but if evolution teaches us anything, it would be that life probably can learn to thrive as we dont know it. Its been proven too.

  • Is it named kepler after johann kepler?

  • @1joy453 Sure is ^^

  • i use the dagobah system sun in minecraft

  • says saturn - uses a picture of jupiter

    vut....

  • @necronsplayer That's an artist's rendition of Kepler 16B, it just happens to look suspiciously like Jupiter.

  • @RockinTheBassGuitar Suspicious indeed.

  • @necronsplayer hey smartie.... that wasn't jupiter, that was Kepler 16B orbiting two suns. :p

  • @necronsplayer it does not have a ring, it would be hard to photoshop in.

  • Comment removed

  • @necronsplayer Let's presume he's innocent of this vile crime until proven innocent.Let's say it's his editor that's retarded,mkay?

  • @Th3GoldenGam3r Guilty.Proven guilty not innocent.Seems I'm the retarded one.

  • Topic: what is a virus?

  • "And oh, the sweet sound of that But!"

  • A Tardis on Tattooine! Omg!

  • Lets go kill another planet!

  • Dantooine is actually a grassland planet...

  • So, I haven't actually seen Star Wars. I'm really starting to think that perhaps I should.

  • @JujuJade you have not lived.

  • @JujuJade Would definitely recommend the original trilogy, much better in the story department; and while the concept is interesting, I mostly enjoy chastising the characters when watching prequel trilogy. There's also a radio series of IV, V, and VI that's excellent.

  • Saturn or Jupiter?

  • What is it's not a moon?

  • "oh the sweet sound of that (butt)" heehehehe

  • I have never seen star wars

  • u gotta use celcius man! desimal clock and the works! Metric ftw!

  • also please talk about kepler 22-B, it sounds pretty epic but im only ever able to find the same stats and info onn it wherever i look

  • the amount of virgins commenting here is astounding

  • I beg of you show Celsius as well!!

  • That's why you go to Florida for the winter!

  • YAY this means i was right all along! there is a possibility that some where in our galaxy star wars could be happening and the death star could be real

  • could you do a show about quark's?

  • We watched this today in Science! I was ridiculously excited and turned to everyone around me saying "THAT'S HANK GREEN! HANK! LOOK!" but no one knew who he was. :(

  • So I googled the Fahrenheit temperatures. And yes, * is supposed to be the degrees symbol because I'm too lazy to google again.

    -275*F = -171*C (winter on Kepler-16b)

    68*F = 20*C (summer on Kepler-16b)

  • Comment removed

  • It's too massive for life, too hot, lightening storms etc. shitty place to live.

  • "Oh, the sweet sound of that but..." I totally laughed out loud at that and was shocked that it wasn't mentioned in the top comments.!!

  • You have a science show and use Degrees F??? What were those summer and winter temperatures on a scientific scale? Only Americans use F...for fails to be a useful temperature scale for calculations. Why don't you say 275 and five-sixteenths degrees?

  • @Balmmaker I was going to complain about that, but you beat me to it.

And you call yourself a Scientist, Hank!

  • lol ur great man

  • I vote we send tardigrades out to the planet, and MAKE LIFEEEE!!!!!!!!

  • Kepler 16B moon=Hoth?

  • OMG I DID A PROJECT ON THIS IN MY SCIENCE CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ohh that butt-Hank Green

  • A moon, orbiting a gas giant, orbiting a binary star system. Yes.

  • Your far too trusting Hank. Dantooine is far too remote to make an effective demonstration. But don't worry, we shall deal with your rebel friends soon enough. You may fire when ready.

  • @KapnKerfuffle I find your lack of "you're" disturbing.

  • Hah. Hank has the same problem with his shirts as I do.

  • theres a gay add O.0 ????

  • Please provide temperatures in celcius for us european viewers :)

  • @pixelsalt really? cant you just i dunno give your lazy fingers the exercise and Google it yourself?

  • Lucas stole the idea of Tatooine from Dune, aka Arrakis.

