This looks really good! I just started learning to animate recently. Can I ask how you got the render to look so nice like this? I mean the way it's brightly lit all around with soft shadows on the floor? Also, the surface of the fox appears very smooth. It all showcases your animation so well, I'd love to be able to create a similar look for my animations.
@singerboy89 Thanks. I did this a while ago, so I can't remember the exact specifics in Maya, but I believe I used FinalGather in the MentalRay renderer, a white/grey environment colour (in the camera's settings) and a UseBackground shader on a ground-plane (to catch the shadows).
A similar result can be achieved in 3DsMax using the Light-Tracer renderer and a skylight (Don't quote me on that, as it may have changed since I last used it in 3dsMax version 9).
Nice! There's overlapping action in his tail and ears, but not on the tufts of fur on his face? Also, when you animate a walk, try to give him something to think about. It's like, he's thinking "haters gonna hate!" It thats the goal, then awesome!
Again thank you very much, I am a beginner at all this stuff and trying to take some advice from animators like you. I'll look at Maya/3ds Max and 11 second Club again thank you :-D
@alyandajvideos it is banjo kazooie music. Btw nice job on the walk cycle. I just started blender software and not really sure how to create my own characters and scenes and things as such. Can you give a guy a few tips?
Thanks, it is indeed from Banjo Kazooie/Tooie. I've got no experience in Blender unfortunately (only Maya/3ds Max), and I'm not too good at modelling and rigging myself (the fox was created by someone else) but you might be able to find some free rigs for download at the 11 Second Club, and experiment with some animation. If you want to learn about the principles of animation, I also recommend reading the Animator's Survival Kit.
Cool~ thanks! actually i saw this title while searching youtube but didnt go click it.. hahaha
Yeah ok, i'm juz done with blocking so moving on to spline mode... really like how u animate the walkcycle, looks so natural ^^ i need to watch it once everyday to get inspired. hahaha
I love the follow through on the ears and tail. This walk cycle is great. :)

Overall, I think this is a great walk cycle. The inclusion of the Banjo-Kazooie music seems very fitting. Keep up the good work! : )

nice walk cycle!!!
i'm trying out this rig for my sch project.
Its fun to animate.
btw what's the title of the BGM??
iwannabefilmmaker 1 year ago
@iwannabefilmmaker
Thanks,
The title is "Welcome to Jinjo Village" and is actually from Banjo-Tooie, rather than Banjo Kazooie, as I had mistakenly credited.
I would love to see how your animation turns out, post a link if you put it on Youtube.
