  • not this year. at one point it was filling up 1 to 2 feet a day :0

  • No worries--the chemtrails have created massive snowpack in the Rockies!!! Of course we'll all die of respiratory failure breathing the crap and the folks along the Mississippi got flooded out when the snows in the midwest melted but since the program is secret they can't be sued!!!

  • It's a man made lake in the middle of the dessert during a drought. People with half a brain can figure out this is mother nature at work. It's called EVAPORATION!

Point 2. Isn't global warming caused by pollution? Since when does sunny Lake Powell have pollution? I've been there many times and never seen a brown cloud anywhere.

  • Droughts happen. Mead almost went dry in the 50's. Global Warming?!?!?! Only fucking sheep believe that bullshit!!! Google the time magazine cover from 1975 about the ice age that was coming!!! Wake up sheep!!!! We have had a drought and an increased demand on water out west. We should have built another mega dam before the foold years in 83 and 84 and we would have three lakes to support the legions of sheep who depend on this water but want to drain it!!!

  • I was there a week ago. A Californian, who had just arrived, said they had camped right where we were sitting a year ago and the water level is now 15 feet HIGHER. So you may want to fact check.

  • dude the earth is gonna do what its gonna do. not worth worrying bout it..

  • I think its more about caring for ourselves then the earth because the earth doesnt care what we do with it. Its used to mass extincions, and supervulcanos or asteroid impacts messing up the atmosphere for 100's of years.

  • we nedd to take care oof the earth i cant stand seeing driought ruin it

i dont undstand why people say gw cant warm us lokk at this video as proof!!!!

  • Wow! 47%, NOT! Need to check your data! It was at that level in 2004!! Now is on the rebound and at 68%

  • you left off the other part of the lake the big part I wonder if this is also helped along by the over building of the area by revenue seeking lefty run cities with lots of programs , welcome to ca. style gov good luck

  • It kind of looks seasonal. Like it dries up and refills.

  • There is seasonal variation, but this shows year-to-year change. The pictures are from once each year (in spring, close to the annual minimum water level). The reservoir level in 2005 was the lowest ever since Lake Powell was filled in the 1960s.

  • I have been saying for 15 years the biggest problem of the future will be desertification

  • oh shit...I just realized something

  • This shows nothing. It could easily be photoshoped. There are no references given, no dates, imagery sources, etc. Lame.

  • The images are from NASA's Landsat 5 satellite, from March, April, or May from 1999 through 2009. NASA's Earth Observatory web site (Under "World of Change" (Google for URL)) has an explanation, dates, and large images. You could also look at the BLM data for the water level of Lake Powell if you're skeptical.

  • Now that's good information to have. One can't just accept information as is, without references and now I have something from which I can form my own conclusion. Thanks.

  • Classic!

  • Lake Powell is at 47% of its capacity, Lake Mead at 43%. They ARE drying up, due to prolonged drought. If it continues, places like Las Vegas are going to have look elsewhere for water.

  • they'll fill again...its not like a few years of drought is the end of the world...we go through these cycles...

  • "Drought struck southern Utah in the early twenty-first century. The droughts effects were easily seen in the fluctuating water levels of Lake Powell in a series of satellite images from 1999-2009."

  • how to unsubscribe from wired, because they post pointless stuff..

  • is call winter

  • i went river rafting on the colorado in utah.utah is a good state to visit.

  • I agree with Martin, that dam should be gone. It has dramatically changed the grand canyon for the worse.

  • YEH THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME

  • They should have expanations please at least on the description of the video.

  • In Brazil they desalinize seawater with solar power.

In USA we drain our national parks.

  • @undiesinabunch The canyon was better before the dam went in. I remember it well, and spent a lot of time there when I was a kid. It use to be an amazing beautiful place that rivaled Canyon Lands NP.

  • @Postie218 what year were you born?

  • It refills a little at the end though, so there was a happy ending after all.

  • @BinkieMcFartnuggets

not so happy considering millions of years of eccentric erosion and beautiful landscape was flooded never to be seen again. at the cost of losing enough water to supply the LA basin for 1 year due to evaporation and seepage. yay, happy.

  • is this current? what is causing the drought? is anything being done about it? what are the ppl doing as a response?

  • This video is linked from an article on their main site. I thought people would have figured that out by now.

  • probobly gloABAL WARMING

  • proboly no duhhh it is!!!
