wtf!! ( my cheeks hurt from smiling, going down memory lane right now ) :P

  • This one of those songs that are just at the right guitar tone, and speed pace. Very good song.

  • Love that song! Too bad the endings so rough. C'mon dudes from Max Webster, stop thinking about yer royalties and get with the living and post some shit! People from all over the world just wanna enjoy your music!

  • When I was full of dysphoria and wanting more than anything to see a girl in the mirror, this was one of the few things that distracted me...

  • Saw them back in May 23 1979 Concert House, Gothenburg, Sweden

I was 16.. amazing..and so was rush.. my first real big concert :-)

  • used to listen to this in the pitch blackness of my basement

  • @Ressitude Just make sure you pay your debts.

  • @Ressitude the US will prevail..what a joke..Dream on..Max rocks!!!

  • I'm an American living in Canada and I must say to all Americans...we've been RIPPED-THE-FUCK-OFF by not hearing more of Kim Mitchell and Max Webster. It's a damn shame. Totally.

  • This song takes me back...I'm 19 years old with my first real serious boyfriend, hot summer night, hanging out at the Beach...there's a storm drifting in over Lake Ontario, you can see lightning and hear the thunder in the distance - other people start to leave, but we don't and Max Webster tape playing in the car - this is the song I associate with that night, that summer...that first love

  • @Sugarmoon23 - Thanks for that sugarmoon ... what a great description !!!

  • @Sugarmoon23 I know the feelings I get when I hear a certain song from Boston's "Don't Look Back" is played.

We'd gotten in from going to a movie and it was raining on the way home. Her Mom went to the kitchen to make some cocoa after lighting the fireplace. She brings it back to us and goes to putter in the kitchen (and give us privacy).

She was kissing me behind my left ear when "Feelin' Satisfied" was playing. I still get goosebumps.

    BTW Thanks Vicky H.

  • I first saw them in the Seneca College common room in about '74 or '75, been a huge fan since. I used to take their LPs to friends in the USA.

  • once again...drinkin beer and lettin go the line cheers!!!

  • Does anyone know how they came up with the name Max Webster? Great band by the way, still plays on CHOM! :)

  • @Traducteur1

They grabbed the phone book, flipped the pages and threw their finger down..and it landed on Webster Max.

  • Love this Classic song. It is a song about suicide like Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear The Reaper.

  • Another gem.

  • featuriing MAX WEBSTER !!!! KIM

  • Bearded clam

  • holy shit

  • Saw the keyboardist/and writer for this one perform it in a bar in Banff w Klattu!Kicked ass!

  • I haven't heard this song in years. Wasn't Kim Mitchell in this band?

  • @shmuli9 Yes he was lead singer for them.

  • A great song with a lot of depth. We have all been there. We have all contemplated checking out. If you haven't..you haven't really lived.

  • @gemstyler Absolutely spot on. I remember cruising around during high school summers with stuff like this pouring from the car stereo at about 10 on the musical richter scale. Sometimes we were so wired we didn't know where we were going or where we'd been, but we didn't care because we had TUNES! Sit at the beach, waves licking at our feet, moonlight shining on the water, warm breezes blowing through our cloudy psyches, and laying around a fire in the arms of our sweethearts..THAT was living.

  • I have this album. The BBC Radio 2 was playing it rarely around 1975 (or whenever it came out). How many songs still sound this good so many years later? It's brilliant.

  • @Reisepute I think this was out in 1979...

  • Max's best imo

  • CANADIANS ARE AWESOME !!! I AM CANADIAN !!! LOVE THE PRAIRIES !!

  • the song is so freeing..

  • Great song! I haven't heard in a long time.. and forgot about it actually. Thanks for posting and Cj for sending.

  • Brings back some nice sunny memories.

  • Very soothing tune!

  • I never thought Max Webster did this song...

  • @AaronShowbiz There's no classic unmistakable Kim Mitchell voice. That throws many off the trail. Such a classic Max though.

  • @TonyLalangue Sorry dude, but I just never knew Max Webster did that song. Stay on the trail. It is a classic Max song.

  • @TonyLalangue It's all good. I've been guilty of misidentifying songs with artists before. I think what is so interesting about it is it isn't obviously Max Webster. It was quite a popular song in its day though.

  • @TonyLalangue Terry Watkinson is singing not Kim Mitchell.

  • q07 w00t w00t

  • cher?

  • What a great tune.

  • @brahma1964

Cause Kim was "beaking" in the U.S. Also his name was recognizable to those who knew him only as a solo artist in the 80's/90's. Hence sell the Max stuff with his name on the front......MEH!

  • All I know is tonight I might let go the line.

    BADASS!

    Max.....should have been way bigger.

