The Organ was a great band. Last I heard, Katie Sketch, the singer, was performing with a band called Mermaids and some other band, whose name does not come to mind right now. Regardless, songs like this, "Love, Love, Love," "Memorize the City," "Steven Smith," "Basement Band Song," "Fire in the Ocean," etc. stick with their listener even after they have stopped playing. I only wish I could have seen them live. In my opinion, Canada does not get enough respect for their music.
lol are you kidding me this beats the commercial engineered bull crap any day! This video is soo creative although you can tell Kate envies Morrissey they stil develop their own individualistic style i love the organ!
Hey, why negatives comments?? its true, and dont have to be a bad thing, a lot of bands are influenced by smiths, look at Gene if you dont believe me. Maybe in the future this band could evolve and be more original, but they sound great. So come on, dont be such an asholes... dont know why the true offends
i say "if they had not break up maybe now would be more original" up here, i didnt know the band, i read about it later.
Is a bad thing cause they are too similar, first. and second cause is important to be original, i love Cocorosie, and if i have to chose i prefer them to Organs. For example, now theres a lot of "guitar bands" absolutly horrible and they have nothing to say. I hate cliches and stereotypes. The history of Rock is breaking rules to do something new, or you like jonas brothers?
many great artists and bands have begun by imitating, or being heavily influenced, by their idols. if you listen to early Dylan hes trying to sound like Woody Guthrie, and Radiohead started out sounding like a million other grunge lite bands at the time. obviously they both developed their own styles later, but begun by imitating others.
obviously i dont like the fucking jonas brothers, theyre a bunch of whining virgins
thats what i said, is ok at the beginning, but if a band keeps at the "influenced state" forever, mmmmhh... they break up, so we cant say what would happen, even when they look very clon style, they could have change. Now, theres a lot of similar-to-others good bands, and is imposible to be absolutly original, but... i prefer new bright style bands.
Beatles is another good example, they start with covers, and were maybe the best band ever.
I hate rock business and rock enviroment, i hated last coldplay album comments "oh, is so different to first 2 albums, so geniously" camon, again Cocorosie is 10 times more original (but are not in any mag cover), or Amadou et mariam, Laura Veirs, Regina Spektor, besides Eno was the producer, could they change by themeselves. Everyone is watching at the "new bright revelation" and 2 months later they forget it. thats all bullshit. u2 and keane are just crap, i prefer Sam cooke and Bowie, etc
yeah i hear post-mortal is sooo hot, -.- i think they call that necrophiliac or something eh? umm yeah much too much smiths... they should have listened to the spice girls #_@
I not disagree that they sound cool, but is true they sound like smith too. dont know why everyone gets offended, when its obvious. And the video is ok, but not great, looks like many others, i even prefer Far from home, from Tiga, or even best Sabrina, from Einstürzende Neubauten. Dont get me wrong thats what i think, chek out vids and you wil find are possible better. And the smiths thing, a lot of bands started with similarities, if they had not break up maybe now would be more original
katie i love u and ur songs..........!! katie ur only mine! katie i want u! katie pls com to me katie! i love u! ur voice make me dreams every day and every nights...even when i m at school i think to u and i sing ur beautiful songs, hoping to meet u..........
Absolutely LOVE the Organ - Had the pleasure of playing a few gigs together back on Vancouver Island, in the day. We're REALLY eager to see what all the members are up to these days.
wow this is the first time i heard them kinda reminds me of interpol/magneta lane and i agree that they sound influenced by the smiths too. what are some other songs by them u ppl reccomend?
i can see that they were heavily influenced by the smiths...when i first heard it i thought morissey was singing it. its a shame they broke up, they were one of the few best out there. :(
I'm really baffled the world never woke up to them, I know them for just a month now, but I believe they existed for five years... It seems to me they had buckets full of talent. Easily the best band since the year 2000.
OMG! I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! when i first heard of them, i looked them up and they already broke up! i think im able to say that The Organ is THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD!!! A lot of people say that their dapressing but i enjoy their sound. their very unique.i cant believe that they werent discovered. But it sucks to know that ill never go to one of their concerts. Where the hell is the hell is the good talent in this world!!!!1

firstly it doesnt seem likely that the organ will "evolve and be more original" seeing as they split up.
secondly, who said sounding like the smiths is a bad thing? after all, morrisey put the 'm' in 'manchester'
