  • Absolutely loved this song, my then wife and I danced well to this song

  • Those were the days or should I say my days, wish I could turn back time

  • When you think 'DISCO', you have to think of this song.

  • Movin & Grovin & Movin & Movin - so uplifting YES

  • best version on the net, well done

  • Comment removed

  • Music genres are doors that open up a whole new world for those diving into the movement during their teenage years. Disco certainly did this for me as for many of the guys and gals admiring this melodic track. This is as good as it gets with pitch slides, orchestation and the very best of lyrics... Up Harlem down on Broaday!

  • Were their a couple Odysseys during this era? I know there was one from California making disco music

  • I don't care what anyone says, the "disco era" was one of THE most enjoyable and exciting "dancing" eras of MY LIFE. I've always loved to dance but the disco music of the 1970s (I was born in 1960 so you can figure the math out) was probably the most fun I've ever had dancing and singing. "Native New Yorker" was one of the most cool songs to ever dance to. Classic disco from the 1970s: I'd give anything to get those days back simply because, I suppose, it was my "nostalgia!"

  • @tiner27 When disco appeared and became popular in the mid 70's it symbolized that 60's culture - which extended well into the early 70's - was finally over. (and just in time for me becoming an adult). Sloppy clothes and hair, hippies (whatever they ever were), acid rock, protests, "anti-establishment" ideology were replaced by a sense of enjoying life with style and fun (much more civilized, and, at the time, fresh and interesting, especially if you were young!).

  • in the service when this came out. always gave me a sense of i'll be back

  • love thjis song RI P Tony Renyolds

  • Every time I hear this song it reminds me of the good old days when my friends and I would just dance to it. The majority of them have died but their memory and those happy times continues to live on through me.

  • What happened to the feeling of love in music? It's all pop porn and loathing now.

  • @silvanusslaughter NOWADAYS MUSIC COMPANIES DONT WANT TO PROMOTE THIS KIND OF MUSIC,BECAUSE IS NO ALIENATING AND GETS YOU IN TOUCH WITH YOUR SOUL AND WHAT YOU REALLY ARE..AND MAKES YOU VALUE THE GOOD THINGS IN LIFE...

  • there is no place like New York and better people than New Yorkers!

  • @harryawentz It's a shame that many people don't pay attention to things like that. My husband's not from this country and I tell him that for some strange reason every time we have a Republican president we're in a war/battle somewhere, the rich are getting richer and many Americans suffer. When we have troops deployed somewhere, the focus is off the problems of our country and placed overseas.

  • @everlastingcurves

"every time we have a Republican president we're in a war...?

    Let's see:

    Woodrow Wilson-WWI

    FDR-WWII

    Harry Truman-Korea

    JFK/Lyndon Johnson-Vietnam

    All of them DemocRats.

And let's not forget that Bill Clinton told the Sudanese he was not interested in bin Laden.

Learn some history and don't be so BIASED and IGNORANT!

  • @ElCid48 *nodding* Yes, yes....and there's this Democrat in office now that get's blamed for all the stuff that the previous Republican president messed up in his two terms in office. Democrats usually have to come in and clean up the mess that Republicans make, but somehow end up getting blamed. I agree we ALL could learn some history and try to see things from different points of views, but unfortunately it doesn't change the mess we're in now.

  • @everlastingcurves

BTW. Did you know that the Confederate States of America was founded by DEMOCRATS?

The KKK was founded by DEMOCRATS, and so were the Jim Crow Laws enacted. And the segregationist governors in the South were DEMOCRATS.

Do yourself a favor. Don't mix your goddam politics with music.

    End of conversation.

  • @ElCid48 OMG!! I'm so sorry!!!.....Was I even talking to you??? How about you enjoy the music and not let other peoples opinions get you SO bent out of shape. Have a great day!!! = )

  • This is my favorite version of this song

  • This is the epitome of Disco,,The intro is unlike no other,..,Music will never be the same..Groups today should learn thier craft from these guys,DZ from the Bean

  • A Big Feel Good Factor from The Big Apple!

    Robert, from sunny Blackpool

  • Wow. Fantastic mix. This is the version I want to hear now.

