Just so happens the other car at the track was a bone stock 2010 camaro ss... I got my ass handed to me... He ran 13.3 @ 110 I just don't understand why people are quick to jump down each others throats before they factor in all variables.

@USGiorgi several reasons: street tires at a drag strip, people unwilling to really push the car, and judging by the R/T both drives are pretty green. even on street tires I know the the SS can run low 13's with slicks maybe high 12's, depending on your elevation. That and unlike the WRX, these are full sized cars, not feather weight sports cars. (nothing wrong with sports cars)

@mangekyouuchiha88 amazing what a good filter like that can do huh. i threw the fram away that was in my s10 4.3 4x4 blazer and put in a stock replacement k&n . dont really notice a hp difference except at takeoff but my mpg jumped to 20 mpg or so. with the fram i got 14 or 15 on a good day.

@skipdafer It's more than just a weight problem. It's mostly a lack of dodge willing to go the extra mile to open the engine up and give it the chance to breathe. Lx bodies are heavy, I'll admit that but they're also incredibly strong.

Seems Ford 's rear axle keeps it out of the chase (for me).I hear GM already has an upgrade coming for the Camaro, and not just a mere re-flash either. @TheDodgeChallenger 2011 Mustang GT can do 11.8 second 1/4 miles with just some new tires and a PCM tune. Who gives a shit about burnouts? If you can afford tearing up $1k in tires every week, then you can afford a ZR1 anyway.
Technically no. Its an LS3 or L99...with the same unit GM uses on the LS9.
the LS9 is a stronger motor capable of 10 + psi......where the L99 or LS3...can handle maybe 8psi no more than 9spsi. ( 6-7psi is recomended for longevity)
And to get the Ls9 horsepower you'd need headers , full exhuast ,intake. tuning ect stat, colder plugs.) the L99 has advantages as it lower compression. and that auto run the CTS-v power!. I don't make what a ls9 makes to the crank...

@skipdafer Nope...Dodge needs to go back to their musclecar roots...they always had the heaviest cars...but they countered that by putting the most monstrous engines they could devise, under the hood..AND sold em for a legit price.(Largest engine challenger costs around $50k...bit tooo much IMO)
Im waiting for R&D to put a new 440ci supercharged MONSTER underneath the hood...either that...or the SRT10 engine from the next gen Viper.

@joey187 actually i raced a black 2009 SRT8 Challenger on the interstate 3 months ago in my WS6 and pulled on him. we both had exaust work done. not sure what else he had. point is, Dodge's muscle cars are tugboats...alot of power, but doesn't get anywhere fast. so dont be so quick to lash out. you're making a a pretty pathetic argument considering the new Challenger has 470 and the 5.0 stang has ~420.

the challenger is a good car but Chrysler needs to work on that weight and getting that power down better, you shouldnt be talking about a $20-$30k car losing to a car that STARTS at $45k the mustang GT and boss 302 would be closer to challenger RT which start at $29,670

I don't think either one is an SS nor a SRT8. If anything it's probably a V6 RS and a Hemi.
SS and SRT8 usually do low 13 to high 12 and traps at 112 mph.

I expected the camaro at 3800lbs to beat the 4100lb challanger, I test drove the 6.1 426 hp ss camaro, and the interior is WAY to compact for me at 6'4.. Im a true dodge fan, and Im test driving all 3. The new mustang 5.0 VS the camaro ss VS the SRT-8 challenger. Sitting in the challenger is like putting a seat in the middle of your garage, when i put the seat all the way back I can stretch my legs all the way out, that's really good for a guy who's 6'4, an dhead room more then enough.

@zae5pm That's the thing, there will always be a one-up. Seems Ford 's rear axle keeps it out of the chase (for me).I hear GM already has an upgrade coming for the Camaro, and not just a mere re-flash either. In the end I like the looks of the Challenger by a hair over the Camaro, but the performance and handling of the Camaro is best of the bunch.

The challey is heavier with similar hp and tq. stock for stock. The SS should spit out the Srt8. Hpe 550 ss vs Hpe 570 Srt8 winner ...THE SS!

Is the tvs2300 a "chip"?

Its basoically a Slp/ Hpe....packaged SS. putting down well over 530+
on the cooler days i've put down a max of 549.
granted i spent 10 in upgrades but i have a solid build. i'm happy..
you can't go wrong with any of em. SS/ Srt8 / Gt

Technically no. Its an LS3 or L99...with the same unit GM uses on the LS9.
the LS9 is a stronger motor capable of 10 + psi......where the L99 or LS3...can handle maybe 8psi no more than 9spsi. ( 6-7psi is recomended for longevity)
And to get the Ls9 horsepower you'd need headers , full exhuast ,intake. tuning ect stat, colder plugs.) the L99 has advantages as it lower compression. and that auto run the CTS-v power!. I don't make what a ls9 makes to the crank...

hennesey doesn't put GM motors in Srt8's they try and shoe horn a Viper V10 in the srt8 i'd think..
No way do they cross engines and put V10 in Gm or LS9's in Dodges..
its too much work with no real advantage.....Viper V10 make 600 hp NA
the Zr1 638 its too close not to use the Viper motor....
I'd buy a Viper motor challenger anyday, anyway....it would be worth something.

Im a mopar engine man and always have been im only 24 not old enough to go back in time and drive the charger, challenger, or the roadrunner, but i think chysler made so much muscle in an engine that the government outlawed them. Looks/originality go to the challenger, performance goes to the camaroSS, which is why i am deciding to buy the camaroSS, i may wait to see when or if the convertible comes out
