I dont agree with you that thier a very few films for women. What about all the "chik flicks" that are made every year. Plus in recent years there has been BJ dairy, My big fat greek wedding and many more. You review implys there is 1 or 2 films for women every 10 years. Thats rubbish.

Wow! Great review! Finally a guy who speaks seriously and intelligently about Sex and the City. I'm tired of hearing some of the crap being thrown at this movie, not to mention some sexist comments about it and some people thinking that it will cause the end of the world or something.

Having now seen the movie... It wasn't great, but it was good. They overstuffed it with sub-plots and the inexplicable grab at the "Tyler Perry" demography... but they still had a good story with characters people came to care about and made it well.

My girlfriend never really watched the show and she understood what was going on and enjoyed it (she, however, is PSYCHED about Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2).

Granted, I realize that the MPC audience isn't considering seeing SatC...

to me this movie is about 4 MILFS that have kids or are married and they still want to be fucked by hunks. And they act like teenage BFFs (Best Fashion Friend) and everytime one of them gets cheated by her man, the others comfort her by inviting her yo join them at shopping.

Well I never quite watched the show, and as such has no idea what the show was about, but for all I heard about the show, this review is definately more informative about it than anything else I've seen so far.

I'm a 32 year old man and I'm making my girlfriend drag me to see the movie. I'm surprised more people don't seem to draw the line between SatC and Golden Girls.

To connect this to other discussions, a large part of SatC's success is that people genuinely cared about the characters, to the point that they got mad when Carrie was sleeping with Big (when he was married). When people care about the characters, the drama, comedy, and action (whichever there is in a movie or TV show) will work

Good job yet again BUT everything you've said is true except one thing: not every single teenage girl/female student actually gives a crap about this movie (why would I see it? It's not like I ever watched an episode.) hell, my Mum's a fan but she's not desperate to see this movie.

I do realise that for some reason the women of your generation and older seem to prefer to avoid certain kinds of movies but the girls of my generation are more willing to watch action movies out of genuine interest.

Very well thought out arguments, U explain your points very well. You've actually convinced me to give this movie a chance. I've been dragging my feet ever since seeing it came up b/c honestly some of the aspects of the show annoy me and with movies at $9 a ticket where I live I sorta have to be...selective. But you have got me to thinking now. Also, great job on the audio review. It actually works very well, and reminded me a little of the Transformers commentary u made. Keep up the good work!

I thought there was not much validity in calling it the female Star Wars. But then it hit me: SW fans dress up like SW characters and Sex and the City fans do the same, except the costumes this time around are designer shoes and whatnots. It may even be called merchandise. Or just great product placement.

Hey don't knock 1st Wives Club...I like my cheese whiz! Well I'm not going to go see it. But sense I'm not over 30 i'm not expected to. I didn't watch the show either, but maybe this movie will prompt more female oriented films like it and not just sequels. But then again this Hollywood and they have yet to make a Wonder Woman movie...which I want to see!!!