  • I was a 21 year old , hot, cutting edge disco club DJ when this came out in 77. and it is so purely disco: 4/4 beat, orchestra and wonderful "soulful" vocals...music you could feel in more ways than one.....This song is classic and always takes me back to when I was young, carefree and life was all about FUN-sex drugs and rock roll...HONEST...I Lived it!!!!!!!!7 days a week!

  • !!!(",)!!!

  • I'm also back in college taking a music course I think I'll use this song for my report, thanks, Nocaro!!!

  • In 1977 I was seven years old and heard this at Family Night at the Runway Disco in my little town , Ft. Dodge, IA...UNFORGETABLE night!!!

  • I was around when the goood music was playin! Hair blowin in the convertible, screaming w/ my friends lookin for cute guys........LOVE this!!

  • AHHHHHHHHH NYC a city that never sleeps!!! The best city in the whole wide world and I'm happy that I was born & raised in such a wonderful city!

  • @phanthomlordz @nocaro artist still do. You have to find us. We're sometimes too busy creating, killing ourselves working regular jobs, to find you. it's a two way street. Thanks for keeping real music alive.

  • Best "Disco" song of the era. Essentially a great "Big Band" (a la Count Basie) piece with a strong drum beat (that's what makes it disco) and far better than average lyrics.

    Not given enough credit. IMO.

  • a great disco sound, dancin to this at the BBC in Chicago.....great memories

  • I luv this song and group...not just cause I'm a native new Yorkers...lol...but like alot of ppl posted,it is such a feel good song...luv the video. Thanks for posting

  • This song makes still makes me right at home- ray

  • like this video....the world trade center is still there in that manhattan picture

  • GREAT UPLOAD! ONE OF MY FAVS!!! LOVE IT!

  • Disco Music was about making you feel good all over. I am glad I lived through that era. It was pure magic. You wanted to dance, not fight, you wanted to fuck, not hate.

  • i wish music artist today still had that creativity and feel to make a variety of music that hit the soul in a positive way instead of making people feel gangster and that "dont f with me attitude."

  • @phanthomlordz I couldn't agree with you more. Although many people disliked the "disco era", I'm not sure it was the "music" they didn't like. This song in particular stands out as one of the best of that time combining elements of big band with soul and rhythm and blues.

  • @Nocaro Disco was hated by Rock... because it wasnt controlled it was the ultimate expression of Freedom mixed with Funk, Tribal, classical and singers with range....

  • @phanthomlordz You are so right! This song makes you feel happy, up and carefree. "Kids" nowadays just have a pissed off, mad at the world attitude.

  • sorry now type o

  • I've bee to NYC twice now, an there's no place like it on earth !! The first time I went there was for NEw YEars' eve 06 then again in 09. The city has an atmosphere that can't be matched anywhere! If ayone of you get the chance to visit NYC, you'll seee what I mean. I gotta admit though, I miss the towers. Hail to NYC!!

  • Never been to New York, but I'm old school fell in love with this song from first hearing it,lots of memories! Miss the Lopez sisters!

  • i agree

  • I am the quintessential Native New Yorker. In 1969-1972 I helped to invent and promote New York Hustle Dancing. This song brings tears to my eyes and fills my heart with nostalgia. In 1992 I moved west and regret ever having left my Manhattan home. I was and still am a professional dancer, in fact the only one here that dances and teaches authentic New York 3 couint hustle. You can take me out of New York but you'll never take New York out of me> I am a Native New Yorker!

  • I grew up on the New Jersey Bayshore looking at the NYC Skyline everyday. Love NYC and this song. NYC has rythm all it's own and this only a Native New Yorker knows what I mean.

  • Since I first heard this song back in the 70's I never got tired listening to it!

  • Nicely done video!

  • THANK YOU NOCARO !!!! LOVE THIS !!! I live in Atlanta now but I REP NEW YORK ALL DAY... ER'DAY....QUEENS BORN ... STRONG ISLAND RAISED !!!! LOVE THIS VID !!!! MADE MY FRIGGIN DAY !!!!!
