@ninetailfox91 Actually there is a CD in there, This video was before I changed my PS2 laser so sometimes the disc would never read. If you start the PS2 with no disc it's much shorter start-up.

@sideswipe3511 It had minor scratches but that was enough to delay the startup with the crappy laser I had in it.

Although I did like the minimalist start up of the PS2 with the crystaline cubes really showing off the next gen graphics I did prefer the opening fanfare of the PS1.

@billy000b The cubes ae nothing more than something sony threw in there, The more cube there are on startup, the more your memory card was full, the less cube...the less your memory card is full. IDK what TheVistaLover is thinking...

I think the theme / sound / audio / animation creators had a lot of fun doing this, finding the right background sound (waves) and composing the noises to the flying light dots. It's amazing, I never really thought about the startup of that console until I saw this here when searching for the startup screen of the previous Playstation.

@Airking11 Yeah, we always have played PS2 when I was 5 (10 now) and we couldn't get the games to work, this was causing so much frustration and WTF moments back then :D By the way, that browser/configuration thing always creeped the heck out of me, I thought that PS2 was going to explode or something when it did this. I miss those times :( (I don't have ANY home console in my home. I use my MBP with a PS3/USB controller to play games. I picked the hybrid one because it has shapes as buttons.

@mikelopez101 yes and no ...when there is no disk entered this screen does come up but its cut short,.....when the PlayStation reads a disk, it will try twice to read the disk during those 2 times this boot screen is longer. my PlayStation has this problem, i will insert the disk and this long screen will come up, right when it gets to the menu it loads the game.
