Ok: The song is in German: know what; I like it: it is stirring music and would appeal to anybody no matter where you come from. Considering that about 50% of us English have German blood is it any wonder I find it so good to listen to.
"Ob`s stürmt oder schneit, Ob die Sonne uns lacht, Der Tag glühend heiß, Oder eiskalt die Nacht. Verstaubt sind die Gesichter, Doch froh ist unser Sinn, Ja unser Sinn; Es braust unser Panzer im Sturmwind dahin."
"Whether it`s stormy or snowy, If the sun is smiling at us, The day blistering hot, Or freezing cold the night, Dusty are our faces, Still bright is our mind, Yes our mind; Our tank is roaring its way through the heavy gale."
Saw this movie as a kid when it first came out, at Hollywood's Cinerama Dome. Greatest movie experience I can remember -- with the huge, curved screen that filled up almost the entire field of vision, it was like being in the middle of a battalion of tanks! Even though they were only M-47 Pattons, and not PzMk VI King Tigers (few examples of which survive), they were still magnificent!

Great editing - nice job! It would have been great if they had real Tiger II's but I can get past the M-47's myself.... There are only a couple of Tiger II's in running order and there probably weren't many more available even in 1965.
@marty979 Not only Spanish tanks, but American made ones! The M-47 Patton was an American tank that was sold to Franco's Spanish army. (They were used again to represent German armor a few years later in "Patton" which was also filmed in Spain and used the Spanish army as extras. Franco rented out his army for numerous movie companies throughout the 1960's and it became a favorite place to shoot large scale "epics" because you could fill out scenes with thousands of extras.
@maki5288 Taken is too strong a word, those that could willing surrendered to the americans vs. the russians. The contributions the germans made after world war 2 cannot be understared but also the anger at many germans that claim they had no knowledge of the holocaust when the death camps were a relatively short distance from where they lived and worked. but yes, we should be more greatful to the germans, a marvelous people that did both great and terrible things.
Are you another one of these lunatics who thinks that Europe would be a glorious harmonious place if ruled under the Nazi jackboot and presided over by a demented Austrian homosexual with ideas above his station? Stay in your bedroom with your Nazi memorabilia until your mum interrupts your Hitler saluting in the mirror by calling you down to tea, you clown. Let the rest of us enjoy OUR Europe. You clearly have no education so I wont bother making an intellectual argument to peasant. If you have any relations with women, (which is unlikely), then go ahead, you dont need to tell strangers that you're off to have sex. Ha Ha, you're a retard.
Too bad Spanish Army M-47 Pattons were used as Tigers. Palm trees can be seen on the horizon as the Germans walk away in retreat at the end of the movie; filmed in Spain.
@christof139 Yes, there were cheap effects and plot features, but keep in mind this film was made in the early 1960's, when standards of realism were quite a bit lower. The Spanish army, which used both the US M24 Chaffee tank (substituting for US M4 Shermans apparently) and the US M47 Pershing (substituting for Tigers, apparently), was a fairly good substitute for the real thing. Today is the 67th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge (December 16th, 2011). Honor to all the fallen.
english: In blizzard or storm, Or in sun warm and bright, The day hot as hell Or bone-chilling be the night, Our faces may with dust be laid, But spirits never fade, (2x) Relentless, our tank Thunders out on a raid. its propaganda, the stuff you hear, see - and ape - in order to make yourself do what others want. well, you know it. ah beechcaster, could you upload some other parts of "kane and abel", please? ;-)

'It was fucking cold in Russia'
'So we took it out on the Brits and the Yanks'.

Very funny especially given that the russians lost more tanks than any other nation, 96500 fully tracked AFV were lost during the war.

PitbullNL states: Because it cost too many money to let a few original WW2 tanks drive and stuff. They use alot of gas and stuff
ha ha ha!! No genius. it is because there were no WWII German tanks available to be used for the movie.
BTW, all tanks, other AFVs, autos, trucks, etc. 'use a lot of gas and stuff'. You are a genius, and funny!!
Shilter just wasted the lives of Germans in the Ardennes Offensive & by starting WWII. May he continue to burn in Hell.

1) In the 1960's I doubt there were any operationable Tigers left... most would be in museums... so M47's were best generic match.
2) The M3's could have been captured and used by the Germans.
3) To make the film a little more authentic they could have shown WW2 footage of actual German tanks.
Still one of my all time favourite movies.
