i've been doing deadlifts for a month or so, i do 2 sets of 3 supersets of 8 reps, at 225lbs. Before moving up to a higher weight, should i increase my sets and reps, or go to the higher weight and do less sets/reps?
thx for the tips on the pull ups! I am starting out and I only have basic stuff at home to workout. I have seen a huge difference by only using dumbbells the bands and doing push ups and pull ups.
@slickleg1004 Try to work you way up to the point you can only do 1 rep. But , as he said, do some warm up sets by doing it with moderate weight that you can do for up to 8-12 reps. Just build your 1 max rep. Deadlift is more for strength. Doing 5 sets of 5 reps is a good way of building up your strength
I think he's using a little too much weight on the deadlifts. Using a bounce and having a jerky movement off of that bounce isn't good form in my book. I'd lower the weight if I were him, he's having good results now but he'll regret it when he seriously injures his back.
@Renamed003 Apparently its not good for the back. If you are using light weights (light enough for you to do 20reps no problem) then its ok to go all the day down.
@al3xxx693r Actually, i think it trains both the legs and the back. I feel my lower back, trapezius and a bit my armstring/quads while doing it.. If you do an entire deadlift with good form and not lowering your legs too much, you do train your back. Well that's how i feel it
@al3xxx693r And i am not the bodybuilder type kinda guy. I look more for pure strength. And the deadlift is for me the best overall strength exersise you can do! You will also get awesome overall size. I definitly recommend doing a full - with good form - deadlift ;)
@3235643398 Nope, it will help you lift more. At some stage no matter how strong your grip is, your forearms will not be able to pull the weights you need to actually work your back. If you use straps for every little thing then yes, you should stop! But when you go really heavy, it is ok.
@moricestreet909 nah i disagree. you can train your forearms strong enough to be able to lift your max weight. straps are never necessary, same with belts. you can train your core to stablize your body while lifting any weight. nice vid btw tho, i wasnt sure how to do proper form one arm dumbell row
you have a good ability to motivate people, i just got motivated by this vid to go to the gym right now and try those out

I think doing deadlift that way is easier for the lower back, right?
And the straps kindda make it easier to do pulling things, guess I just use them when I can't grip anymore
Nice vid, basic exercises are essential to make it safer to do other exercises.

You use strips on every freaking pulling exercise...?
Even 1arm DB rows...? Seriously?

You have to do 1 chin ups or 3 chin ups? Each chin up is 10-12 reps of 3 sets? followed by the other chin up with 10-12 reps of 3 sets?
