on the Free to play, technically it NOT free to play. it "Buy to play" you buy the game you play. so i will compare a old B2P game. GW1 they receive A grade.
It's crazy how amazing animation is getting these days, I still gaze at in awe whenever I watch cutscenes in games like Final Fantasy and the later Assassins Creed games.
Also the main character looks so much like a guy I know, it's scary.

Someone should make an offline hack for this game to let people access the character creation viewer and maybe run around in the empty world if its contained in dats. meh. Would have been handy to have something like that in FFXI to practice soloing shit too.
Honestly? As awesome as FF is, Square Enix has no business making MMO's. You can't just take Final Fantasy and make it multiplayer (which is what they did) because then you're in league with other mmo's, and FFXIV can't compete. From the standpoint of an mmoer, boring quests, boring battle, boring game.
Also, the graphics in this vid are way better than the actual game. I'd love to live in a future where a game engine (a multiplayer one, at that) can run graphics like this. :3

The game is leaps and bounds since its original release. Alot of the system have been revamped and lots more are planned.
If you have a copy or a buddy pass you can still log on free of charge as its pretty much been put back into beta until they feel its ready for its PS3 launch. Take another look. Its free to play until PS3 launch basically so theres nothing to lose. And trust me its WAY better than any other f2p out there.
You know why this game sucks? Because it's not modern (except graphics) and there's no science fiction, just mystical-medieval-whatever... Seriously, if SE keeps making ff games like this, then they don't deserve flying cars (the mystical-medieval style lovers also don't deserve flying cars, unless they are vintage-styled). And if there will still be mystical-medieval style lovers, then their homes should be designed exactly like that and the sci-fi haters should live in villages...
the only content the game has at the moment is running,levequests..which is running+2minutes killing then run/teleport back.
the maps are large bland and boring..exactly like the city maps. theres just no point to do anything. then we have a gui that needs to be completely rebuilt, combat that puts you to sleep, crafting that makes no sense (lvl10 items to make a lvl 5 item...huh??)

the citys are so badly designed for starters..there huge empty mazes..and i mean huge..try 10 minutes running from one quest giver all the way around the city to the other quest giver whos actual on the level below you..........theres nothing to do in the city or the game.
the music in the second half reminded me strongly of neo-exdeath theme from ffv. maybe its my dodgy memory but its actually interesting for us who played the old final fantasies to hear themes being reused.
you know what would be cool, a game with a movement and action system of monster hunter tri (or any other), keeping this system all the time even when you are in a non-fighting place (i mean, without the Take the quest and go system) so that the monsters could be just outside the town.. cool huh? i mean i have a lot of ideas in my mind for a percfect mmo action rpg or however you call it and i'm sure some of you guys want that too... any mmorpg (download or browser) gets boring at some point..

SE admitted in review, they didnt have time to add whole content. So at current state, its quite boring. But I think it might be a good game. No sooner than in a year tho.
Despite the bad reviews and low amount of players, I want to believe that SE will manage to address all the problems before the PS3 comes out. If they do, I might buy it. The beta was terrible but FFXIV has a great potential if they do it right.
people are saying that this game is really bad but to be fair the pc version has been released about 6 months before the PS3 version so that they can have more time for feedback, improvement and a lot more development for the game. SE have said that they are going to include so much more stuff before march arrives and they will also be adding this to the PC version so lets not jump to conclusions before the game is finished....
I don't see how anyone could mistake this game for being anything other then FF. Loved the cinematic looked just like any FF one I've seen. Hopefully they'll get to work on the game and fix it up. Hopefully it'll be as good as FFXI.

Right before it got released, I was warning people about how bad this game actually was. I knew from the beta. I WAS TRYING TO WARN THEM.
They all called me a troll. Pretty much 90% of them thought so.

I still dont get why people say FF13 sucked. I found it to be alright. People dont realize its 2011 now, i mean seriously, does everyone want every FF game to be the same as the earlier series. "Oh look its FF 17, its the same as FF9, just better graphics and more items". See where im going with this...

Don't simply give the bard something to sing about, give the audience a game worth playing. Y'know, something that is better than average, considering the price the game will probably cost, and the fact that the bulk of MMO players who are willing to pay are already playing WoW. This will have to be beyond good to compete. Cause the FF series has sucked as of late, with the sole exception of FFVII : CC. Which was amazing..

I have a serious question, why are American and European games designers so scared to create attractive male protagonists. Honestly anything they come up with looks like an evolutionary throwback, but that boy would get all the girls (and a few of the guys as well).

Because unfortunately, most guys over here are complaing about how 'girly' the male protagonists are in Japanese MMOs. I don't expect to West to budge on that any time soon, though it would be refreshing.

@lykon7 It's not so much the designers as the culture. In Western/Euro culture, looking even slightly like a girl still carries connotations of homosexuality. Japan has no real problem with androgyny.
Funny thing is, Cloud Strife didn't really start looking girly until Advent Children, yet everyone now acts like he's *always* been that way, despite his plainly masculine appearance in FF7.

SE admitted in review, they didnt have time to add whole content. So at current state, its quite boring. But I think it might be a good game. No sooner than in a year tho.

Despite the bad reviews and low amount of players, I want to believe that SE will manage to address all the problems before the PS3 comes out. If they do, I might buy it. The beta was terrible but FFXIV has a great potential if they do it right.

people are saying that this game is really bad but to be fair the pc version has been released about 6 months before the PS3 version so that they can have more time for feedback, improvement and a lot more development for the game. SE have said that they are going to include so much more stuff before march arrives and they will also be adding this to the PC version so lets not jump to conclusions before the game is finished....

I don't see how anyone could mistake this game for being anything other then FF. Loved the cinematic looked just like any FF one I've seen. Hopefully they'll get to work on the game and fix it up. Hopefully it'll be as good as FFXI.

okay wait I'm really confused.... If this thing has like a trailer and this opening... then shouldn't it have like a main storyline where you play as the dude and not the WofW version??? What is the point of the trailer if you really don't play as the dude in the vid.