  • you should talk about time travel!!

  • What?! I just got an ad about starwars, no joke!

(for the release of episode 1 3D)

  • The first planet other than K-PAX.

  • Dantooine is actually not a swampy jungle planet, you're thinking of Dagobah. Dantooine is actually a fairly flat grassy world inhabited mostly by farmers. You are correct about the rebel base though.

  • @delta7213 isnt it in the Dagobah system.... i cant remember if its called dantooine but.. i you could be wrong, i dunno

  • @delta7213 Dantooine is a jungle planet, its not swampy but it has jungles. And grasslands with farmers.

  • If 0 celsius is 32 fahrenheit, I deduce that, without knowing the celsius temp because I live in America, -275 fahrenheit is one thing....too freaking cold. Fyi, so no one has to continue looking for it, -275 fahrenheit is about -170 celsius. Like I said, too freaking cold.

  • why does a planet need a moon to have seasons?

  • @socksandcookies It doesn't. He's saying that the moon may have seasons, due to passing behind the planet.

  • @socksandcookies I think he's talking about the moon having seasons.

  • did anyone else catch that when hank said "scientists found a planet the size of saturn orbiting a binary star system" the graphic is of jupiter orbiting a binary star system? is it on purpose to show that the new planet doesn't have rings?

  • Oh come on people, don't complain about it not being in metrics. Google is only like two clicks away and it WILL have some way to convert it to metric.

Be glad this great video is here anyways :) [Though being as Hank is from the USA, it's obviously going to be in our units. Just saying.]

  • I was watching star wars and I sit down at my computer and this is the fist video I see. O_o

  • can you use the Metric systeme too please?

  • celsius units would also be nice :)

  • I have a "new hope" for extraterrestrial life. See? Get it? Also, thank you for knowing the difference between Dantooine and Tatooine. XD

  • About the size of Saturn

    *picture of Jupiter*

You are not a Jedi yet.

  • "And oh, the sweet sound of that but"t. :D

  • Dantooine...I miss that planet, it was my favourite in the KoTOR series.

  • @LordReserei01 Damn, the change from KoTOR to KoTOR hit me real hard... the whole Enclave was completely destroyed.

  • I know right? I'm glad there are mods out there like the "Restoration Project" and conversion mods to change things up a little bit.

  • @LordReserei01 First, I meant "the change from KoTOR to KoTOR 2", I was a little tired so I wasn't really looking straight. Second of all, the project's been abandoned. There is a walkthrough of the game at lparchives (dot) com, which restores like 90% of the cut content as screenshots (you can't really access them in-game), a whole new planet, lots of other storyline options, but noooo, LucasArts had to rush for a Christmas release.

  • Yeah, I gathered you meant that and have all of the content that modders have been working hard at. I think that if LucasArts worked at it longer or didn't cut a lot of stuff like on Korriban - KoTOR 2 would've been a whole lot better on it's own without so many restoration mods.

  • did anyone else notice that when the blue saturn thing went around the star, the shadow didnt change! the side facing the star was in shadow at one point!! :O

  • Everyone's who's interested in finding planets like this can go to Zooniverse website? It's a place where scientists put up data and have you try and go through it with an untrained eye (They tell you what to look for though) and help them sort through the data to find planets or uncover ancient civilizations.. it's fun and amazing and you can help find planets through the thing they have called planethunter. :) Try it, I thought it was fun.

  • Hi Hank, thanks for bringing science to the masses! It's a great channel, but please could you use SI units! SI units (a.k.a. metric) are the recognized units of the international scientific community and are also the units of choice in most parts of the world. We want meters, seconds and Kg and especially Celsius!

  • The size of Saturn... and yet, you use a picture of Jupiter?

  • Wow, and in Star Wars Tatooine is the hot planet, I'd hate to visit Alderaan

  • DOUBLE SUNSET all the way across the sky.

  • @pbjellybeanful Hah Pocket God:P

  • "Oh the sweet sound of that butt," wow Hank. haha
