I purchased my copy of On an Island at the PX while deployed in Iraq in 05-06. When Live in Gdansk came out, I was in Iraq for a second time, and my soldier Angel sent me a copy in a care package. On an Island is one of my favorite albums. I have put both of my daughters to bed while listening to this album numerous times.

As for myself I hate all of the wars we are in. That said, As a veteran I support the people that are in service for our country. You want to stop the wars go after the war criminals that start them and keep us in them, not the people that are serving your country.

I know this is a very unpopular view, but I can't thank for someone for taking part (even at the lower ranks, even under orders) in a war I think is wrong. I don't mean to "go after" your commenter, but neither can I thank him. You refer to service; but I don't feel it's serving not the country, but, even with the best of intentions, the people you call war criminals. I'm glad he survived his service to them, but wish he had never served.

@flagwatch If I can offer an opinion, I think most war is wrong, and I hate war more than almost anything. But I do respect soldiers. Unless they wanted to go over there to kill people who they hate, I can only assume they had good reason to go to war, and they don't really control where the country's higher-ups send them. Some of they did it to pay for college, some for belonging, some because they want to, in their view, defend freedom. So I do respect the soldiers who went.

Phil Taylor, Gilmour's guitar mechanic since 1974 writes about it in his book "The Black Strat". It's on page 133. I have it in my lap. Pink Floyd did play with Hendrix at the Christmas on Earth party along with The Who,Eric Burdon and others on December 22, 1967. Echoes page 75. Check out the cover of Hey Joe David and Seal did,Hendrix style!