  • Terry Watkinson is lead vocal on this track. I have this album on vinyl, and it does not have "featuring Kim Mitchell" on the cover. Why do the record companies feel a need to do this? Any long time fan knows damn well who is in the band!

  • I KNOW the lyrics, thank you to all of you who are trying to correct me...I chose this line for a personal reason so please, keep your kind comments to yourselves and leave mine alone

  • And all I know is that tonight I will let go the line, let go the line

  • Comment removed

  • @YOUrmypal68

I think it actually says "All I know is that tonight I'm high and let go the line"

    Very cool mellow song!

  • @mattelderca Actually it's "And all I know is that tonight I might let go the line...." Google search for Max Webster Let Go The Line lyrics confirms this, as does the liner notes from the actual album itself. A Million Vacations, the album that "Let Go The Line" comes from was the very first Max Webster album I got, many years ago. Fantastic band, sure wish I could have seen them live!

  • @75sultan

I did see them live in 1979 in Sarnia, Ontario. They're from there.

  • this song almost sounds like a Video Game Theme LoL well great Tone ~

  • I had this on a collection... Kim Mitchell... heh I usually think of him in regards to "Patio Lanterns" and "Easy to Tame"...

  • This song rocks harder than most these days.... Always dreamt of getting to see this live. Hey, they just officially stopped making walkmans!

  • excellent tune - i saw him last nite in Oshawa and he didn't play this unfortunately but it was a really great show!! Thanks Kim & Band..you guys are awsome!! Please come back soon - how about another MAX WEBSTER reunion in the 'SHWA? 10/24/10

  • Kim Mitchell.. you and your good wholesome rock haha

  • Turn off the world if it makes you hurt

I'm just a clown but I like you

  • @YOUrmypal68

Definitely one of my favourite lines as well. Another song that I like even a bit more than this one which is done in a similar style is Fly at Night by Chilliwack

  • God this takes me back. Thank you for posting this fantastic song. what an underrated band. These should have been as big as rush, and triumph no question.

  • @24547377 Oh man...you are so DEAD ON!!!! Great comment...thanks...my thoughts exactly :)

  • @24547377

Exactly. I'm 13 years old here, and i'm pretending to do homework in my room, and the massive headphones are on and all I can hear is this song, and it's a Calgary winter where the snow ghosts across the road and the streetlights bleed orange and outside it's as quiet as quiet can be. Awesome song. Awesome band.

  • @24547377

    LOVE THIS SONG AS WELL!!!!!!!!!

  • Tell your dad I said High :D

  • whoo! my dad wrote this song! and is singing it and playing keys....whoo!

  • If you know this tune, you're a Canuck.

  • @JeffTheCanuck2 Uh.....middle of the U.S. here, and I've been a Max Webster fanatic since the mid 70's....there are more of us too.

  • @vampyros1 buffalo ny here! ive always wondered if anywhere other than border states new of max? where you at if you dont mind? glad to here there are more of you and turn the kids on to them!!

  • @jonnyjib As mid-America as it gets ... Kansas. They actually had a pretty good following out here, especially with musicians. People who ran in that crowd knew of 'em! And loved them. Their legacy lives ....

  • @vampyros1 thats great to hear! did they ever get out that way?

  • @jonnyjib Yes, they opened for Rush at a college gig.....Manhattan I believe; unfortunately that was just before I got into them, so I didn't go. But those who did were profoundly impressed.

  • @vampyros1 I Knew you guys aren't all bad!

  • @ctdgao Right!

  • @JeffTheCanuck2 ....yep i hear that.....same goes for Chilliwack, Trooper, Harlequin, Prism and April Wine.

  • @vardiss22 Yeah, bummer April Wine never played my high school. Only Rush, Max Webster, Triumph, Streetheart, Rough Trade, and Goddo did. If any of these bands played your high school---you might be a Canuck.

  • @JeffTheCanuck2 if only i hadn't grown in the Atlantic provinces (N.B and N.S.) i don't think any of those bands made it that far east , in terms of playing high schools. (Although April Wine who were formed in Halifax might have played a couple high schools during their early days in N.S.)

  • @JeffTheCanuck2 lol, if you and appreciate "Hang-Over" you're as Canuck as it gets!

  • @lcerider -Those stairs are steep...

  • @JeffTheCanuck2 SO TRUE, eh!!!

  • Who the hell is Max Webster?

  • @gorillabelly1 stfu&gtfo noob

  • The sound quality is greatly improved if you add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL.

  • @dimeuno cool - thank you!

  • @rebharath No problem. If you want you can add the link with &fmt=18 at the end of it to the description of the video so people have easy access to high quality mode.

  • Sorry, This Youtube account was used simply to upload this song for a friend a while back. I wasn't paying too much attention to it. Glad you enjoy it, i love this song.

  • @rebharath Oh, lol... I thought you were the uploader (Vipz0rrX).

