  • Focaccia

  • I'am going to replace the name Richard cory with Donald Trump.lol

  • @liduv1977

    ha!

  • One of Simon's classics.

  • fuckin heavy

  • WWWWHHHHHOOOOOOOOOAAAAATTTTTTTTTT?????????????????

  • well richard cory was,nt happy so never wish for other peoples life ,

  • Replace 'Richard Cory' with 'Berlusconi'. Greetings from italy ;)

  • My teacher read the poem to us in class one day. I'd never heard it before. It meant so much to me. It's become my favorite poem. I want "In fine, we thought that he was everything /To make us wish that we were in his place" tattooed on my hip bone

  • this song delivers a good message about envy without coming across as preachy

  • @BeatlesFetish09 i actually disargee with that a little, its meant to say dont be envious and like what ever you have and dont wish u could be someone else cuz u dont know how they r feeling inside like how richard cory shoots himself. i read the poem in class and this is how i explained it.

  • folk is the link between ancinet,4000.5000.10000,atlantis,pre-atlantis knowlege and sentiment....and today´s men

  • Just out of curiosity, who here came to this video because they first heard Paul McCartney/Wings sing it?

  • @ChildofNemesis14 I did. And I actually like the Wings version much better having heard this.

  • I really do not like poetry, but after my teacher told me about this song i really started to like this specific poem more

thus song is really catchy too

  • i've commited a crime, i've broken the law.

  • @lazymadonna seriously what u done or is it a song referance

  • @Xcam101 No, no it's just a sneaky reference. ;D

  • @lazymadonna Haven't we all. I know I've crossed a street against the light.

  • @vacantgreen :O!

    You REBEL!

  • @vacantgreen now that is serious.

  • first time i heard this song was in high school... i still love it. ironically it was in english class, thats what you get for growing up in israel. christ im drunk....

  • its funny how, unlike in the poem, they still wanna be richard cory at the end after he's killed himself

  • @kolaidman67

I dont see the humor in that.

Also, you got that off of the wikipedia article.

  • @ocr17 "i wish that i could be Richard Cory"? ok sure. "i wish that i could be the late Richard Cory?" hm.....i dont know about that. I'll take the steady factory job and my life, please.

  • @kolaidman67 He means he does not think he would have killed himself if he was in Richard Cory's position; he cannot understand how a man of such wealth and power is dead on the inside, and chooses to end his life.

  • the poem was great but they managed to make the song even better

  • This is a good one. I'm a big music lover and was surprised to learn of this recently..never listened much to Simon, or G-funk. and maybe i'm a nerd, but i still like the poem better..

  • im a huge underground hip hop fan but even i know this is good music

  • This song, this whole ablum captured the feel of the mid 60s better than anything else I can think of. Truely, a time capsule.

  • Great song, great band. What's not to like?

  • I don't know what to make about suicide.

  • @TheScrewOnHead Suicide is incredibly selfish. Leave it at that.

  • I like the live 1966 version better.

  • whit all of the mooney and fame,,, im glad to be out of that box,,sinsearly.loock how they go to be some one,,,

  • 2 words.....F***ING BRILLIANT!!!!!

  • E. A. Robinson DID NOT write "Richard Cory." He wrote "Dick Corddry", which was banned as obscene in Boston and Topkea, Manitoba.

  • @BrokenneckYgor

    ummm...yes he did...in 1897.

  • @BrokenneckYgor

    You are wrong, wrong, wrong.

Robinson is the author; S&G adapted the lyrics and added the music to create a masterpiece.

  • I love Simon and Garfunkel's songs. One of my favorites is "I am a Rock".

  • amazing melody. sheer genius.

  • im doing this poem for school. its great. Richard Cory <3 RIP RC

  • RIP Alexander McQueen :(

  • Best song Paul did with Art . Period.

  • I LUV this

    sudan

  • I thank my parents so much for turning me onto these guys.Music so deep you had to swim in it for awhile to get the feel for it.

Way ahead of their time and never truly duplicated;)

  • I had to read this song and the original poem in class and I have to say this is not one of simon & garfunkel's best songs, it could have been a little better but it was an alright song

  • they used to make songs out of poems all the time, like april come she will. also they played a lot of folk songs that were written anonymously, such as scarborough fair.

  • who killed sgt pepper?

  • I was the only person in class who knew who they were... sad.... people need to listen to real music

  • @reco1515 Only one other person knew in mine!

  • one of their best songs

  • why did I not get this in my english class?? maybe I would have went to school, or perhaps they did this when i was skipping class lol, never mind, im 35 now, no hope for me, stick in all u guys!!!

  • This was once my favourite S&G song. Absolutely awesome. What a story, entertaining, and tragic!

  • this song is based on a poem from 1897, titled Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson

  • @rameyers09 yea read it in class today then listen to this song i hate poems but that one is awsome

  • @arkraz1 best poem ever

  • Catchy

  • We went over these lyrics in English class, And hearing my English teacher say "and the orgies on his yacht" was probably the highlight of my high school career.

  • Haha.

  • @xHSHxSniper Dude my English teacher did the exact same thing!

  • @NickityDD Must have been that years curriculum.... all I can say to that is if Simon & Garfunkel are been taught in todays schools, then surely it cannot be a bad thing!! ehhhh?

  • @xHSHxSniper No offense but if that is the highlight of you high school career then its been a lame one.

  • @dystopiainmyhead no shit

  • @xHSHxSniper thats pretty sad.. must've had a horrible highschool career!

  • @xHSHxSniper that just happened in class today lol

  • @xHSHxSniper wow my teacher did the same yesterday haha

  • @xHSHxSniper

    Ha-ha! Same story here!

  • @xHSHxSniper Rofl! I'm doing a submission assignment about this song right now! I can't wait for the lesson tomorrow, when we'll read this in class and one of my friends will ask the translation of "Orgies" from the teacher! Hehe that's gonna be something.. :P

  • @xHSHxSniper school isnt a career

  • @xHSHxSniper lol we did this for drama and it was amazing

  • SO amazing! great universal lesson! i love them, they really are something else!

  • This song is absolutely brilliant, i love the ver done by "Them"

  • Great lyric. Something that you can learn from.

  • it's actually based off a poem by Edwin Arlington Robinson.

  • Great song.
