  • what in a hell is that thing on her head?! and why did viola and cello swiched places?

  • What do you mean "why did viola and cello switched places?" This is pretty standard quartet seating.

  • well from my expirence its always like this: violin1, violin2, viola, celo... this is the standard world wide used seating for the quartet... this is the first time that i see it this way... its also the seating for orchestras (string section ofcourse) then they have bases behind celos... wood winds behind 2nd violins and violas, etc... how did you come up with this seating?

  • I've played in a number of quartets and orchestras, and you're right, in an orchestra the seating you stated is usually used. But the majority of professional quartets switch the cello and the viola; this allows the second violin and the viola to communicate better, for they often share similar parts. I know the Emerson String Quartet sits like this, as well as the Cleveland String Quartet, the Borodin String Quartet, and the Míro String Quartet, and there are many others.

  • this is really the first time i see this... i havent played ina quartet being 2nd violin yet so i dont know how much of communication 2nd and viola really need, but logicaly wouldnt they have less of a problem "comunicating" if they were closer together? well i dont know... this just seems a bit odd... well anyway, you havent answered my first question.. WHAT is that thing on her head?!? LOL... is that just a weird wig or just a crapload of hair gel ? LOL ^_^

  • She probably put a bottle on her head, than used a pony tail holder to hold her hair up around it.