  • Mitchell makes a guitar sing. A true magician! Why do we in Canada honour the likes of Murray and Cohen and forget guys like Kim Mitchell and Peter Fredette? A shame...

  • @revetup YES!!!!!! You nailed it!!!

  • Great tune! Classic.

  • A great song. Memories of turning 14 and hearing this played quite a bit. Never forgotten. Choice Piece

    Cheers

  • The song and album reminds me when i was 17, just got my license that summer of 79. i would listen to this on 8track and also The Cars"Candy O", cruising in my Dad's 73' Chevelle with the swivel front leather bucket seats. haven't seen that car since. great memories.

  • @Kenebutch

Did you also listen to The Cars first album from the year before? "Moving in Stereo" is amazing.

  • @huysmanslabas Yes I did. I also had this on 8-track. I luv the first three album's from the Car's. their one of my favourite band's from that era. I remember there was a lot of disco on the radio back then and The Car's sounded so refreshing.

  • This goes on my growing list of songs that I didn't care much for when they came out 30+ years ago, but am really enjoying now. The song has such a clean feel to it.

  • try this song in a Baltimore yuppie bar

  • ; ) Why, thank you.

  • This song deserved so much more recognition.

  • your reading my coment 0_0

  • @sheephead007 sad but true..

  • @sheephead007 Rock on bother..!! fellow Canuck here..drunk and sentmental!! yaaa!! the great white north!!

  • Whoa Skippy, your great uncle did NOT write MOST of the songs for Webster. That would be Pye and Kim. But he did write (and sing) this one...

  • What does the title mean?

  • The title of this song? Let Go The Line? "Let go the line" is slang for the fishing technique known as trolling.

  • Ethereral and haunting. I used to listen to this on vinyl, dad's old console & turntable, amazing!

  • It goes to show the greatest music was back in the day i may be 18 but i truly know a great song when i hear it.

And this is one of them!

  • Oh My God!!!!!!!!! Growing up in the 70s, I used to wonder who wrote this song. They used to play so often on the radio in Montreal....now I know.....whoa!....flashback!!!

  • On Chom FM 97.7?

  • Exactly!!! They also used to play this tune on CKGM back in the day.

  • Terry Watkinson is my great uncle, hes also a talented artist, he lives off his paintings now, but back then he wrote nearly all the songs for max webster. Hes one of my mothers fathers many brothers, i grew up with his music and im proud to call him my great uncle, hes a really cool guy.

  • I think he wrote maybe 5 songs... they're great, but "nearly all" is WAYYYYY overstating it.

Astonish Me is favourite from him. Really, why would you say that?

  • CHOK radio in Sarnia played this a lot because the band originated in Sarnia.

  • The words in this really paint a picture. It is a masterpiece.

  • I actually got to see them in grade 9 early 70,s in the gym at Orchard Park Secondary School on Dewit Rd

  • an absolute classic. this is one of his best (and forgotten) tunes

  • Rockin to some Mitchell.... like Ricky

  • Just saw Kim Mitchell about 2 hours ago. Great show! Unfortunately, he didn't play this classic Max Webster song. We shouted for it but it fell on deaf ears despite sitting in row 4.

  • thats because terry watkinson wrote played the keyboards and sang this song not kim mithcell. he only played guitar.. hope this explains it.

  • Kim is singing to a corpse...unless you havent ever heard...

  • Terry Watkinson sings this not Kim.

  • The keyboard player is the lead vocal, not Kim.

  • This is the band I saw live in a Hamilton bar back in the 70's, not sure which bar but I think it was on Barton St. Was anybody there also, it was when Kim Mitchell was just getting started with Max Webster? Wish I got their autographs back then. They were awesome live too!

  • that would probably be at The Rock Pile at the barton street double rinks

  • I have always loved this one. I find it rather haunting.

  • me too...I also have found it to be haunting...

  • The word I would use to describe this song is.... I find it haunting.

  • Comment removed

  • an absolute classic

  • hauntingly beautiful!

  • its terry watkinson

  • I don't know if this is definitive Max or Kim,but it maybe should of been for a wider audience.Excellent song and production!

  • This song doesn't need a video. This is an effin excellent tune! Takes me back to the old days as a kid growing up in Toronto.

  • rockin sum fuckin mitchell on youtube boys

  • thanks for this one.

  • Hi Gordon !! did i tell you ...About my first Max w............. only joking ......

Really great posts ..... so much cleaner than my old vinyls and cassettes ....

  • love it even with no video,i have the best memories with this song and the lyrics are great, dedicated to me long ago,

  • who the fuck is terry walkerton?!

  • I thought it was Anne Murray.

  • That's Kim Mitchell?I thought this was April Wine man am I stupid..

  • I thought it was the Guess Who.
